Tuscany Italy-The Charmed Land
Photos by Howie DiBlasi..Rolling hills with tiny medieval towns silhouetted in the sunset and ramrod straight cypress trees surrounding perfectly sited villas. These are the classical pictures of Tuscany and do more than words ever can, to draw you to an area that is the true essence of Italy. This remarkable region has an unmistakable magic that is almost impossible to define and which is unequalled by any other part of Italy.

Dream Theater - The Count of Tuscany
Review of the song according to gearsofrock.com: The final track continues the silver lined journey that the second half of the album takes on. Petrucci opens with a beautiful acoustic intro with a soothing lead layered on top. Several bars before the full band enters, the guitar frolics with clean natural harmonics. Soon, Rudess keyboards and Petrucci's leads [2:18] erupt off of each other in a magical yet mysterious manner. At 3:20 the song begins the pounding and progressive heaviness that DT tends to display before the main verses enter. There is a fairly complex rhythm pattern that LaBrie lays his voice over. The scary guy voice returns with the pre-chorus lyric "let me introduce..." Honestly, I have not been a fan of this style throughout the record. The one place where the scary voice works well is during the choruses of this track, more specifically the beginning that contains the accented "I." Additionally, the chorus contains one of the catchiest vocal melodies on Black Clouds. There is an interesting Nintendo-type sound [7:07] produced by the guitar which you would expect to hear on a DragonForce song; it sounds like Mario is about to warp through a pipe on Level 1-2. As always, the second and third verses loosely follow the format of verse one, another DT trademark, before the pre-chorus scary guy bridge and chorus. A powerful display of rhythm [9:23] takes form prior to the main instrumental section. Petrucci then delivers a melodic solo about a minute later ...

Fascination Tuscany
Florence is the capital of Tuscany and at the end of the 14th Century was ruled by a few leading families who not only financed churches but also competed in building magnificent palaces. Of these, the Medici family proved to be the most powerful. It is a city of art and joie de vivre and past home of important artists and sculptors such as Donatello, Michelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci, plus the writers Dante and Boccaccio, not to mention the scientist, Galileo Galilei. Lucca, one of Tuscany's most important historical towns, rises from the lower reaches of the Serchio river, on a former swamp. The precarious imperfection of the Leaning Tower of Pisa is in stark contrast to the grandiose palaces and religious buildings of the Medici family and the natural contours of the hills. Olive groves and vineyards line the gentle hilly landscape around the picturesque, Vinci. The birthplace of Leonardo is a simple farmhouse above the square in which only a modest bust portrays this universal genius. Certaldo is a Middle Age village built of red brick and was the birthplace of the author, Giovanni Boccaccio. The heart of Tuscany lies around the provincial capital of Siena, a Gothic city of great artistry. Its squares and streets, most of the residential quarter and noble palaces, the cathedral and the church, date back to the 13th and 14th centuries. History and culture combined with the beauty of nature...Tuscany has it all!

Under The Tuscan Sun
UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN follows San Francisco writer Frances Mayes (Diane Lane) to Italy as a good friend offers her a special gift -- 10 days in Tuscany. Once there, she is captivated by its beauty and warmth, and impulsively buys an aging, but very charming, villa. Fully embracing new friends and local color, she finds herself immersed in a life-changing adventure filled with enough unexpected surprises, laughter, friendship, and romance to restore her new home -- and her belief in second chances.

Trailer: Under the tuscan sun
After Frances's seemingly happy San Francisco marriage ends abruptly, she goes into a funk. Urged by her friends to move on, she joins a bus tour of Tuscany where, on the spur of the moment, she buys a crumbling villa. She assembles a crew of oddballs and immigrants to repair the house; over the next year, as they work, she welcomes one of her New York friends who's pregnant and at loose ends, and she seeks love, first (tenuously) with her married real estate agent, then with a charming stranger. Although life gets in the way of love, Frances's wishes come true in unexpected ways, and there's always the Tuscan sun.

