Scratch Input (Chris Harrison, Scott Hudson) - UIST '08
More info: chrisharrison.net Scratch Input: Creating Large, Inexpensive, Unpowered and Mobile Finger Input Surfaces We present Scratch Input, an acoustic-based input technique that relies on the unique sound produced when a fingernail is dragged over the surface of a textured material, such as wood, fabric, or wall paint. We employ a simple sensor that can be easily coupled with existing surfaces, such as walls and tables, turning them into large, unpowered and ad hoc finger input surfaces. Our sensor is sufficiently small that it could be incorporated into a mobile device, allowing any suitable surface on which it rests to be appropriated as a gestural input surface. Several example applications were developed to demonstrate possible interactions. We conclude with a study that shows users can perform six Scratch Input gestures at about 90% accuracy with less than five minutes of training and on wide variety of surfaces.

The notorious input lag decides to be a major problem for me this episode. If anyone knows what makes this problem come up, or how to fix it... me love you long time. For those of you who don't know, Dark Souls has a tendency to (seemingly at random) either completely ignore some of the buttons you press or delay their action for a few seconds. Obviously, in a game like Dark Souls, that shit doesn't fly. This is also skimming over glitches like attacks ignoring blocks be it by dead angling or something just bugging, enemies doing weird shit, and the everpresent lag in PvP. I really do like this game, I just wish it worked a bit better :( Also, I've come to the conclusion everyone who dickwraiths in Anor Londo is just a 0 skill BS fisher. I wish I would have just counter BS'd the first guy, I could have easily 3 different times. If someone starts BS fishing from now on though, honor is out the window. Minecraft Tech - Pistons - Temporary Input, Permanent Output
In this pistons installment, I incorporate pistons in a redstone circuit itself to convert temporary power to permanent power. Levers work great until you want something to come on and remain on when a pressure plate is triggered. That's when the redstone and piston examples come into play. Piston version at 4:15 You could say that I've found a way to use pistons as a new redstone block that short-circuits redstone. Created in Beta 1.4 using the pistons mod. I also use the single player commands mod when performing large-scale testing.
