Video taken while travelling through the Judean Desert on 21st May 2014 from the Dead Sea to Jerusalem. A large number of caves can be seen in this area. It is absolutely barren and devoid of water or vegetation. Occasionally one can see Bedouin Shepherds with their camels camping around. This area gets very scanty rainfall. Climate ranges from desert type to Mediterranean type. This is the same desert where Jesus fasted for 40 days without food or water and after the 40 days were over and He experienced hunger, He was tempted by Satan. The Mountain of Temptation has a monastery which marks the place from where Satan asked Jesus to jump. All three times that Satan tempted Jesus, He quoted from the scriptures. Matthew 4-4 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.' Matthew 4:7 - 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.' Matthew 4: 10 - When he asked Jesus to worship him. Then he said: "Away from me, Satan! For it is written: 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.' It was here in this desert that Jesus taught the devil... with the help of scripture that it is only God and His Word that mattered to Him. So finally the devil left him. The 40 days in this very Judean Desert was a period of test and trial and it did not last forever. It was short because Jesus completely trusted his father.... The Almighty God. And the same applies to us at all times. Our time of trial and test can carry on endlessly if we just trust and rely on ourselves. But if we just leave everything in God's hands... the testing time just goes by.
