She's Your Lover Now
"She's Your Lover Now" is a song written by singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, and recorded for his 1966 album, Blonde on Blonde, but ultimately never used. It is a "dramatized scene for three players, but only one speaker - the singer - who's attempting to unravel a tangle of complicated emotions."
Recording
The third session for Blonde on Blonde, which took place on January 21, 1966, in Studio A of Columbia Recording Studios in New York City, focused entirely on laying down a complete take of "She's Your Lover Now". 19 takes were recorded between 2:30 PM and 2:30 AM, but several were false starts. The most complete take with the full band was take 19, which was subsequently released on The Bootleg Series Volumes 1-3 (Rare & Unreleased) 1961-1991. After the 21st, the song was dropped from recording and never returned to.
On the recording sheet, each take is titled "Just a Little Glass of Water", which was the song's working name.
Musical style
"She's Your Lover Now" is in the key of C♯, and follows a chord procession similar to that of "Like a Rolling Stone" (C-Dm-Em-F-G).

The The are an English musical and multimedia group that have been active in various forms since 1979, with singer/songwriter Matt Johnson being the only constant band member.
History
The early years (1977–1981)
In November 1977, Matt Johnson placed an advertisement in the NME, asking for "Bass/lead guitarist into The Velvet Underground/Syd Barrett". Johnson later placed a second advertisement in the NME, stating his new influences as "The Residents/Throbbing Gristle".
While trying to get his band going, in 1978 Johnson had recorded a demo solo album (See Without Being Seen) which he continued to sell at various underground gigs on cassettes. In 1979, working with Colin Lloyd-Tucker (a friend and colleague at De Wolfe Music, the Soho music publisher/recording studio) Johnson recorded his first album proper, Spirits. This album remains unreleased, although the album track "What Stanley Saw" was later licensed to Cherry Red Records for their Perspectives & Distortion compilation album, which also featured Virgin Prunes, Lemon Kittens, Thomas Leer, Kevin Coyne and Mark Perry.

The Band
The Band was a Canadian-American roots rock group, originally consisting of Rick Danko (bass guitar, double bass, fiddle, trombone, vocals), Levon Helm (drums, mandolin, vocals), Garth Hudson (keyboards, saxophones, trumpet), Richard Manuel (piano, baritone, drums, vocals) and Robbie Robertson (guitar, percussion, vocals). The members of the Band first came together as they joined rockabilly singer Ronnie Hawkins's backing group, the Hawks, one by one between 1958 and 1963.
In 1964, they separated from Hawkins, after which they toured and released a few singles as Levon and the Hawks and the Canadian Squires. The next year, Bob Dylan hired them for his U.S. tour in 1965 and world tour in 1966. Following the 1966 tour, the group moved with Dylan to Saugerties, New York, where they made the informal 1967 recordings that became The Basement Tapes, which forged the basis for their 1968 debut album, Music from Big Pink. Because they were always "the band" to various frontmen, Helm said the name "The Band" worked well when the group came into its own. The group began performing as the Band in 1968 and went on to release ten studio albums. Dylan continued to collaborate with the Band over the course of their career, including a joint 1974 tour.

27 is an American rock band from Cambridge, Massachusetts. 27 was formed by Maria Christopher, formerly of Dirt Merchants, and Ayal Naor in 1997. 27 is commonly categorized as a rock or indie rock band, but the genres lo-fi and emo have occasionally been used to describe them.
27 has toured extensively throughout Europe, North America, and Japan. In the Czech Republic, 27 opened for Robert Plant.
27 shares a relatively close relationship with the band Isis. Bryant Clifford Meyer, of Isis, co-wrote the 27 song "1001 Gods," Aaron Turner, of Isis, contributed guitars and vocals to the song "April," and Jeff Caxide, of Isis, contributed to the song "Try." Maria Christopher and Ayal Naor, of 27, contributed to the songs "Weight," "Carry," and "The Beginning and the End" which appeared on the Isis album Oceanic. Of these, the song "Weight" was featured on the television show Friday Night Lights in 2007. 27 also released an album on Hydra Head Records, which is owned by Aaron Turner of Isis.

