A sonic tribute!

!!!Here Ain't The Sonics!!! (1989)
I'm not a fan of tribute albums, but I am a fan of the Sonics (and many bands on this record) so this'll have to do. Not a bad collection of tunes by a diverse assemblage of groups from around the country and beyond. Some big names here from the Pacific Northwest (Fallouts, Girl Trouble, Mono Men, Screaming Trees, to name a few), as well as The Cynics, Thee Headcoats, Nomads and many others. They ain't the Sonics, but they try.

Jack of diamonds

Nuggets Volume 8: The Northwest (1986)
Fresh from a library sale to your ears! Despite the hideous cover this is a surprise package, delving into the punkier/harder (and the occasional hippy) side of NW rock from 1963-69. Not a bad song on it: some you've heard, some you haven't. Now, it's your time!

Legendary with a capital L

The Sonics 'Maintaining My Cool' (1991)
These legendary garage punkers certainly need no introduction here. This CD contains most of the 'Introducing the Sonics' LP as well as other odds and sods "digitally remastered in glorious mono, the way this stuff was meant to be heard." You've got your head on backwards if you don't get this!

Various Artists - The History of Northwest Rock Volume 2: The Garage Years CD (1999, recorded 1963-68)
More garage rock from the Northwest, this time from the swingin' 60's. 22 cuts that'll knock you flat. A couple of the usual suspects, but quite a few not so usual. It's high time!
