Hiking Through the White Mountains - 5 Days on the Presidential Range
Documentary of 5 Days and 4 nights hiking through New Hampshire's White Mountains during the summer of 2011. We started on the Davis Path around Mt. Crawford and worked our way towards Mt. Washington for the finale. Complete with a lazy trip down on the Cog Railroad to finish things up.

"""Ultimate Hiking Gear & Skills Clinic"" A backpacking trip consists of two distinct activities: hiking and camping. In this informative clinic, renowned long-distance backpacker Andrew Skurka will discuss the gear, supplies and skills necessary to make hiking fun, not an arduous chore. Skurka was named ""Adventurer of the Year"" by Outside and was described as ""a Superman among trekkers,"" by National Geographic; he is the author of The Ultimate Hiker's Gear Guide. You will learn: (1) How to predict the environmental and route conditions you will encounter on a trip; (2) the best uses and limitations of lightweight equipment; (3) skills that will help keep you safe and comfortable with a minimum of possessions; and, (4) exactly what Skurka takes for a summer backpacking trip in the Sierra Nevada, and why."

"Katadyn Hiker: Water Fresh" by Nutnfancy
At around 14 ounces, the Katadyn Hiker and Hiker Pro water filters are not light. But they are the best and most capable backcountry filters I have found and used. My experience with them dates back to the early 1990s (discussed) when they were sold under the PUR brand. These Katadyn versions are still well made and have the same proven capabilities. The video discusses and clearly show these in depth through many TNP backpacking adventures. The Hiker Pro offers a wrap around filter pre-screen and QD attachments. The latter I don't need but the filter screen is recommended as is wise selected of your source water. In good conditions these Hikers are rated at 200 gallons filtering capacity. They have seemed to provide that in my experience. Other competitive options are available and capable such as the MSR Mini Waterworks or Sweet Water, Katadyn Mini, Katadyn Pocket, Katadyn Vario, and many other low cost, "hokey" alternatives. Hokey to me means more work, less production, inability to reach water sources, hard pumping or requiring squeezing/sucking through a straw, and the worst, frequent clogging. The Hiker is none of those things and its design defines durability and ease of use. If you can pack it in you'll be glad you brought it. It's the world's best selling hiking filter for good reason.///////////////////////Nutnfancy Likability Scale: 9 out of 10 (only penalty is WEIGHT)

Hiking Backpacking Gear Whats in our packs
Odor Proof (bear) Bags - astore.amazon.com GSI Gear - astore.amazon.com ENO Hammocks - astore.amazon.com Preparing for any hiking or backpacking trip can sometimes be overwhelming. Attempting to go ultra light hiking can be even worse. We've learned thru several hikes on the AT, Appalachian Trail, and various hiking trails in Florida that less is better. There is a tendency for those new to hiking and backpacking to over pack. That's why it's not uncommon to come across gear abandoned on the trail by hikers that realized carrying the extra weight wasn't worth it. In this video we show how our pack out has evolved thru our own experiences by showing and going through what's in our packs. Some of the gear we take includes GSI cook sets, ENO hammocks and tarps, home made under quiltsMSR Pocket Rocket, alcohol stoves, and bear bags or odor proof bags for the bear hang. www.youtube.com

The Hike
Kate (Zara Phythian) is a soldier back from a tour in Afghanistan on compassionate leave after seeing her soldier boyfriend die in combat. Back among her best friends, they take the chance to get away and go on a camping trip in a picturesque and remote area of the British countryside. As the girls leave for their expedition, Kate's friend, Torri (Barbara Nedeljacova) breaks up with her aggressive boyfriend Dean (Tamer Hassan), leaving Kate to defend her from his violence. Leaving all that behind, the girls make their way into the woods in search of the perfect place to camp and enjoy their time together. As they near Sunset Point they come across a strange and evasive group of Eastern Europeans that seem to be living off the land. It's a awkward situation and the Kate and her group quickly move on. As the girls reach Sunset Point they encounter three rock climbers, lead by Ethan (Ben Loyd Holmes), and much to her annoyance Kate's friends quickly become friendly with the likely lads. As the two groups go their separate ways, Kate is relieved to have the girls to herself, but as darkness falls and Charlie (Jemma Bolt) goes missing they begin to feel vulnerable and will be forced to rely on each other and their newly formed friendships with the climbers to find Charlie and get them out of the woods to safety. - Copyright The Hike Film Ltd © 2011. Hiking the Best Part of the Appalachian Trail
Thru-hiker Dusty aka Particle hand-picked the yummiest part of the Appalachian Trail for this tenderfoot to hike for three days and guided us. We hiked in Shenandoah National Park, in Virginia, and we agree this was a perfect spot for a casual hiker to taste almost everything the Trail has to offer, minus the despair. First day, hiked 8 miles from Big Meadows Campground to Skyland, then made friends and got a lift back to the campground. Next day, we drove to and parked at Skyland, and hiked 6 miles to the Byrd's Nest 3 shelter for a backwoods overnight. Next day we hiked 4 miles to the rest area at Thornton's Gap and then caught a ride back to the car at Skyland. Don't miss the famous and delicious blackberry milkshakes in Shenandoah. And don't forget to purchase a camping pass. Video by Lauren Traub Teton exclusive for Twifties.TV. I honestly wasn't planning to hike the mountain trail to the top, but once we got going on the trails it wasn't that bad to keep going, so we made it to the top walking destination, anything beyond the point we got to was for snow shoes. I estimate we walked anywhere from 4 to 6 miles that...