At the age of 21, I didn’t know the difference between film and video (on which this was shot). Because I was so disappointed with the video for ‘This Is The Day’, in future I insisted I would only shoot music videos on film. One of the next videos I made was with Tim Pope in NYC, shot on 35mm and probably my all-time favourite: ‘Out Of The Blue (into the fire)’. Videos like that are the ones that truly reflected how I felt and what my music was trying to express.
But, as the years have advanced, my feelings towards the video for ‘This Is The Day’ have softened somewhat and I can see the funny side of it – particularly my haircut and the way I’m self-consciously skulking around! More poignantly, all my immediate family are in it; only two of us are now left, so for that purpose alone it’s worth re-viewing."

The new music video for ‘Linoleum Smooth To The Stockinged Foot’ was made in conjunction with long-time collaborators: directed by Tim Pope with editing and VFX by Vicki Bennett (People Like Us) and Peter Knight, with Anya Krasnikova as Director of Photography.
The lyrics for this song were written from Matt Johnson’s hospital bed under the influence of morphine, whilst recovering from a life-saving operation. As fate would have it, Johnson’s weeks in hospital had nothing to do with Covid, but occurred at precisely the time Covid reached crisis proportions, making for an even more surreal ordeal.
The discordant interplay between horns and fiddle is redolent of Johnson’s hallucinogenic, surreal experience, which he tried to emulate by asking the musicians to improvise over the track, without hearing the other’s contribution, as he manipulated the sounds in real time.
‘Linoleum Smooth To The Stockinged Foot’ is unique in that it does not feature any of the core band members apart from Johnson on vocals, guitar and bass, plus guest musicians Sonya Cullingford on fiddle, Terry Edwards on horns, Gillian Glover providing backing vocals, and hand claps from percussionist Danny Cummings. Co-produced by Matt Johnson and Warne Livesey.

The new video for 'Cognitive Dissident' was made in conjunction with long-time collaborators: directed by Tim Pope with editing, VFX and projections by Vicki Bennett (People Like Us) and Peter Knight. ‘Cognitive Dissident’ (written by Matt Johnson and Barrie Cadogan) is the first single from Ensoulment, the first studio album from THE THE in a quarter century.
THE THE and Tim Pope have a long, shared history working on a variety of videos and projects, including The Comeback Special film of the concert at Royal Albert Hall in 2018, the legendary Infected The Movie in 1987 – the first ever long-form video album release – the Versus The World film of the concert at Royal Albert Hall in 1999, and From Dusk ‘Til Dawn in 1993, as well as many music videos over the years including ‘Pillar Box Red’, ‘The Beat(en) Generation’, ‘Kingdom of Rain’, ‘Gravitate To Me’ etc.
Vicki Bennett (People Like Us), acclaimed video collage artist, and Peter Knight (photographer) have also long been associated with THE THE having worked on the videos for ‘We Can’t Stop What’s Coming’ and the ‘Stolen Moments’ GlobalEyes remix by DJ Food as well as creating the kaleidoscopic, cinematic backdrop for The Comeback Special world tour.

'This is the Day' is a song written by Matt Johnson and originally released as a single by his band, THE THE, on 2nd September 1983. A version of the song was included on THE THE's debut album, Soul Mining, released in October 1983. Below are a few words from Matt on the music video for this song, which was withdrawn from circulation until May 2023:
"For many years I insisted this video be withdrawn and banned from circulation as I was so unhappy with it – the end result didn’t turn out at all like the director, Tony Dow, said it would. (Ironically, Tony, a lovely man, went on to make his name as the director of the British comedy sitcom Only Fools And Horses!). At the age of 21, I didn’t know the difference between film and video (on which this was shot). Because I was so disappointed with the video for ‘This Is The Day’, in future I insisted I would only shoot music videos on film. One of the next videos I made was with Tim Pope in NYC, shot on 35mm and probably my all-time favourite: ‘Out Of The Blue (into the fire)’. Videos like that are the ones that truly reflected how I felt and what my music was trying to express.
But, as the years have advanced, my feelings towards the video for ‘This Is The Day’ have softened somewhat and I can see the funny side of it – particularly my haircut and the way I’m self-consciously skulking around! More poignantly, all my immediate family are in it; only two of us are now left, so for that purpose alone it’s worth re-viewing."

