Mystery Time An Alex Kertész Mystery by Janet Hannah
An American microbiologist dies on stage as he is about to lecture at a scientific congress in Prague, an apparent victim of local criminals. Professor Hildegard Kraus from Heidelberg and her Hungarian born colleague Alex Kertész from Jerusalem, who hear his last words, are left wondering whether one the the assembled scientists might be the real killer. Whoever it was has also taken Hildegard's watch, a treasured family keepsake with an intriguing history. Booklist said about The Wish to Kill, the first Alex Kertész mystery, "First novelist Hannah has hit upon an engaging premise;a mystery series starring a research scientist working at the University of Jerusalem. She has the makings of a good series: a sympathetic hero and an intriguing, nicely evoked setting." Murder with a French Accent, the second book in the series, takes Alex to Toulouse, where a biotech company has run into trouble trying to produce a genetically engineered strain of bacteria that he created. In Mystery Time, book number three, Alex and Hildegard are faced with two mysteries. One involves the death of their colleague and the other is the mystery surrounding the old watch and its special relationship to time.

The Killing Joke
A Short Film by Sebastian Lopez
The Killing Joke is a 15 minute suspense/fiction short film about a mysterious woman that finds a red balloon tied up to a curious little box on an eery derelict street. Using classic elements of suspense and working within a seventies aesthetic, 'The Killing Joke' is an action packed film that pays homage to some of the horror movies from that era.
The piece was shot during four intense days of filming in the Argentinian capital Buenos Aires. The micro budget production was shot using just two 7d canon cameras. The composition and CGI effects for 'The Killing Joke' required months of 'invisible' digital retouching to create the panoramic, yet claustrophobic atmosphere that pervades throughout the movie.
The Film editor was Sabrina Mottino.
Sebastián López wrote and directed the story, and was also responsible for all the impressive post and composition work.
Colin Devlin created the Original Soundtrack, working from his home studio in LA he collaborated on the project with Sebastian from it's inception, creating a wonderful striking symmetry between sound and image. This is the second collaboration for Sebastian and Colin, the first being an action packed trailer created for a fictitious movie called 'Vertical' that went viral on the net, creating a serious buzz for the young director.
Actors Gustavo Marzo and Clarisa Staracci Worked together to portray the intense characters seen on screen.
The Killing Joke was a work of entire dedication and effort.

Aside from a few running-around-in-the-woods-with-guns-when-I-was-fourteen unfinished short films, this is my first film. I made it because I love all the different aspects of filmmaking, because I was tired of my fear of failure, and because I wanted to see what would happen if I just finished one. Maybe this will lead to bigger and better films; maybe not. Either way I learned something.
The story was largely born from its constraints. It had to be doable in my free time, and I had to be able to shoot it during my vacation in Nags Head, NC—with a budget of only $50, to cover the props (I'd previously owned the Canon T2i, lenses, and Logic Pro, and used the free 30-day trial of FCPX). I wanted it to be a simple story with a mysterious twist or two.
I got lots of advice from fellow filmmakers—Andrew, Mitchell, Kyle, Brian, Shepherd, Drew, David, and others. If you like the film, thank you Andrew, Mitchell, Kyle, Brian, Shepherd, Drew, and David. If you thought it was rubbish, they only tried to make it better than it was. And thanks again to Abbie and Gabe, without whose talents I couldn't have made it.
Some have asked about Emily; the film wasn't written about her (she passed away while it was in post-production), but she was a dear friend of my family and many others, and it was an honor to dedicate it to her memory.
Many of you know far more about filmmaking than I do, so please feel free to offer any critique.
The Lights Film School blog interviewed me about the making of the film and overcoming fear of failure: http://www.lightsfilmschool.com/blog/short-film-canon-t2i-low-budget/1780/

MIRACLE
‘Cause a taxi in town is like an interlude, a starting point opening up the prospect of a retreat into oneself. Just for a few minutes. Lou escapes, drifts, fantasizing the rising water in the taxi immersing her in a “beyond” which is not her everyday life. A kind of romanticism. Another kind. A contemplation lulled by the music of “Four Tet” and “The bewitched hands on the top of their hands”.
The water becomes a beach, a mysterious island, a seashore so remote from noise as urban fictions. Exile is here and now. A time of levitation. The other girl on the beach: another life. The story is divided in two, speeds up some more, a disheveled fantasy charged with the music clashing against the eardrums. (“Loud-E Africa”). This undisturbed sea sets off to a staccato tempo, comes to a forest where the drumbeats rouse impetuous emotions into movement. The girls move, the girls fly, the girls dance, the girls live. No sun around, however, colours touch the dresses and become tropically sultry extending right to the prints. The path has been found: a dazzling energy expands to the image, to the sound.
The performance doesn’t stop. The girls tussle in a cascade of colours that almost stain the screen like a tribal rite and celebrate the triumph of being alive. So alive.
For summer 2011, Vanessa Bruno has given the director Stephanie Di Giusto free rein to interpret the collection where colour and prints open up a new scope for the brand. A time in exile like a trip where one’s bag is stuffed with items, clothes and exotic accessories to energize a Western wardrobe. On the horizon, a film that gives us a glimpse of the changes in the brand, from gentle romanticism, trademark of Vanessa Bruno to expressing herself in Technicolor, in movement and with whirling energy. Actresses Lou Doillon, the designer’s muse and Jessica Joffe interpret with amazing freedom the will to exalt colour and sensations.
