Truth vs Hype: Vidarbha - The Lie of the Land
Truth vs Hype: As the burning summer in Vidarbha brings drought and a fresh spurt of suicides, the government has gone into damage control. They claim that the water shortage is because of poor rainfall, and that they have fast-tracked long pending irrigation projects. This week, we set out to investigate the entirely man-made causes of Vidarbha's water crisis - from apathy and corruption to the diversion of river waters and a mammoth slew of power projects across the region, projects which reflect a collusion of political and business interests.

Furious battle between horribly late Vidarbha Express and Mumbai Fast Local train
Loco: 21950 WCAM-3
*** Please turn off or lower the volume due to high wind noise involved ***
After having defeated almost 12 hrs late running 12106 Gondia Jn-CSTM Vidarbha Express at Thane station ( http://youtu.be/T1jMwHe6hww ) our Mumbai Local train encountered a furious competition with it between Mulund station & Kanjur Marg station. This has been the most furious & longest parallel run captured by me & it is extremely difficult to find such an action within Mumbai on the Western Railway section.Unfortunately due to people boarding our Local train at Mulund station I couldn't get the battle right from the sight of Vidarbha Express. One can clearly notice how Vidarbha Express LP's made the most of getting a head start but the LP of our Local train was in no mood to give even the slightest of chance & accelerated brilliantly & within 30 seconds of video made sure he was driving faster than the LP's of Vidarbha Express which can be seen clearly as our Local train kept moving ahead at such furious pace. One thing which kept be on utmost focus was the close poles & signals which we have given be a big shock if I was not blessed with Luck & proper focus, slightest contact with any one of the poles or signal could have been a big disaster & hence even though some might feel i was stretching out but my entire body hand were completely well within the door. One can notice how the signal trips to Red from Green around 2.15 sec mark as soon as out train's first coach passed it.The station skipped furiously by both the train is Bhandup. In the end Vidarbha Express had to lose unfortunately due to a Red signal. The battle was so intense that even Youtube created all the 3 thumbnails with the A/C coaches only which were seen almost through most part of video

Maharashtra Irrigation scam: Farmer suicides continue in Vidarbha - NewsX
Even as the political crisis plays out in Maharashtra and the Centre after Ajit Pawar resigned as the state's Deputy Chief Minister over allegations of an irrigation scam we will show you how the full cost of the alleged 20,000 crore scam is directly fueling farmer hunger and suicides in Maharashtra. Take a look at the Vidarbha region which has now, sadly become synonymous with desperate and impoverished, debt-ridden farmers committing suicide. Areas like Akola, Amravati, Buldhana, Wardha, Washim and Yavatmal in the Vidarbha region have recorded unabated farmer suicides. And incidently these very same places are where irrigation projects were signed by Ajit Pawar and other Maharashtra ministers.

I Want My Father Back
'I Want My Father Back' is a 50 minutes film on the suicide of farmers in Vidarbha. Vidarbha is in the eastern region of Maharastra State in India. The film looks at the reasons behind these suicides, beginning with the fall- out of the Green Revolution, the changing traditional methods of farming, especially with regard to seeds, the globalization process, the debt-loan trap faced by farmers, and the devastating effects of Bt. seeds. The film speaks in favour of organic farming and ultimately shows that the death of the farmer also means the death of the soil.

Kejriwal accuses Gadkari of land grab in Vidarbha - NewsX
First came the warning from Arvind Kejriwal over exposing a 'corrupt politician', then the hype over who would be next in his firing line. But what unfolded on Wednesday was a complete let down. Kejriwal and India Against Corruption's big expose on BJP President Nitin Gadkari seems to have backfired. With no documents to support his claims of irregularity, Kejriwal's accusations against Gadkari degenerated from specific points to absolutely generalised charges, leaving the activist turned politician rapidly at risk of losing his credibility on all his other exposes.

Budget yatra: Vidarbha farmers unhappy with government aid
CNN-IBN's Budget Yatra has reached the country's cotton belt of Maharashtra. The Vidharbha region is infamous for farmer suicides and is still struggling with cotton production down by 40 per cent. In the same village that was visited by the Prime Minister who announced the farm waiver, six years later the situation is the same farmers are back in debt and struggling. Most say they are against free dole but want the right price for their produce.
Waifed village had a high profile guest in 2006, one they hoped would turn around their fortunes. A loan waiver scheme was announced following Dr Manmohan Singh's visit but little has changed. At Zila Panchayat member Manoj Chandurkar's 100-year-old ancestral home, CNN-IBN met some farmers who were offered the loan waiver scheme, but claim they didn't benefit.
