Top of Loughcrew, County Meath , Ireland. Loughcrew is a Neolithic passage tomb, aged around 3200 BC, which makes it older than the pyramids. This was my first time to the top of Loughcrew and this is video of my first few minutes there. One of my friends who was with me, said, " The gods are talking to you"... I have to admit I nearly ran back down the mountain, but it was spectacular there.

A tour of of my fathers home town, Trim in Ireland. Filmed by my dad Chris and navigated by his sister Kathleen in 1989. All Rights Reserved. Trim, Irish Baile Átha Troim ("Ford of the Elder Bushes"), market town and seat of County Meath, Ireland, on the River Boyne. It was important from ancient times and was the seat of a bishopric. St. Patrick is said to have founded a monastery there in 432; there are remnants of a 13th-century Augustinian abbey, two gates from the town walls, and extensive remains of Trim Castle, which was founded in 1173 and was incorporated in the 13th century into the largest Anglo-Norman fortress in Ireland. St. Patrick's Church (1499) with its castellated tower became a Church of Ireland.

We visited the stone age grave sites by the river Boyne, Knowth and Newgrange, and the visitors' center. The entire area is known as Brú na Bóinne. The graves are about 5000 years old, and the complex contains a lot of the world's megalithic art.

A video stroll around Trim, Co.Meath
Trim. Yes, it is. Very trim indeed. Prior to visiting Trim this week, my only impression was via various scenes from "Braveheart" (yes, that film was recorded in Trim castle.) I was curious to see what it was like. Often, Irish towns are over-sold and then under-deliver. Not Trim. It was wonderful. A beautiful town, with a great location on the River Boyne. Over the town, looms the largest Norman castle in Ireland. It is also surrounded by other historic monuments - Tara, an Augustinian abbey and a Tudor house (where the Duke of Wellington went to school). Well done to the locals and Meath County Council for keeping the town in such good order. Visit it. You won't be disappointed. Rate Trim at www.likeplace.ie
