The Brainiacs – S/T E.P. 7″

Easy to find a cheap yet underrated and neglected in my opinion. Don’t Tell Me Why is one hell of a obnoxious punk song. Take Me To Paris ain’t far behind. It’s simple and stupid but it just grabs me. The b-side is maybe why people ignore it? But Suzies… is totally ok and saved by the vocals. Ok it won’t be played that often I admit that. And Stunned just blows so after you’ve heard it you can delete it from your hard drive.

Boys Boys – S/T 7″

Let’s continue our punk rock journey to Japan with this somewhat underrated all-girl band. I have no idea of why most people don’t seems to care about this record, as the a-side is funfunfun tribal drum driven new wave and the b-side is a perfectly short punk smasher. And the singer have that kind of perfect vocal tone that sounds like a normal guy when you play the record on 33 rpm instead of 45. I just love when you can do that!

Suzannes – New Disease Sells In Europe! E.P. 7″

I’m not sure, but I believe the full title for this great Dutch EP is New Disease Sells In Europe!, otherwise the text on the backside of the sleeve makes no sense to me. Anyone here who knows? I’ve only seen it listed as New Disease E.P., but I like the full title a bit better.

6 songs recorded and put to vinyl as early as January 1978, which I think is pretty impressive as not that many bands had that many songs on a 45 rpm 7″ that early (the second EP from the Gizmos is the only other one I can think of right now, although it runs on 33 rpm). All songs are damn good as well! It’s not really something that sticks out, and it’s not the greatest thing from Holland ever, but it’s still a very, very solid record in my opinion. I don’t know if they were regarded as a punk band at the time, but to me they sound like a rougher power pop band with more than one nod to the Rolling Stones and mid 60′s garage rock. Nice melodies, tight musicianship and great melodic vocals. The more times in a row I play it, the more I like it. 2000 copies and pretty easy to find, so pick up your copy as they’re still cheaper than crappier record from the same period. There’s a second pressing with a different sleeve as well, but it seems like that one don’t show up as often as the first press.

The Deaf Aids – Heroes? 7″

Heroes? sounds like it’s a piss take of really bad rock bands. Can’t stand it at all. Bored Christine is what makes this 7inch worth spinning. A great hook laden power pop/punk track that’s in par with their first EP posted some months ago here. This was also released as a 12″ with a different looking sleeve.

Les Félés – S/T 7″

As I’ve said previously in the comments for The Size 7″, the 2013 trend in blogs are nicer posts, so therefor I waited til after christmas with this one as the sleeve might have upset you if it was posted before before Jesus’ birthday. I even think these teens sing something about killing Santa Claus in “Rouge comme le sang”, but my French is old and very rusty, so I might be mistaken, even if the photo on front and back of the sleeve indicates something in that way.

I prefer the song “Mon lycée”, but both songs are pre-puberty punk at it’s finest, and the French lingo is beautiful.

XOXO I love you all!