This was filmed between 4th and 11th April 2011. I had the pleasure of visiting El Teide.
Spain´s highest mountain @(3718m) is one of the best places in the world to photograph the stars and is also the location of Teide Observatories, considered to be one of the world´s best observatories.
The goal was to capture the beautiful Milky Way galaxy along with one of the most amazing mountains I know El Teide. I have to say this was one of the most exhausting trips I have done. There was a lot of hiking at high altitudes and probably less than 10 hours of sleep in total for the whole week. Having been here 10-11 times before I had a long list of must-see locations I wanted to capture for this movie, but I am still not 100% used to carrying around so much gear required for time-lapse movies.
A large sandstorm hit the Sahara Desert on the 9th April (http://bit.ly/g3tsDW) and at approx 3am in the night the sandstorm hit me, making it nearly impossible to see the sky with my own eyes.
Interestingly enough my camera was set for a 5 hour sequence of the milky way during this time and I was sure my whole scene was ruined. To my surprise, my camera had managed to capture the sandstorm which was backlit by Grand Canary Island making it look like golden clouds. The Milky Way was shining through the clouds, making the stars sparkle in an interesting way. So if you ever wondered how the Milky Way would look through a Sahara sandstorm, look at 00:32.

PLEASE WATCH IN HD FULL SCREEN w/SOUND. It is a much better viewing experience. Hopefully you have a 1080P monitor and good connection. If not, bug a friend or colleague that does. It is worth it.
Landscapes: Volume 2 is the second of a three part series. Every frame of this video is a raw still from a Canon 5D2 DSLR and processed with Adobe software. In Volume 2 I again show off my beautiful home state of Arizona and I also made several trips to Utah. This video has some iconic landmarks that we have seen before. I felt that showing them again with motion controlled HDR and/or night timelapse would be a new way to see old landmarks.
Sales Pitch: I would now have to say that my timelapse skill set is very complete. The amount of knowledge I have gained through research, testing, and shooting experience is astounding. From moon phases to high dynamic range to motion control rigs to noise reduction, you would have a tough time finding someone with more overall knowledge of timelapse. If you need help with your next timelapse project you can reach me at 888-444-2739 or DustinF@crewwestinc.com
Most of the motion control for this video was done with the Stage Zero Dolly by Dynamic Perception. Once I got comfortable using the DP dolly I fell in love. I can set up shots now in much shorter times. More importantly for me, it is much smaller and much more portable than my homemade motion control. Without it, shots like the Delicate Arch shot in Utah would be nearly impossible due to the length of the hike. Buy the Stage Zero Dolly if you are looking for quality, inexpensive, easy-to-use motion control. http://dynamicperception.com/
In addition to the Stage Zero, I also used a three axis motion controlled CamTram. The CamTram is the most versatile dolly I have ever used. Its applications are only limited by your creativity. The CamTram has virtually no weight limit. I was able to achieve shots that dolly-in with the camera just over the ground because of the CamTram's ability to hold heavy counter weights.

Within Two Worlds
"Within Two Worlds depicts an alternate perspective by giving us the illusion of times movement, signifying a beginning and end within a world of constant contradiction. It appears you are traveling in the midst of a dream, half-sleeping, half-waking, and touching the arch connecting heaven and earth."
I discovered my passion for photography shortly after my mother’s passing while hiking the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) 3 years ago. This time-lapse video is my visual representation of how the night sky and landscapes co-exist within a world of contradictions. I hope this connection between heaven and earth inspires you to discover and create your own opportunities, to reach your rightful place within two worlds.
Please feel free to share #withintwoworlds! Special thanks to all for your continued support and encouragement.

Backpacking The Gila Wilderness, NM - Thru Hiking on the Middle Fork Trail #157 (Part 3 of 4)
MAY 20 - 26, 2012 --- The Gila Wilderness (pronounced: HEE-La) was designated the world's first wilderness area on June 3, 1924. Along with Aldo Leopold Wilderness and Blue Range Wilderness, the 558014 acres (2258.2 km2) wilderness is part of New Mexico's Gila National Forest. The wilderness is approximately 27 miles (43 km) from north to south and 39 miles (63 km) from east to west. The Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument is found within the wilderness. The Gila Wilderness is located in southwest New Mexico, north of Silver City and wrapping around Reserve. It contains the West Fork, Middle Fork and much of the East Fork of the Gila River; riverside elevations of around 5000 ft (1500 m) are the lowest in the wilderness. The Mogollon Mountains traverse an arc across the southwest of the wilderness. The tallest peak within this range, Whitewater Baldy at 10895 ft (3321 m) anchors the western point of the wilderness. At the northeast corner is Black Mountain at 9287 ft (2831 m). This is part 3 of 4 of our thru hike into the Gila Wilderness via the Middle Fork Trail #157 which covers Day 5 and 6. Total mileage of the entire trip: 38 miles. Sadly, the wildfire that was burning just to the west of us, consumed over 267000 acres of forest land and became New Mexico's biggest wildfire in our state's history. :( ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Music by: Kevin MacLeod Direct URL: www.incompetech.com Music by Dan O ...
