The Dunmore Pineapple, a folly ranked "as the most bizarre building in Scotland", stands in Dunmore Park, near Airth in Stirlingshire, Scotland.
Dunmore Park, the ancestral home of the Earls of Dunmore, includes a large country mansion, Dunmore House, and grounds which contain, among other things, two large walled gardens. Walled gardens were a necessity for any great house in a northern climate in the eighteenth and nineteenth century, as a high wall of stone or brick helped to shelter the garden from wind and frost, and could create a microclimate in which the ambient temperature could be raised several degrees above that of the surrounding landscape. This allowed the cultivation of fruits and vegetables, and also of ornamental plants, which could not otherwise survive that far north.
The larger of the two gardens covers about six acres, located on a gentle south-facing slope. South-facing slopes are the ideal spot for walled gardens and for the cultivation of frost-sensitive plants. Along the north edge of the garden, the slope had probably originally been more steep. To allow both the upper and lower parts of the garden to be flat and level at different heights, it was necessary to bank up the earth on the higher northern side (away from the main house), behind a retaining wall about 16 feet high, and a solid 3 feet, 3 inches thick, which runs the entire length of the north side of the garden.
The Pineapple Thief is a progressive rock band, started by Bruce Soord in 1999 in Somerset, England.
Founder Bruce Soord started "The Pineapple Thief" as an outlet for his music back in 1999. Bruce released the debut Abducting the Unicorn on Cyclops records, which created enough interest to establish a small but loyal fan base. Soord returned to the Dining Room studios to work on the second album 137. During this time, several major labels started to take an interest, causing a delay in the release which arrived over two years after the debut. However it was probably the third album, Variations on a Dream that gave TPT the boost they needed, reaching out to yet more people all over the world, by which point TPT were consistently the top sellers on their label, Cyclops.
After this release in the spring of 2002 Bruce decided to form a band to take his music to the fans. The band consisted of his close musical friends - former university band mate Jon Sykes on bass, Wayne Higgins on guitars, Matt O'Leary on keyboards and Keith Harrison on drums. As a full band, they released 12 Stories Down in 2004, but Bruce Soord was unhappy with the final sound and re-recorded, remixed and changed some of the tracks before the release of 10 Stories Down in 2005. Matt O'Leary subsequently left the band, but Steve Kitch (who co-produced and mixed 10 Stories Down) joined to play keyboards.
Daniel "Danny" Cavanagh (born 6 October 1972) is an English guitarist and singer who formed the British band Anathema in 1990 with his brother Vincent Cavanagh. He is the band's principal songwriter, a role he had previously shared with bassist Duncan Patterson until Patterson's departure in 1998.
Cavanagh has been involved in other projects including Leafblade, an acoustic & Celtic rock band, (guitars and vocals), and Antimatter, the former band of ex-Anathema member Duncan Patterson. He also played guitar on the album In the Mushroom with Lid. Cavanagh also provided vocals on an album by French post rockers Spherical Minds and was a guest on the album Pure Air by Agua de Annique, providing vocals and guitar on "The Blowers Daughter".
Cavanagh was raised in Anfield, Liverpool, in a working-class family. He has mentioned that Dire Straits and in particular Mark Knopfler were his first musical influences, and along with Queen were responsible for leading the young Cavanagh towards learning guitar. The seed was cemented in 1985 with the Live Aid concert and this is an event that Cavanagh still mentions as being what he regards one of the finest moments in the history of music and of mankind. During his teenage years, Cavanagh discovered Iron Maiden who alongside bands like Metallica, Celtic Frost, Slayer, Bolt Thrower and later Paradise Lost, was a major influence in his interest in extreme metal.

Night was originally released in 2007. A musical interpretation of a dream or stream of consciousness, it was the band's first true concept album in that it is one long song split into five parts. This structure attempts to recreate the pattern of a dream where the mind of the dreamer floats in and out of different memories and worlds. The album explores the question of where dreams end and reality begins and the mind as the tool that has to decide what to believe. During the dream the 'character' travels through various memories, both real and imagined, and sees the world from the angles of different people. Jon-Arne describes the album as being, 'about life and the various ways of interpreting existence.' Night was Gazpacho's fourth studio album and was the album that introduced the ban...

The new solo album "Monochrome" from Anathema's pioneering songwriter Daniel Cavanagh is OUT NOW http://found.ee/MONOCHROME Monochrome is inspired by internal reflections on love and loss, making it a deeply personal album. Cavanagh elaborates: “The album has a late night, candlelit feeling, evoking the light of dusk as the summer sun sinks below the horizon, setting the scene for thoughts and meditations that many people will relate to. “A lot of this material could easily have made it on to the last Anathema album or any future album; that's how highly the band rate it. There are several highlights: "The Exorcist" and "The Silent Flight of the Raven Winged Hours" are among some of my best works of the last decade. Taking them from the band was not an easy decision but I am glad; they'r...

A roadtrip I did in the Highlands, Scotland in September 2016 seen through my lense. Started from Edinburgh, off to Glencoe, Fort WIlliams, Isle of Skye, Inverness, Cairngorms, and back to Edinburgh. Music: No Man's Land by The Pineapple Thief.
Airth Castle, Stirlingshire, Scotland, is steeped in history dating back to the 14th Century. The present castle here incorporates a 15th century tower, known as Wallace's Tower, but it has been extended several times, notably in the 19th century which obscured much of the earlier buildings. The castle was owned by the Bruce family before it passed to the Elphinstones and Dundas families before finally reaching the Grahams. The Graham family became Earls of Airth in 1633. The castle is now a hotel. Tour Scotland Scotland Tour Guide: Sandy Stevenson

The restaurant seats around a dozen people inside and there is room on the front porch for additional people and when we got there around 1 pm there were about 8 people. As you'll see in the video their surfboard offers a listing of the daily specials and I should mention that they are open for breakfast and lunch only Thursday through Monday. I ordered a chicken jerk panini and Sid had the turkey sandwich and they were both delicious. Well Sid told me her's was as I'm not a turkey lover to say the least so I didn't try it. Naturally everything is cooked and prepared individually and after we were done eating we had a nice talk with Jen, the owne...
