Khan Academy is a non-profit educational organization created in 2006 by educator Salman Khan with the aim of providing a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere. The organization produces short lectures in the form of YouTube videos. In addition to micro lectures, the organization's website features practice exercises and tools for educators. All resources are available for free to anyone around the world. The main language of the website is English, but the content is also available in other languages.
The founder of the organization, Salman Khan, was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States to immigrant parents from Bangladesh and India. After earning three degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (a BS in mathematics, a BS in electrical engineering and computer science, and an MEng in electrical engineering and computer science), he pursued an MBA from Harvard Business School.
In late 2004, Khan began tutoring his cousin Nadia who needed help with math using Yahoo!'s Doodle notepad. When other relatives and friends sought similar help, he decided that it would be more practical to distribute the tutorials on YouTube. The videos' popularity and the testimonials of appreciative students prompted Khan to quit his job in finance as a hedge fund analyst at Connective Capital Management in 2009, and focus on the tutorials (then released under the moniker "Khan Academy") full-time.
The metric system is an internationally agreed decimal system of measurement. It was originally based on the mètre des Archives and the kilogramme des Archives introduced by the First French Republic in 1799, but over the years the definitions of the metre and the kilogram have been refined, and the metric system has been extended to incorporate many more units. Although a number of variants of the metric system emerged in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the term is now often used as a synonym for "SI" or the "International System of Units"—the official system of measurement in almost every country in the world.
The metric system has been officially sanctioned for use in the United States since 1866, but the US remains the only industrialised country that has not adopted the metric system as its official system of measurement. Many sources also cite Liberia and Myanmar as the only other countries not to have done so. Although the United Kingdom uses the metric system for most official purposes, the use of the imperial system of measure, particularly among the public, is widespread and is permitted by the law.
Fifth grade (called Grade 5 in some regions) is a year of education in many nations. The fifth grade is the fifth school year after kindergarten. Students are usually 10–13 years old. Depending on the school district, the grade may be in one of the following scenarios: the first year of middle school, the last year of elementary school, the last year of intermediate school, or none of those. Also, in other schools Grade 4 and 5 are one school. In Asian countries like India, fifth grade education is also known as 'class 5' which is usually the last grade of the primary education system.
While courses of study are not regimented nationwide across either country, some conventional expectations of subject matter are generally taught in this grade:

As in Shinkai's previous works, Tenmon composed this film's soundtrack. The film was awarded Best Animated Feature Film at the 2007 Asia Pacific Screen Awards. The DVD was released on 19 July 2007.

In this video, Mahalo math expert Allison Moffett shows you how to convert inches to centimeters. Convert Inches to Centimeters --------------------------------------------------------------------- To convert inches to centimeters, first you need the conversion factor. One inch is equal to 2.54 centimeters. You can then use this to convert any amount of inches to centimeters or vice versa. For example, if you have two inches and you want to know how many centimeters equal the equivalent, use the conversion factor 1/2.54 and set it equal to the value you want to find. In this case, that means 1/2.54=2/X. Cross multiply to find that X=2(2.54). This means that since the two sides are equal you can multiply the bottom of the first and the top of the second and set it equal to the top of the...

"There's an overview of what happens in 5 Cm Per Second on Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5_Centimeters_Per_Second So basically Takaki and Akari went off to their own ways in the future, with Akari engaged to another man, and Takaki is seemingly on a breakdown and it seems like he still hasn't gotten over the past. At the very end scene though when they crossed each other by the railtracks, they try to look back but is cut in a by a train. Once the train is past, we see that Akari has already left as the train went by symbolising that she has already moved on with her life. I also suppose that it was it was this scene that Takaki has finally moved on as well, as he chose continued walking his way instead of chasing back after her. We don't really see Kanae though at the end, we ...

Steve Townson shows me how much fun it is to catch Peacock Bass. According to Youtube member 'mackibm,' The fish that appears in the video is the Peacock Butterfly, is one of three species of the Amazon River basin. The Butterfly is smaller than his brother, the great Peacock Açu, which can weigh more than 24 pounds. The species of the Amazon region need very hot water. For regions with colder climate, the peacock blue fits more easily. Peacock bass is the common name in English for a group of closely related species of tropical, freshwater fish of the genus Cichla, native to the Amazon River basin of South America. Lions are large felines that are traditionally depicted as the "king of the jungle." These big cats once roamed Africa, Asia and Europe. However, now they are found in only two areas of the world and are classified into two subspecies. Asiatic lions live in India's Gir Forest; African lions live in central and southern Africa. Though they look similar, these two subspecies are very different in size, habitat, diet and more. Size & characteristics The African lion is 4.5 to 6.5 feet (1.4 to 2 meters) long from its head to its rump, and its tail measures from 26.25 to 39.5 inches (67 to 100 centimeters) long. African lions typically weigh 265 to 420 lbs. (120 to 191 kilograms). Asiatic lions tend to be much bigger, according to the World Wildlife Federation (WWF). They weigh 300 to 500 l...

by Lars Aksel For spatial data systems where it's important to avoid overlap, gaps and give any end users a easy way to update the map, Postgis Topology is a must. Let's look a some headlines : * Normalize data, for instance shared edges should only be represented once. Why : Avoid the possibility for gaps , overlaps, spikes and other error in the result. * Must be simple to expand or reduce a polygon surface even if the border line contains thousands of points. Why : Moving many points on a screen is difficult and time consuming and its's often is easier just to draw a new line that shows just the new part of the border. * Only the actual changes should be written to the database. Why : Or else you may get problems because of projections and different number off decimals and a point ...
