Fruit salad
Fruit salad is a dish consisting of various kinds of fruit, sometimes served in a liquid, either in their own juices or a syrup. When served as an appetizer or as a dessert, a fruit salad is sometimes known as a fruit cocktail or fruit cup. In different forms fruit salad can be served as an appetizer, a side-salad, or a dessert.
Description
There are a number of home recipes for fruit salad that contain different kinds of fruit, or that use a different kind of sauce other than the fruit's own juice or syrup. Common ingredients used in fruit salads include strawberries, pineapple, honeydew, watermelon,grapes, banana, and kiwifruit. Various recipes may call for the addition of nuts, fruit juices, certain vegetables, yogurt, or other ingredients.
One variation is a Waldorf-style fruit salad, which uses a mayonnaise-based sauce. Other recipes use sour cream (such as in ambrosia), yogurt or even mustard as the primary sauce ingredient. A variation on fruit salad uses whipped cream mixed in with many varieties of fruits (usually a mixture of berries), and also often include miniature marshmallows. Rojak, a Malaysian fruit salad, uses a spicy sauce with peanuts and shrimp paste. In the Philippines, fruit salads are popular party and holiday fare, usually made with buko, or young coconut, and condensed milk in addition to other canned or fresh fruit.

Fruit Salad is a type of "Raspberry & Pineapple flavour chew" according to its packaging. It is a chewy gelatin based confectionery. Fruit Salad is manufactured by Barratt in Spain.
While still manufactured under Tangerine Confectionery, Fruit Salad chews have been rebranded from Barratt to 'Candy Land' and the packaging, most notably the outer box, has been redesigned. (2013)

Combine all the ingredients above in a large bowl.
Mix the dressing ingredients together and spread over fruit, mix well.

Honey Lime Dressing
1/2 teaspoon lime zest
3 tablespoons lime juice
1 tablespoon honey
INSTRUCTIONS
Combine all the prepared fruit in a large glass bowl.
Combine lime zest, lime juice, and honey in a small bowl or spouted cup. Mix well
Pour the honey-lime dressing over the fruit and gently stir to combine. Serve and enjoy!
NOTES
This fruit salad will last in the fridge for 3-5 days when stored in an airtight container.
Use this recipe as a blueprint and sub in whatever fruits you have on hand.
When possible, choose fruits that are local and in season for the best flavor.

Serves 4-5 (per recipe)
Tropical Salad
INGREDIENTS
2 oranges, peeled and halved
12 ounces strawberries, quartered
2 mangoes, chopped
4 kiwis, peeled and chopped or sliced
Dressing
3 tablespoons lime juice
1 tablespoon maple syrup
PREPARATION
Combine all the ingredients above in a large bowl.
Mix the dressing ingredients together and spread over fruit, mix well.
Banana Berry
3 bananas, sliced
12 ounces strawberries, quartered
12 ounces raspberries
PREPARATION
Combine all the ingredients above in a large bowl.
Mix the dressing ingredients together and spread over fruit, mix well.
Mango Melon
INGREDIENTS
2 cups pineapple, cubed
2 cups cantaloupe, cubed
2 cups honeydew, cubed
2 cups mangoes, cubed
PREPARATION
Combine all the ingredients above in a large bowl.
Mix the dressing ingredients together and spread over fruit, mix well.
Melon Berry
INGREDIENTS
12 ounces strawberries, quartered

8 ounces blackberries
3 cups watermelon, cubed

In different forms fruit salad can be served as an appetizer, a side-salad, or a dessert.

There are a number of home recipes for fruit salad that contain different kinds of fruit, or that use a different kind of sauce other than the fruit's own juice or syrup. Common ingredients used in fruit salads include strawberries, pineapple, honeydew, watermelon,grapes, banana, and kiwifruit. Various recipes may call for the addition of nuts, fruit juices, certain vegetables, yogurt, or other ingredients.
One variation is a Waldorf-style fruit salad, which uses a mayonnaise-based sauce. Other recipes use sour cream (such as in ambrosia), yogurt or even mustard as the primary sauce ingredient. A variation on fruit salad uses whipped cream mixed in with many varieties of fruits (usually a mixture of berries), and also often include miniature marshmallows. Rojak, a Malaysian fruit salad, uses a spicy sauce with peanuts and shrimp paste. In the Philippines, fruit salads are popular party and holiday fare, usually made with buko, or young coconut, and condensed milk in addition to other canned or fresh fruit.
