I don’t know if we ever explained this. Yes, we’re Swedes writing in English but it’s not only cause it makes us feel a bit cooler and that we have a major crush on American Culture. It is also cause we have most readers outside of Sweden. Europe even. 45% of you readers are from the States. Sometimes I find it confusing explaineing typical Swedish things but I do hope you enjoy it and that our Swedish readers doesn’t get too bored with it.
Anyways. We made chocolate balls. One of my best sweets. And also Jenny’s. We always send images or texts to each other when making it. Sweet teasing. When I Googled the word and images in English – I found that most chocolate balls looked kind of different than in Sweden and I never really found them abroad. Here comes my best recipe. It’s taken from Ica.
You need:
100 gram real butter
1 dl sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla sugar
3 tablespoons cocoa (don’t do too much – better 2,5 spoons)
3 dl rolled oats
3 tablespoons cold strong coffee (I use instant coffee with cold water – works fine) here I tend to use a tad more coffee.
Pearl sugar or coconut flakes (but in my book – ALWAYS go for the pearl sugar)
How to:
1. Melt the butter in a normal saucepan. Let it bubble for a little while.
2. Mix sugar, vanilla, cocoa, oats and coffee in a bowl together with the butter. It has to be a good gooey mixture.
3. Put it in the fridge or even the freezer if you can’t wait, until the mix is kind of firm.
4. Make small balls – this recipe should give you about 30, a bit depending of how much you eat in the meanwhile.
5. Put the pearl sugar in a deep plate. Roll the balls until they are covered with sugar.
Now you can judge your character by either just eat them all directly or put them back in the fridge for a while until they are really firm and cold.
Warning:
Chocolate balls are like crack and you may need to exaggerate on the drink department afterwards.
xx
