Female golfers are gathered in Japan this week for the first of four major golf tournaments. This first tournament is in Ibaragi, just south of Fukushima prefecture, which was severely affected by the March 11 earthquake and subsequent tsunami.
Female golf players from around the world are gathering in Japan to participate in the World Ladies Championship Salonpas Cup.
The tournament is the first of four major tournaments in the Japan Ladies Professional Golfer's Association tour. Practice rounds are conducted Tuesday and Wednesday and the tournament begins on Thursday.
The tournament is being held at the Ibaraki Golf Club in Ibaraki, just south of Fukushima prefecture, which was badly hit in the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. Thousands of people have been evacuated from Fukushima, due to fears of radiation from a damaged nuclear plant.
Defending champion Morgan Pressel has returned to Japan for the tournament and is dispelling any fears about radiation from Fukushima.
[Morgan Pressel, Defending Champion]:
"I guess the only thing I'm worried about right now is an earthquake, because I've never felt an earthquake. I wouldn't know what it would feel like. But you know with the radiation, I think we're far enough out of the way and you know I felt like I really needed to come back and, the country needs something like sports to lift it back up and give something people to be excited about."
The 22-year-old Floridian is making a monetary gesture to help those affected by the disaster.
[Morgan Pressel, Defending Champion]:
"I felt that Japan has given me a lot, so this week I will donate half of my earnings to the relief efforts through the American Red Cross. I'm really looking forward to play well and hopefully donating a lot of money. That's my goal this week for sure."
Na-Yeon Choi of South Korea is at the tournament for the first time. She hopes the event will help the Japanese people.
[Na-Yeon Choi, South Korean Golfer]:
"I know you guys are strong-hearted, so you guys will get better, everything, so I would like to keep positive for everybody."
The chair of the Japan Ladies Professional Golfer's Association Hiromi Kobayashi said she was very satisfied at the number of golfers who had decided to come to Japan to take part in the event.
[Hiromi Kobayashi, Japan Ladies Professional Golfer's Assoc.]:
"With the right information provided, the players came with their own knowledge and decisions for this tournament, and I am very thankful that a lot of players showed their willingness to support Japan and attend."
A number of other international sporting events were cancelled in the aftermath of Japan's earthquake and tsunami.

This is the into and demo scenes for the Nintendo 64 (N64), 64DD game Japan Pro Golf Tour 64. It was one of three Japanese exclusive golf games for the N64, another was "Eiko no Saint Andrews" also developed by SETA (Super Entertainment and Total Amusement). The other Japanese exclusive golf game was "Masters '98: Haruka Naru Augusta". This game wasn't published by them like most of their other games, but published by Media Factory, they are also publishers of several N64 guide books, magazines and other media. Despite the game being a Japanese exclusive, much of the intro uses the English alphbet, so there isn't much that needs translation here.
{While Demo is playing, a message will be flashing on and off at the top right corner of the screen.}
Demo Screen
{Ribbon Message, repeats}
When button is pushed title screen is returned.
*Game Menu
Number of People playing depends on Play Method select this please.
*Match Play
{In side window}
1 through 2 players can play, for each hole separately to win or lose they will compete.
{Player will compete any selected course, In two player mode, each hole will count as a win or loss for the player, the course is divided into 2 rounds with 9 holes each, if you loss more then half of the first round it will be the end of that game, and you won't be able to play the other remaining holes in that round. No Handicap points are removed when playing in this mode. If you win more then half of the holes the words "Dormy Hole" will flash on and off at the left side of the screen, meaning the player can only be tied or they win.}
*Stroke Play
{1-4 players can play, from the entire 18 holes the total score is the contest. Your Handicap points will be taken off, once you beat any course, depending on your score, you need to reach zero Handicap before Q Tournament will be unlocked. I suggest playing the Setonaikai Golf Club course it is the one with the "OTM" design on it's course select card, sand pits are mostly out of the way and no ledges, hills and very few trees as obstacles, but you'll still have to play all 18 holes several times, what I usually get the handicap reduced to each time is; 36, 21, 12, 6, 2.}
*Rally Participation
{In side window}
In each Rally to Participate and win is the aim!
{The you'll play the same course 4 days in a row against two computer players, the totals of each day will be added together and whoever has the best score wins, your score will be compared with other professionals not actually playing but you can finish 1st above all 73 player, and if you win you get to see the games Ending. You must press rest the your N64 system after the ending of the game, for this reason Handicap points won't be added or taken away from your player.}
*Prize Money King mode
{In side window}
In a year each Rally is visited and attacked, to become the Prize Money King is what your sight will be kept towards.
{Your player will battle one computer player, and your score will be compared with other professionals not actually playing but you can finish 1st above all 40 player, each of the 10 courses must be played twice, in a first and then a second round. If you want to you can skip a tournament by choosing the sleep icon.}

