Raw: New British Antarctic Station Revealed
Britain's latest Antarctic research station is being unveiled 100 years after Capt. Robert Falcon Scott's Antarctic expeditions. Teams worked in freezing conditions to create 'Halley VI', located 10-thousand miles from the United Kingdom. (Feb. 5)

ANTARCTICA! The 1939-41 Admiral Byrd's 3rd Antarctic Mission (1 of 6)
romanoarchives.altervista.org digilander.libero.it Antarctica (1941) Part 1 of 6 Officially the Adm. Byrd's mission was a geographical, biological and metereological one. In facts the US Intelligence was really concerned about the Nazi research of the secret Antarctic Doors, according to the "Hollow Earth" theory. There were also rumours about a Nazi "Secret Disk-Shaped Planes Factory and Military Air Base" in the area. The possibility of the passage of unknown weapons and Axis' troops through the Earth, able to hit the USA by surprise from the underground, was taken in serious consideration by the American Intelligence at the end of the 1930ies. To control the Germans in their activities in "Neu-Schwabenland" was considered a priority in the early times of WW2, at least before Pearl Harbor's attack and the US involvement in the conflict. In this recently declassified original silent footage there's much more that meets the eye than the trip to Antarctic and the daily life of the crew. There are really revealing and unexpected shots here and there... The official version of this mission's history is available here: www.south-pole.com We are calling "Fair Use" for the musical soundtracks (Demo Only) added in 2010 by ROMANO-ARCHIVES to the 6 parts of this silent film. Dramatic video of Clelia II Antarctic cruise ship slammed by giant waves
A US-operated Antarctic cruise ship with 160 people aboard has lost an engine in high seas, but is limping safely to its scheduled port. The Argentine Navy said the Clelia II declared an emergency on Tuesday, reporting it had lost an engine amid heavy seas and 55 miles per hour (90 km per hour) winds. The ship, operated by Polar Cruises of Bend, Oregon, has 100 passengers and 60 crew members aboard. Courtesy: jonbowermaster.com RT on Facebook: www.facebook.com RT on Twitter: twitter.com

Antarctica Time lapse: A Year on Ice
Check out my new Antarctica Year on Ice feature film!: www.frozensouth.com Go to www.antarcticimages.com for a better quality version of this clip. This is a demo clip I did back in 2005 to demonstrate the potential for time-lapse imgery in Antarctica. This time-lapse video was filmed in Antarctica, in and around McMurdo Station and Scott Base back in 2005. Each year the sun is below the horizon for 4 months in the middle of winter, and above the horizon for 4 months in summer. During the couple of months in between we have more-or-less normal days. Includes shots of auroras and the very rare polar stratospheric nacreous clouds, which form when ozone depleting gases crystallize in the upper atmosphere in the intense cold. Summer population is about 1200 people, winter about 200. Check out my other videos as well for more of life on the Ice. For those of you who have been asking about the music I used here, the first piece of music is "Whirl-Y-Reel" by Afro Celt Sound System, the second is "The Grand Finale" from the Edward Scissorhands soundtrack by Danny Elfman. Both are available at most music outlets.

euronews science - British Antarctic team to search for new life in sub-glacial lake
www.euronews.com British scientists are due to begin drilling the ice sheet of Antarctica to reach a previously hidden lake. They hope a deep probe of Lake Ellsworth will reveal new forms of life kilometres beneath the ice. The team is attempting to cut through 3.2 kilometres of ice to the lake which has been cut off from the world for up to 500000 years. The 12-man team will melt a 36 centimetre-wide borehole using a specialised hot-water drill. By pumping 90000 litres of water through a continuous, 3.5 kilometre hose, the team is hoping to break through to the sub-glacial lake. Once through the ice, samples will be taken from the sludge on the lake bed, which could have been cut off from Earth's predominant evolutionary processes for millions of years. The scientist's team coordinator Chris Hill told Euronews: "What we actually find in the lake will be very interesting. We could find any number of orders of microbial life and that will be very interesting in itself. To find out how those microbes are surviving in such an extreme environment." The lake bed sediments have the potential to paint a picture of the history of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet in a way never seen before. The microbes that scientists will find could also hold clues as to the nature of the planet's past climate. And scientists add that if life can withstand even the deepest, darkest and most isolated conditions for thousands and thousands of years, then it has the ability to exist anywhere -- and by ...

Suggestions that modest increases in sea ice around Antarctica offset significant losses in Arctic sea ice are based on a bogus "apples and oranges" comparison. NASA | Tohoku Tsunami Creates Antarctic Icebergs

Byrd's First Antarctic Expedition 1928
Byrd Antarctic Expedition 1928. Richard E. Byrd "In 1928, Admiral Byrd began his first expedition to the Antarctic involving two ships, and three airplanes: Byrd's Flagship was The City of New York; a Ford Trimotor called the Floyd Bennett (named after the recently deceased pilot of Byrd's previous expeditions); a Fairchild FC-2W2, NX8006, built 1928, named "Stars And Stripes" (now displayed at the Virginia Aviation Museum, on loan from the National Air and Space Museum); and a Fokker Universal monoplane called the Virginia (Byrd's birth state). A base camp named "Little America" was constructed on the Ross Ice Shelf and scientific expeditions by snowshoe, dog-sled, snowmobile, and airplane began. Photographic expeditions and geological surveys were undertaken for the duration of that summer, and constant radio communications were maintained with the outside world. After their first winter, their expeditions were resumed, and on 28 November 1929, the famous flight to the South Pole and back was launched. Byrd, along with pilot Bernt Balchen, co-pilot/radioman Harold June, and photographer Ashley McKinley, flew the Ford Trimotor to the South Pole and back in 18 hours, 41 minutes. They had difficulty gaining enough altitude, and they had to dump empty gas tanks, as well as their emergency supplies, in order to achieve the altitude of the Polar Plateau. However, the flight was successful, and it entered Byrd into the history books. After a further summer of exploration, the ...

Jackit Game Adventures - Pole's Big Adventure - World 4 Antarctic
In this world, it's the ice world! Complete with ice physics, penguins, and acts that would make animals cry. Welcome to my farsighted Let's Play of Pole's Big Adventure. Farsighted being I've played the first world full and the first level of the second, but nothing more before. Pole's Big Adventure is a Japanese exclusive WiiWare title inspired by Super Mario Brothers. My friend Slashy forced me to play, at least in exchange for him to join me in the commentary. Just because this is the first time I've done a game of this level of... adultness. I have to emphasize this is not a Let's Play for kids. There will be content not for the kiddies in the game, therefore I didn't even bother censoring any swearing that may pop up. Co-commentator channel: www.youtube.com

Psycopath Geoengineers Artificially Melt Antarctic to Drill for Oil
It appears controlling the issuance of currency is not enough for our global parasite leaders. Now they are adding chemicals and toxins to the air they can control the weather like gods. Global Geoengineering Governance: Currently the US Government, our military, NASA, NOAA (other US agencies), any city, county, state, private indivduals, corporations, foreign governments, and foreign corporations, can initiate any type of geoengineering experiments without public knowledge, consent, government restrictions or public debate. Recent Research by the ADC has led to some interesting findings with regard to both Alaska and the Arctic areas. It appears that many government agencies and leaders in the United States have discussed how the natural resources of these areas could be exploited if these areas were artificially warmed. www.infowars.com http www.agriculturedefensecoalition.org