Tuscany
Visions of Tuscany is Produced and Presented by Alessandro Sorbello www.AlessandroSorbello.com Tuscany (Italian Toscana) is one of the twenty regions of Italy. It has an area of 22990 km² and a population of about 3.6 million inhabitants. The regional capital is Florence. Tuscany is known for its landscapes and its artistic legacy. Six Tuscan localities have been made UNESCO protected sites: the historical center of Florence (1982), the historical center of Siena (1995), the square of the Cathedral of Pisa (1987), the historical center of San Gimignano (1990), the historical center of Pienza (1996) and the Val d'Orcia (2004). Geography - Tuscany is a region of Central Italy, bordering Emilia-Romagna to the north, Liguria to the north-west, Tyrrhenian Sea to the west, Umbria and Marche to the east, Lazio to the south-east. The territory is two thirds hilly and one fourth mountainous. The remainder is constituted of the plains that form the valley of the Arno River. Tuscany is divided into ten provinces: Arezzo, Florence (Firenze), Grosseto, Livorno, Lucca, Massa-Carrara, Pisa, Pistoia, Prato, Siena History - History of Tuscany oncello. An artistic movement of the 19th century, called Macchiaioli, chose this village, because of its beauty, as an inspirational source for their work. Apennine and Villanovan cultures. Sting - Roxanne (Live Tuscany, Sept. 11, 2001)
Brilliant reinvention of the classic Police song. From a live concert in Tuscany on the night of 9/11 - which obviously affects Sting's and the other musicians' mood, making the first half of the concert very moving, but also very solemn. Numerous times, Sting hinted to the audience to hold back their applause. However, Roxanne marked a clear change in outlook during the performance, as Sting acknowledges at the end - turning this into a truly magical rendition of the song =o)

Listen to the heart of Tuscany
One of my favorite places on earth - the heart of the Tuscany in Italy, from a macro perspective. No music, just the sounds of little life in a fantastic atmosphere.
A big "Thank you" goes to my friend and fellow filmmaker Nino Leitner, who encouraged me to upload the film as is without music.
Shot over the course of 14 days, searching for those moments where everything aligns. Field recordings with a ZOOM H2, other ressources included freesound.org.
At a later stage, I will most probably share an alternate version with specifically composed music as well.
Let me know what you think!

The Count Of Tuscany Ending (watch in HQ)
The ending to "The Count Of Tuscany". To me it's one of the most beautiful parts i have ever heard, I hope people share this opinion with me. Lyrics: {Petrucci} Could this be the end? Is this the way i die? Sitting here alone No one by my side I don't understand I don't feel that i deserve this What did I do wrong? I just don't understand Give me one more chance Let me please explain It's all been circumstance I'll tell you once again You took me for a ride Promising a vast adventure Next thing that i know I'm frightened for my life. {The Count} Now wait a minute man That's not how it is You must be confused! That isn't who I am. Please don't be afraid I would never try to hurt you This is how we live Strange although it seems Please try to forgive The chapel and the saint The soldiers and the wine The fables and the tales All handed down through time Of course you're free go Go and tell the world my story Tell about my brother Tell them about me The Count Of Tuscany (whoa) With special thanks to Dream Theater® The pictures are from a dutch art designer ("stevetheater") who has good contacts with DT and RR, he created them himself excluding the band fotos and the Wither pic. If you want them pm me your e-mail and a polite message :) @@@@@@@@@@@ Props to stevetheater! Check his account btw, some nice vids...

LUCCA Tuscany, Italy
From almost any direction, the town of Lucca, in Italy's Tuscany, satisfies the eye with a variety of picturesque motifs and striking impressions, such as its wonderful works of art and splendid architecture, including its famous and imposing city wall. During the Middle Ages, this atmospheric town owed both its prosperity and fame to the manufacture of silk and a variety of other sought after clothing materials. Full of character and charm, the diverse architecture and artistic decoration of many of its houses are reminders of a wealthy and glorious past. For several centuries, the beautiful Piazza del'Anfiteatro has been the town's market place. Originally a Roman Amphitheatre, during the Middle Ages, its foundation walls formed part of the dwellings of the bourgeoisie. Lucca's city wall is 12 metres high and the most famous in Tuscany. For its four-kilometre length, approximately 6 million bricks were used. Lucca is a fascinating treasure trove of the life and culture of Tuscany.