The new music video for ‘Linoleum Smooth To The Stockinged Foot’ was made in conjunction with long-time collaborators: directed by Tim Pope with editing and VFX by Vicki Bennett (People Like Us) and Peter Knight, with Anya Krasnikova as Director of Photography.
The lyrics for this song were written from Matt Johnson’s hospital bed under the influence of morphine, whilst recovering from a life-saving operation. As fate would have it, Johnson’s weeks in hospital had nothing to do with Covid, but occurred at precisely the time Covid reached crisis proportions, making for an even more surreal ordeal.
The discordant interplay between horns and fiddle is redolent of Johnson’s hallucinogenic, surreal experience, which he tried to emulate by asking the musicians to improvise over the track, without hearing the other’s contribution, as he manipulated the sounds in real time.
‘Linoleum Smooth To The Stockinged Foot’ is unique in that it does not feature any of the core band members apart from Johnson on vocals, guitar and bass, plus guest musicians Sonya Cullingford on fiddle, Terry Edwards on horns, Gillian Glover providing backing vocals, and hand claps from percussionist Danny Cummings. Co-produced by Matt Johnson and Warne Livesey.

The new video for 'Cognitive Dissident' was made in conjunction with long-time collaborators: directed by Tim Pope with editing, VFX and projections by Vicki Bennett (People Like Us) and Peter Knight. ‘Cognitive Dissident’ (written by Matt Johnson and Barrie Cadogan) is the first single from Ensoulment, the first studio album from THE THE in a quarter century.
THE THE and Tim Pope have a long, shared history working on a variety of videos and projects, including The Comeback Special film of the concert at Royal Albert Hall in 2018, the legendary Infected The Movie in 1987 – the first ever long-form video album release – the Versus The World film of the concert at Royal Albert Hall in 1999, and From Dusk ‘Til Dawn in 1993, as well as many music videos over the years including ‘Pillar Box Red’, ‘The Beat(en) Generation’, ‘Kingdom of Rain’, ‘Gravitate To Me’ etc.
Vicki Bennett (People Like Us), acclaimed video collage artist, and Peter Knight (photographer) have also long been associated with THE THE having worked on the videos for ‘We Can’t Stop What’s Coming’ and the ‘Stolen Moments’ GlobalEyes remix by DJ Food as well as creating the kaleidoscopic, cinematic backdrop for The Comeback Special world tour.

"She's Your Lover Now" is a song written by singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, and recorded for his 1966 album, Blonde on Blonde, but ultimately never used. It is a "dramatized scene for three players, but only one speaker - the singer - who's attempting to unravel a tangle of complicated emotions."
Recording
The third session for Blonde on Blonde, which took place on January 21, 1966, in Studio A of Columbia Recording Studios in New York City, focused entirely on laying down a complete take of "She's Your Lover Now". 19 takes were recorded between 2:30 PM and 2:30 AM, but several were false starts. The most complete take with the full band was take 19, which was subsequently released on The Bootleg Series Volumes 1-3 (Rare & Unreleased) 1961-1991. After the 21st, the song was dropped from recording and never returned to.
On the recording sheet, each take is titled "Just a Little Glass of Water", which was the song's working name.
Musical style
"She's Your Lover Now" is in the key of C♯, and follows a chord procession similar to that of "Like a Rolling Stone" (C-Dm-Em-F-G).
