It is the third Aliens title that Sega has produced: the first was Aliens vs. Predator in 2010, and the second was Aliens Infestation in 2011. Events will take place after the death of Ellen Ripley in Alien3, with the USCMC sending a new detachment of marines to investigate the incident on LV-426, leading them to the ruined colony of Hadley's Hope, the abandoned USS Sulaco and the Derelict Ship on the planet's surface. Another location rumoured as appearing in the game, at least in early drafts, is Fiorina 161, although it remains to be seen if this has actually been included in the final release. Aliens: Colonial Marines is a sci-fi/horror first-person shooter which puts the player in the role of a United States Colonial Marine as seen in the film Aliens.
