A court reporter or court stenographer, also called stenotype operator, shorthand reporter or law reporter, is a person whose occupation is to transcribe spoken or recorded speech into written form, using shorthand, machine shorthand or voice writing equipment to produce official transcripts of court hearings, depositions and other official proceedings. Court reporting companies primarily serve private law firms, local, state and federal government agencies, courts, trade associations, meeting planners and nonprofits.
The court reporter in some states is required to be a notary public who is authorized to administer oaths to witnesses, and who certifies that his or her transcript of the proceedings is a verbatim account of what was said. Many states require a court reporter to hold a certification obtained through the National Court Reporters Association or the National Verbatim Reporters Association, although some require their own state-specific certification.

Plot: Leeanne Rosser a strong but world-weary 20 year-old solo mother, sits on a hot train with her one-year-old, half-Samoan son Sam. It's her mother's birthday and Leeanne and Sam put up with the heat to visit her in Wainuiomata. But her mother is feeling the pull of the church, and refuses to accept Leeanne's baby born out of marriage. Leeanne's father is helpless to bring them together. Unknown to all of them, Leeanne's brother Brent is out creating mischief. He pretends to be a student or a bible salesman, and then robs houses when their owners are absent. Today an unsuspecting victim, Ulla, returns home during his robbery. Brent panics and sends Ulla plummeting down the steps with a sickening crack. For Leeanne and her family, and Ulla and her family, from that moment on, everything is changed. Ulla is paralyzed, her neck broken. Ulla has a 15 year-old daughter Olivia and an estranged husband Athol, who still lives at home and buries himself in his rental properties. Her husband's mother Gwen lives next door, having divorced Howard after a 40-year marriage. Gwen is the only person who can take responsibility for Ulla. For Leeanne, too, things reach a breaking point, after Danny brings home another girl to live in the flat. She returns to Wainuiomata to seek shelter with her parents, but her mother refuses them again. Brent sees a composite drawing of himself in a newspaper, as the man who is wanted for the crime. He realizes that his fingerprints will be found on Ulla's banister. He attempts to unload some of Ulla's stolen jewelery on Mrs. Ponder, an antique/junk dealer who acts as his 'fence'. But she is too smart, and soon knows Brent is wanted by the police. Brent is left with nowhere to turn but inward, into his own paranoia and fears. Mrs. Ponder puts pressure on Brent to leave the country. When Leeanne visits his flat to ask if she and Sam can come to live there, he loses his temper and sends them away in tears. One day as Leeanne is watching Sam on the swings at a waterfront park, a helicopter comes swooping out of the sky, almost knocking them to the ground with its downblast. Howard and his potential investors step out to survey the site, and Leeanne lets loose on them. It is a chance interaction that makes him realize he must re-evaluate his life. Two policemen are getting closer to Brent. But he has vanished. Leeanne, forced out of her home by a bullying boyfriend, ends up at Brent's flat with Sam, only to find it empty and trashed. It isn't long before the police swoop in and claim that Leeanne is implicated in her brother's crimes. Both families are now at breaking point. Brent's fate may lie in his own hands, but it will be Leeanne's strength and dedication to her child that will carry hope for the future.

Plot: In 1893, Gandhi is thrown off a South African train for being an Indian and traveling in a first class compartment. Gandhi realizes that the laws are biased against Indians and decides to start a non-violent protest campaign for the rights of all Indians in South Africa. After numerous arrests and the unwanted attention of the world, the government finally relents by recognizing rights for Indians, though not for the native blacks of South Africa. After this victory, Gandhi is invited back to India, where he is now considered something of a national hero. He is urged to take up the fight for India's independence from the British Empire. Gandhi agrees, and mounts a non-violent non-cooperation campaign of unprecedented scale, coordinating millions of Indians nationwide. There are some setbacks, such as violence against the protesters and Gandhi's occasional imprisonment. Nevertheless, the campaign generates great attention, and Britain faces intense public pressure. Too weak from World War II to continue enforcing its will in India, Britain finally grants India's independence. Indians celebrate this victory, but their troubles are far from over. Religious tensions between Hindus and Muslims erupt into nation-wide violence. Gandhi declares a hunger strike, saying he will not eat until the fighting stops. The fighting does stop eventually, but the country is divided. It is decided that the northwest area of India, and eastern part of India (current day Bangladesh), both places where Muslims are in the majority, will become a new country called Pakistan (West and East Pakistan respectively). It is hoped that by encouraging the Muslims to live in a separate country, violence will abate. Gandhi is opposed to the idea, and is even willing to allow Muhammad Ali Jinnah to become the first prime minister of India, but the Partition of India is carried out nevertheless. Gandhi spends his last days trying to bring about peace between both nations. He thereby angers many dissidents on both sides, one of whom finally gets close enough to assassinate him.

http://miamicourtreportingservices.com/ | Recently in a few different articles found on the Internet a trial was aborted for the misuse of information found in the transcripts. A journalist was found to have used the transcripts to write a story about a murder and its progress during the court hearing. Even though the judges tell their jurors NOT to discuss a case, there’s still plenty of chances for them to be exposed to information since things like social media have exploded. Court reporters have to stay neutral during a trial. But, they can lead a private life that could get them into trouble. "Paula Isenberg still remembers the expression on a frail old Jewish man's face as he testified just a few feet in front of her. He had watched his entire family being killed before his eyes. She recalls a Nazi camp doctor who covered his face with his hands while a prosecutor showed a film revealing the horrors of Buchenwald, a concentration camp that was one of the first and largest in Germany. She will never forget one of the first items entered into evidence at the Buchenwald trials: the shrunken head of a Polish prisoner, its thick, dark hair still attached." Verve Magazine, 2010. Then a young member of the Women's Auxiliary Army Corps (WAAC), Paula Isenberg served as a court reporter for the 1947 American Military Tribunal trials of 31Nazi defendants charged with crimes committed at...
