Red Cross hotel opened in Nairobi
www.ntv.co.ke President Mwai Kibaki has rallied both local and foreign investors to venture into the hospitality sector to help bridge the gap resident in the hotel industry. The President was speaking at the opening ceremony of the multi-billion shilling Boma Hotel in Nairobi's South C estate, and he lauded the Kenya Red Cross Society for the initiative. Kibaki urged Non-Profit Organizations to devise means of becoming financially independent rather than relying wholly on donor funds. The President at the same time hit out at MPs who were questioning the source of funding for the Hotel saying the society had every right to venture into the hospitality industry.

What one change would most benefit the hospitality industry?
www.bighospitality.co.uk At the first ever British Hospitality Association (BHA) Summit earlier this month there was widespread discussion on what the industry and the Government should be doing to boost the hospitality sector - but what do the experts think? Mani Nasry an exceptionally talented filmmaker, actor and artist with a sophisticated breadth of education, skills, experience, and professional accomplishments. He trained as an actor and director in New York with Salem Ludwig and with Donna DeMatteo for playwriting. For Mani, the decision to work in the film industry guided his academic decisions from an early age. He attended a Toronto high school renowned for excellence in the arts, and was accepted into one of the highly competitive film program at Ryerson university. It is notable that he went to Ryerson with an already well-established career in theatre, film, television and commercial work, and a range of multi-faceted achievements including producing, cinematography, casting, writing, directing, acting, and editing. On his own he added stints in New York and Los Angeles with leading acting teachers, as well as learning the grace and style of many forms of dance and athletics. With courses perceptively, he has also recognized the importance of acquiring an understanding of the business side of the industry, and the varied aspects of technology and production. There are some people clearly born to follow the path they have chosen from the start. Mani Nasry has the passion to succeed, the curiosity and ingenuity required to lead and collaborate in an industry known for its impact and appeal, and the strength of character and work ethic to immerse himself in finding and telling an unforgettable story.

¡El Tonto!, directed by Lake Bell (feat. Kyle Mooney)
A socially challenged vacationer in Mexico City strikes up an unlikely friendship with one of the country's best-known luchadores.
Why it was chosen: "This story had a graphic quality that drew me in. The lack of dialogue gave it the feeling of a silent film driven more by cinematic ideas than narrative exposition. It was also on the shorter side, which was a nice attribute, allowing the story to be more visually told." -- Roman Coppola
Winning Screenwriter: Ben Sayeg
Ben Sayeg is a Brooklyn-based freelance filmmaker. Having studied film at University of Westminster in London, he has been involved with Upright Citizens Brigade Theater's web comedies and is documenting Knitta, the group of artists who began the "knit graffiti" movement, where public architecture is wrapped with knitted or crocheted material as an art form.
Director: Lake Bell
Actress, writer, and director Lake Bell is currently writing, producing, directing and starring in In A World..., a comedy about a vocal coach pitted against her father, the patriarch of the voice over industry. Her short film Worst Enemy premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, and Bell was seen in Black Rock, which premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. Past film credits include No Strings Attached, It's Complicated, and What Happens in Vegas. Bell recently wrapped production, acting and directing the fourth season of Adult Swim series Children's Hospital and starred in season 2 of HBO's How to Make It in America.
Featuring: Kyle Mooney
As a member of the comedy troupe Good Neighbor, Kyle Mooney has appeared in sidesplitting YouTube videos that have garnered over 30 million views. It was his halting, unnerved interview style and rapid-fire wit caught the attention of director Lake Bell. Mooney and his comedy troupe are currently developing a pilot with Gary Sanchez Productions for Comedy Central.
Featuring: El Solar
El Solar is one of Mexico's most beloved luchadores. The masked wrester is a living legend of the ring and has performed for over 30 years in Mexico and abroad.
About Four Stories
Intel and W Hotels created Four Stories to identify and support rising visionaries in filmmaking, and provide them with a platform to share their talent with audiences around the world.
Four winning scripts, inspired by iconic W Hotels destinations and the mobility of the Intel-inspired Ultrabook™, were chosen from nearly 1000 submissions from aspiring filmmakers worldwide. They were selected by a panel of entertainment industry insiders and filmmakers, and developed into short films.
Roman Coppola and his production company, The Directors Bureau, matched the four scripts with some of today's most talented young directors and actors to bring each winner's vision to life.
The resulting four films, plus an original short by Coppola himself, were shot at some of W Hotels' most exotic and cutting-edge locations — from the Maldives and Hollywood to Doha, Washington D.C. and Mexico City — and feature the Ultrabook as a central character.
Four Stories is part of The Ultrabook Experience: a series of collaborations between Intel and innovative companies worldwide, enabled by the Ultrabook — a new category of computing devices powered by Intel.

Industrial spill in Hungary
On the 4th of October 2010, a tailing reservoir collapsed in the Ajkai Timföldgyár alumina plant in Ajka, western Hungary. About a million cubic metres of liquid waste drained through the broken northwestern corner of the dam. The mud formed a 1–2 m wave that covered about 40 square kilometres of land. The village Kolontár and the town of Devecser were flooded, killing 8 and leaving several people missing, while dozens of residents were injured and needed to be hospitalized for chemical burns. The ruptured and weakened wall of the reservoir is momentarily in danger of collapsing entirely, which could release an additional 500,000 cubic metres of sludge. Despite counter measures of the Hungarian authorities, the spill reached the Danube river on 7 October 2010.
The movie shows processed satellite images of the extent of the sludge spill.

Tune Hotels Interview - Future of the Budget Hotel Chain - HD Interview
This exclusive HD video with the CEO of Tune Hotels Group, Mr. Mark Lankester, was filmed in the Lobby Lounge of The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur on 29 November 2012. In the HD video Steven Howard of ASIA Travel Tips discusses with Mark the Tune Hotel Group's expansion plans, and discovers how many hotels it hopes to have open by 2015. This is explored further as we discuss the geographic areas of growth in terms of which countries Tune Hotels is targeting for its ambitious expansion plans. We also look at what challenges some of the major hubs in Asia Pacific, such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Seoul and Tokyo pose as potential areas of growth, and how soon will it be before we see a Tune Hotel in Australia. Tune Hotels already has quite a few hotels open in the UK and is about to open a very exciting new property in Edinburgh. We discuss these hotels, learn what the new hotel in Scotland has to do with Murrayfield, and what type of challenge the immense competition from very established budget hotel companies pose to the Malaysian-based Tune Hotels Group. Guest demographics are discussed, and viewers will learn what percentages of guests are male and female, their average age, where they are mainly coming from and whether they are travelling on business or leisure. Green credentials are also looked at. With one major budget hotel chain in the UK starting to use Solar Power, we ask what Tune Hotels is doing to lessen its carbon footprint and become more environmentally friendly ...
