Latin Pronunciation: Classical versus Italian (Carmenta Online Latin School)
www.CarmentaLatin.com Latin Pronunciation: Classical versus Italian This is just one in a series of video blogs from the Carmenta Online Latin Classroom. Please do not hesitate to comment or subscribe, and please pass this page along to anyone you think might be interested. My name is Andrew. I teach Latin online through the Carmenta Online Latin Classroom to students around the world. The Latin classes I teach are completely live, with live audio and video. All students in the class are able to speak live with me and with each other while the class is in session through Skype conference calling, and all students see a live video feed of me, the teacher, as I am teaching the class. The Carmenta course meets three times per week and is a serious course, for serious students who are interested in learning the Latin language. It is equivalent to a good high-school- or college-level course taken in a traditional setting, but it brings with it the flexibility and convenience of the internet. *Please visit my web site. It contains information on the course, my blog on Latin and English topics, and a number of other extras that you hopefully will find interesting. www.CarmentaLatin.com Email Instructor@CarmentaLatin.com

Saturday Night 東方Touhou Classic/Latin Jazz 157
Title: Asteroid Blues Artist: Tuck.よしひさ (Tuck.Yoshihisa) Circle: SOUND HOLIC Album: SOUND HOLIC MEETS TOHO ~東方的夢天幻奏典~ Original: 車椅子の未来宇宙 (Future Universe of Wheelchair) It's Saturday night, I'm sure most of you guys are tired from the heavy week (especially those with work/school on Saturdays, ie me). So, I hope we can all relax to some Latin jazz and maybe even stargaze, if the sky lets us. If those maracas, the sax and that wonderful guitar solo (which is around 2 minutes long) can't relax you, I don't really know what can. -------- Future Universe of Wheelchair (History of Time): Eternal romance, universe of wheelchair. ...What's the greatest common problem between private Moon Tour and physics? "Yet, the manned Martian probe still hasn't been successful. I wonder if we can witness the universe imagined by Hawking." "But in the end, the problem is that we don't have any physicists that can surpass Hawking. "My, couldn't you do it if you work hard, Renko? You have a rare ability." "My field is a different one. Well, maybe I am as smart as Planck. Plus, I don't think they could observe the black hole evaporation that Hawking predicted. And more, mankind hasn't even gone to Mars." "Oh my, how pessimistic. But if you are saying it, then it must be true." "The amounts of energy needed in order to observe it are enormous. In fact, theoretically, and effectively, observational physics is coming to an end. And by the way, the Moon Tour is too expensive ...

I wanted to do something different, and record the prayer using the Classical model. Our Lord's Prayer in Latin read by me with a Classical Pronunciation. See www.filiuslunae.com for details on the pronunciation scheme. PATER noster, qui es in caelis; sanctificatur nomen tuum: Adveniat regnum tuum; fiat voluntas tua, sicut in caelo, et in terra. Panem nostrum cotidianum da nobis hodie: Et dimitte nobis debita nostra, sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris: et ne nos inducas in tentationem: sed libera nos a malo. Amen.

Classical Education - Why Latin?
Why Do Classical Education Proponents Insist on Teaching Latin? Messiah Lutheran Classical Academy Keller, Texas 76248. In a previous video we learned "What is Classical Education?", as seen from a parents perspective. This revealed what the value of classical education is, what it consists of, and why a classical curriculum is being embraced by so many Christian schools and other private educational organizations, including Messiah Lutheran Classical Academy in Keller, Texas. We learned about the trivium, logic & rhetoric, and many other facets of classical studies. We found that these more traditional subjects build skills that are no longer being taught in our modern schools. Here we will be dealing with a subject that lies at the core of classical education - Latin grammar. The study of Latin is indeed considered one of the great advantages of a Classical Education. It is a core subject in the Classical Education curriculum. Why do these educators insist on Latin? What is so important about a "dead language"? Thinking of Latin as only a dead language, one that is not spoken today, does not do this fundamental language justice. True, it is not spoken today, but it is the root of many languages. Understanding Latin helps understand other languages as well as our own. Latin is even the root of about 50% of our own English language. A student that is well grounded in Latin will have a superior vocabulary and will have a better understanding of what a word really means. A ...

Tridentine Latin Mass: Last Sunday after Pentecost (1/8)
[Part 1 of 8] Missa Cantata, or sung Low Mass, offered on the Last Sunday after Pentecost at the Roman Catholic Parish of St. Nicholas of Chardonnet in Paris, France. This is the Eucharistic liturgy of the Roman Rite of the Catholic Church celebrated according to the 1962 Roman Missal (Missale Romanum), also commonly referred to as the Tridentine Rite, or Tridentine Mass, or Tridentine Latin Mass, or Old Latin Mass, or classical Latin Mass, or Traditional Latin Mass (TLM). This same Mass may be viewed or downloaded on Google as one full-length video: video.google.com A "missa cantata" is an approved form of celebration of the Traditional Roman Rite of Mass which serves as a compromise between a Low Mass (which involves no music or incense, by definition) and a Solemn High Mass (which has strict instructions and requirements for celebration that cannot be met in many parishes). For more information, please read this fine article in the 1913 Catholic Encyclopedia: www.newadvent.org The texts of the Latin prayers, and English translations of the same, which are common to every Traditional Latin Mass can be found here: www.sacred-texts.com

"Liberi Fatali" Lyrics Translated to English
---IMPORTANT READ THIS IMPORTANT--- "Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec" are all made up words and have no english translation, though if you cared to know, "Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec" is an anagram for "Succession of Witches" with the word "Love" left over. The first translated lyrics appear at 1:05. This song was written by Nobuo Uematsu for the game Final Fantasy VIII, and it is in Latin. 100% of the lyrics used in this video are from this website: www.fflyrics.com Also I apologize for the somewhat crappy quality of this particular MP3.