Quick Hit - JGTO Kounin Golf Master (Japan Golf Tour Game)
This is the original Japanese golf game that the ESPN game in my last video was based off of. For the most part, I think the original is superior to the U.S. version. Some differences include:
- Intro & cut-scenes of computer animated characters in original.
- Animated sportscaster goes over a replay of the action in the original.
- Wider variety of music in the original (of course I didn't do match play in the ESPN version so they may have the same amount of music).
- ESPN logo in top left corner of U.S. version while picture of golf ball with hole number in the middle in the Japanese version.
- Voiced hole introductions at the start of each hole in the Japanese version.
- Water in the Japanese version shows the reflection of the sky (usually clouds), while the U.S. version just has drawn-in blue water.
- When you hit a nice shot (perfect aim and distance), the Japanese version has a female voice saying "Nice Shot!" along with the on-screen graphic.
- When making a Par shot, in the Japanese version the character seems content while in the U.S. version the character seems upset.
- When just barely missing a shot, in the Japanese version a female voice says something, but in the U.S. version you hear a crowd going "Awww.."
- There seems to be far more options overall in the Japanese version.
- Just as an F.Y.I., the original Japanese version was the 17th GBA game released while the U.S. version was the 93rd GBA release (worldwide).
I'm sure there's more differences, so let me know if you have played this and can think of any. If you'd like to see me play more of this game or the U.S. version, let me know.

Par {Goal} Out 36, In 37, Total 72. Handicap, Out 81, In 90, Total 171
Hole No. 1, 412 Yards, Par 4, Handicap 11
Hit low here, on this short left doglegged middle hole. With first hit, hidden from view on the right is a crossbunker so be careful, a little to the left this attack will be suffecint. The green's interior slops, on second hit from a height stopping the ball near the pin is the aim.
Hole No. 2, 513 Yards, Par 5, Handicap 7
A valley will be crossed over, on this little dogleg, for this long Hole. On first hit there stands a tree hidden on the left of the crossbunker to avoid this, a little to the right a attack will be suffiant. An unreasonable short cut is undo able. Towards the green the flower road opens, 2 on at about 10 degrees is possible.
Hole No. 3, 212 Yards, Par 3, Handicap 17
The vally when over crossing, use a little low hit on this short hole. Apart from the little difficulty, the flower road is open, directly towards the green an aim there will run onto the place and will be suffciant.
Hole No. 4, 435 Yards, Par 4, Handicap 1
With its oppisote S shape, hit low on this middle hole. On first hit to the right of the crossbunker be careful, a little to the left attack it. On second hit the green's interior, to the right is a guardbunker so becareful, on the flower road using this side for attach is suffectnt.
Hole No. 5, 424 Yards, Par 4, Handicap 5
Hit low or hit upward, on this stright smooth flat middle hole. With first hit on front area trees stand to their left an aim will be suffciant. To the trees standing on the right if you continue, hidden from view is a cross bunker, being caught up in it is possible so be careful. Use a little low hit for the approch, a large club select for this.
Hole No. 6, 345 Yards, Par 4, Handicap 15
Hit low here, on this stright middle hole. For first hit on both sides there are crossbunkers so be careful, the fairway should be be kept in mind. Towards the green's front undertake, on the second hit a quick large hit is suffcent.
Hole No. 7, 355 Yards, Par 4, Handicap 9
Use a low hit, on this stright middle hole. With first hit hidden from view on the fairways left is a crossbunker avoid this, a little to the right the attack will be sufficant. Towards the green's front undertake, for second hit use a quick large hit.
Hole No. 8, 247 Yards, Par 3, Handicap 13
Use a quick low hit dispite the difficulty of this short hole. To the fairway it should go, from this side it will run into place.
Hole No. 9, 545 Yards, Par 5, Handicap 3
With its oppisote S shape, hit it low and little by little the continue hitting, tough is this Long Hole. Because there is no crossbunker, the first hit, and the second hit have same feeling as they are hit. The approch is also quite large.
Hole No. 10, 505 Yards, Par 5, Handicap 10
This has a left dogleg, for the second hit from that piont use a low hit on this middle hole. For first hit to the left is a crossbunker to avoid, a little to the right an attack there is suffcant. An unreasonable short cut is undo able. On the second hit one small club should be selected, and then from this side attack.
Hole No. 11, 371 Yards, Par 4, Handicap 14
Use a low hit on this stright middle hole. On fist hit because there is no entagling hazard, there is onl the fairway to keep in mind. Here Crossbunkers and at various degrees Gaurd bunkers are numorous, there is no approched from the left or right.
Hole No. 12, 400 Yards, Par 4, Handicap 2
Hit upward, on this nearly stright middle hole. Becuase there is no crossbunker a Long Drive aim is sufficant. On the second hit for the pin aim, use a quite large attach.
Hole No. 13, 200 Yards, Par 3, Handicap 16
A pond will be over passed here, hit low on this short hole. The pond if likily not to be taken in, on this side place it.
Hole No. 14, 383 Yards, Par 4, Handicap 8
A little to the left dogleg, hit upward, and then hit low on this middle hole. On first hit hazard hit it over, it's flying dispite the distance is important. The greens front get a feeling for, the secong hit should be a quite large attach.
Hole No. 15, 447 Yards, Par 4, Handicap 4
With a right dogleg, hit low on this middle hole. For first hit a short cut is possible, a hit that is low will will breack through. The green a little infront of it this will reach.
