Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, Fukuoka ● 太宰府天満宮
►
Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is a shinto shrine, located just outside
Fukuoka. (15-20 minutes by Omuta
Line from Fukuoka
Tenjin Station). Todays version of the shrine dates back to 1591, although the first - and smaller version of it - was built in year
905.
It has been classified "
Important Cultural Property" by the
Agency of cultural affairs of
Japan.
The shrine area is really beautiful, with several ponds, ume- and sakura-trees, blooming from February until late april. - In my opinion, its the best shrine/temple in Fukuoka, and a "must see" when visiting
Kyushu.
