LONELYHEART // THE HARBOURS
The Harbours are a band from the Mission District of San Francisco. Beginning in the wake of another band's hiatus, the Harbours were formed to play & record the songs of M. Zelaya. The songs are lyrical rock music that leans towards 60's pop and rock as well as modern indie rock. They have one album out and are currently working on the second.

The Mulberry Harbour.wmv
The Mulberry Harbour was an artificial port the size of Dover, that was prefabricated in England, and then towed across the Channel to the Normandy coast, after the D-Day landing had started. This harbour is at Arromanches, and with out it the war might have turned out differently.

Ontario Travel - Historic and Beautiful Cobourg Harbour
Living in Toronto is great as the city offers so many cultural and entertainment opportunities. But every once in a while you just have to get out of the city and see what the countryside has to offer. So on August 22, 2009 I embarked on a driving tour to explore the eastern shores of Lake Ontario. My first stop was in Port Hope, a quaint town about an hour east of Toronto which features Ontarios best preserved Victorian-era streetscape. Located on the Ganaraska River, Port Hope was originally settled by United Empire Loyalists in 1793 and grew steadily throughout the 1800s. Today, the town has more than 270 heritage designated buildings and some of them open their doors during the annual Port Hope Homes Tour in October of every year. Less than 10 kilometres further east I stopped in Cobourg, another picturesque Ontario town. Also founded by United Empire Loyalists (in 1798), this town became a major local commercial centre by the 1830s and one of Ontarios most important harbours. A ferry even used to connect Cobourg with Rochester on the US side of Lake Ontario between 1905 and 1950. The most distinguished building is Victoria Hall, the heart of Cobourgs downtown heritage conservation district. Opened by the Prince of Wales in 1860, it is today the location of a concert hall and a gallery. We also spent some time in the harbor of Cobourg which has been beautifully redesigned and is now surrounded by a large number of attractive condominium developments. Adjacent to the ...

24 Hours of Neon
My first attempt at HDR tone mapping timelapse.
We start off with normal timelapse and then go into the 3 and 7 bracket tone mapped HDR timelapses.
I wanted to create a sense of colour and insanity that Las Vegas gives you. All from one view point. My balcony. With that restriction can you do it? Well I did it before in my two previous timelapses...
This was harder in a way as there was no single focal point like in the Sydney Harbour piece or the Space Needle piece.
I made a virtue of the HDR tone mapping with the change of pace in the music and also my use of bookends which I love.
There is a very detailed commentary on my website which goes into each shot in detail. It's worth a listen. http://philipbloom.net/?p=13307

700 Wall - Final Update
Here we are, the wall is done! Even though I decided to paint a little
further still - I just finished it before the snow set in. The wall was
originally planned to end at the set of windows since those are difficult to
involve and the surface of the wall became pretty bad from thereon too.
However, I decided to extend my theme in places and take the challenge to
paint until the very end of the wall. Now it is about 680m2 of wall space.
Finally, the picture is complete and I hope the story sums up. My
Stylemachine-idea was based on the life of a dedicated graffiti writer. It's
a wall for all of us who paint 10+ years and who put all their energy and
heart into it.
That's how I translated the idea:
Scene one - the laboratory - we sketch, we try, we are inspired, no matter
under which circumstances, lack of time or interruption
Scene two & three - the machine and harbour - we select sketches and
produce our ideas, try techniques, style- and colour-variations and get them
out into the world
Scene four - the difficult journey - a lot of our work gets destroyed f.e.
by the buff, toys or by the nature, so we have to keep on doing our thing no
matter what
Scene five - the city - you keep on sending your name into the world, so at
the end of the day some of your pieces reach their destination, where they
belong and where they are seen.
And for those out there who like numbers a lot: some days I went up and down
the ladder more than 500 times; fell off the ladder 4 times; counted in days
I painted more than 4 months every day at least 10 hours; I used 1489 cans;
158 different colours; 600+ caps; 3 different kind of caps, 100 liters
primer; 140 liters exterior paint; painted at temperatures from +2C° to
+38C° in sunshine, rain, storm, day and night; painted my biggest and
smallest piece so far and overall painted my name far more than 100 times on
this wall. I'm curious if anyone will guess or find out how many there
actually are. I made only one exception from solely painting MadC pieces on
this wall. Special place in my heart - special place on my wall.
And last but not least - a massive thanks to everyone who supported me
throughout the year, Molotow above all of course.

Another day at the office - underwater archaeologists exploring the ancient naval harbours of Athens
Zea Harbour Project (ZHP) - the combined land and underwater archaeological investigation of the ancient harbours of Zea and Mounichia in the Piraeus - was launched in 2002. ZHP's mission is to excavate and conduct research in the ancient naval bases, primarily the shipsheds that housed Athens' fleet of triremes, and the harbour fortifications. The fleet was the back-bone of the Athenian Democracy in the 5th and 4th century BC. Follow the ZHP on facebook www.facebook.com/zeaharbourproject or visit our website www.zeaharbourproject.dk for more information. The ZHP operates under the auspices of the Danish Institute at Athens and is directed by Dr. Bjørn Lovén. The project is supervised by the Ephorate of Underwater Antiquities (2002-2012) and the 26th Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities (2002-2009). The Carlsberg Foundation has financed the ZHP since 2004.

Six Harbour Walk 2011
Over 500 walkers enjoyed the spring sunshine on the Rotary Club of Buckie's annual Six Harbour Walk on 1 May 2011. The walk covers a dramatic 15 mile stretch of the Banffshire Coast, taking in the harbours of Portsoy, Sandend, Cullen, Portknockie, Findochty and Buckie. The route traverses cliff tops, crosses sandy beaches and coves, and runs through the coastal villages. Walkers this year were raising funds for four charities: Quarriers, who provide practical support for adults with disabiliies, children and families struggling in the face of everyday issues relating to disability, poverty or addiction and people with epilepsy and real serious needs....transforming lives! CLAN, who offer support to anyone affected by any cancer - patients, family members and carers. ShelterBox, which is an international disaster relief charity that delivers emergency shelter, warmth and dignity to people affected by disaster worlwide. Local youth Organisations & Charities. Support is being provided to many of the active groups who seek to improve the health and well being of residents of our community (Aplications to Joe Herd, JSB Supplies, Buckie, AB56 1UN). Thank you to the magnificent walkers who gave up their day to support these most worthwhile charities! Music: www.lindsayandthestorm.co.uk Contact BuckieRotary@msn.com

Robotic fish to monitor pollution in harbours
videos-youtube66.blogspot.com pls click this link 4 more The cost of water pollution in the UK runs into millions of pounds each year, and it can cause untold damage to the environment. But now scientists have come up with an unusual solution to the problem and it comes in the shape of a robotic fish. Dr Luke Speller from the Shoal Consortium explains how it works.
