The Sopranos

The Sopranos is an American crime drama television series created by David Chase. Revolving around the fictional character and family of New Jersey-based Italian American mobster Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini), the show portrays the difficulties he faces as he tries to master the conflicting requirements of his home life and his criminal organization. These are often highlighted during his therapy sessions with psychiatrist Jennifer Melfi (Lorraine Bracco). The series features Tony's family members, mafia colleagues, and rivals in prominent roles and story arcs, most notably his wife Carmela (Edie Falco) and protégé Christopher Moltisanti (Michael Imperioli).

After the pilot was ordered in 1997, the show premiered on the premium cable network HBO in the United States on January 10, 1999, and ended its original run of six seasons and 86 episodes on June 10, 2007. The series then went through syndication and has been broadcast on A&E in the United States and internationally.The Sopranos was produced by HBO, Chase Films, and Brad Grey Television. It was primarily filmed at Silvercup Studios, New York City, and on location in New Jersey. The executive producers throughout the show's run were David Chase, Brad Grey, Robin Green, Mitchell Burgess, Ilene S. Landress, Terence Winter, and Matthew Weiner.

The Sopranos (season 1)

The first season of The Sopranos aired on HBO from January 10 to April 4, 1999. The first season was released on DVD in region 1 on December 12, 2000, and on Blu-ray on November 24, 2009.

The season introduces DiMeo Crime Family Capo Tony Soprano and his family, as well as his troubled relationship with his mother Livia. Also troubled is his relationship with his Uncle Junior, who becomes locked in a power struggle with Tony after the death of the Crime Family Boss, Jackie Aprile. Tony also begins therapy sessions with Dr. Melfi after his panic attacks become more frequent. Meanwhile, Tony's daughter Meadow becomes aware of her father's true profession while preparing to get into college, and Tony's nephew Christopher attempts to write a screenplay about his crime life and anxiously awaits becoming a made man. Due to Junior's plotting of an assassination, Tony also gets embroiled in a plot again childhood friend Artie Bucco, a charming but obsequious restaurateur.

The Sopranos (pinball)

The Sopranos is a Stern pinball machine released in February 2005. It is based on the television series of the same name.

The game features the talking fish from the show, a safe that can be opened, Bada Bing! dancers and the boat (called Stugots) from the show that locks balls for a mini-multiball. The main characters that died in the series (up to the release date) can be collected as bonus multipliers. If, after playing, the player activates the flippers in an LLRLLRLLRLLRLLR pattern, the words "Secret Message" and the number 742.

Gameplay

The main goal is to work your way up from associate to underboss, which is honorated by a mini-Wizard Mode, and finally boss, which requires the fulfillment of 8 other tasks and results in the final Wizard Mode:

Sentimental Education

Sentimental Education (French: L'Éducation sentimentale, 1869) is a novel by Gustave Flaubert, that is considered one of the most influential novels of the 19th century, being praised by contemporaries George Sand,Émile Zola, but criticised by Henry James. The story focuses on the romantic life of a young man at the time of the French Revolution of 1848.

Plot introduction

The novel describes the life of a young man (Frédéric Moreau) living through the revolution of 1848 and the founding of the Second French Empire, and his love for an older woman (based on the wife of the music publisher Maurice Schlesinger, who is portrayed in the book as Jacques Arnoux). Flaubert based many of the protagonist's experiences (including the romantic passion) on his own life. He wrote of the work in 1864:

The novel's tone is by turns ironic and pessimistic; it occasionally lampoons French society. The main character, Frédéric, often gives himself to romantic flights of fancy.

Sentimental Education (Sneaky Feelings album)

Sentimental Education is an album by the New Zealand group, Sneaky Feelings. First released as an LP in 1986, it was re-released with extra tracks as a CD the following year. Several of these extra tracks had previously been released as singles, including the band's biggest single, "'Husband House".

Notes

The version of "Backroom" released on this album is a completely different recording to that which had earlier been on the Dunedin Double EP. The version of "Amnesia" is also a different version to the original release of the song (as the B-side of the "Be My Friend" single).

Sentimental Education (film)

Sentimental Education (French: L'Éducation sentimentale) is a 1962 French drama film directed by Alexandre Astruc. It is also known as Lessons in Love. The story focuses on a student who has an affair with a married middle-class woman whose husband cheats on her with a model. The film is loosely based on the novel Sentimental Education by Gustave Flaubert. The screenplay was written by Roger Nimier with dialogue by Roland Laudenbach and Alain Astruc.
