North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (usually referred to by the acronym NERIST) is a science- and technology-oriented higher education institute in Nirjuli, Itanagar, in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. Established in 1984, it is a deemed university, autonomous, fully funded and controlled by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Education, Government of India.
The beginning of North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology was with a 1979 proposal by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh to establish a science and technology institute with the aim of providing education at various levels in a modular manner. A report, prepared by a team of professors from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad in 1981–82, was submitted to the North Eastern Council (NEC) which approved it, paving the way to the registering of the society for the institute on 11 January 1983. NEC set up a working group headed by Amitabha Bhattacharya of Jadavpur University, which submitted a project report and a work plan on October 1983. The report was approved by the Ministry of Education in December that year, though final approval from the Ministry of Education was on a letter dated 12 September 1985.
There is no rest for the wicked ones
dear god - what is this evil that we've done??
Is it that we wanted more than you gave
why did you put us then
in this smalltown grave
humility –is that what you want?
why did you make us then the way you did??
yes,
we have pride
yes,
we have pride –
is this our sin?
is this our sin?!
4 O'clock in the morning,
still we cannot sleep
turning overturning round twisting in our sweat
they say there is no rest for the wicked ones
dear god - what have we done?
there is no rest for the wicked ones
dear god - what is this evil that we've done??
Is it the times that we've been out fighting?well i'll tell you all those times –
we never really hurt anybody
or is it that we were eating
while other people were starving
is this our crime?
is this our crime??!
4 O'clock...
Is it the times we laughed about it all
through all those whisky nights so far away
yes,
we have betrayed you
yes,
we have betrayed you –
is this our crime?
is this our crime?!
We greet each day with bloodshot eyes
The dirt of our labor still clinging to our hands
Filled with our warped intentions
The tread of our shoes filled with foreign sands
The sun laughs in all our faces
It shows a world that we can't save
So now, armed with blades in hand
We cut a path from birth to grave
We don't know where we're going
But we know that we're getting there
No rest
For the blessed
Long lives
For the wicked
Say hey
We don't think like you think
And we move like no one moves
With a song on our lips, across the land
Born to traverse
We don't think like you think
And we move like no one moves
With a song on our lips, across the land
Born to traverse
We don't know where we're going
But we know, we will get there
No rest
For the blessed
Long Lives
For the wicked
Like a car crash
Like a landmine
Like mixing drugs, we are dangerous
Like a snake's tooth
Like thin ice
Like mixing blood, we are dangerous
No rest
For the blessed
Long lives
For the wicked
I used to be a king alone
Like Solomon or Rehoboam
And in the eaves, the Corvidae
Did jealous keep my picture frames
And everything did oxidate in place.
But then you came, a single cell
With astrolabe and carousel
And algebra and symmetry
And none of this was lost on me
And I could see how still I'd been before
If I don't eat, I don't sleep at all
Like limbs in procession,
Like so many birds
Stampeding like oxen,
Our hearts are a herd
I loved you in the bed
I loved you in the best way possible
I loved you in the bed
Did you see the light in my heart?
Did you see the sweat on my brow?
Did you see the fear in my heart?
Did you see me bleeding out?
I loved you in the bed
I loved you in the best way possible
I loved you in the best way possible
I loved you in the best way possible
