Air France Flight 447 (abbreviated AF447) was a scheduled international flight from Galeão International Airport in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to Charles de Gaulle International Airport in Paris, France. On 1 June 2009, the Airbus A330-203 airliner serving the flight crashed into the Atlantic Ocean, resulting in the deaths of all 216 passengers and 12 aircrew. The accident was the deadliest in the history of Air France. It was also the Airbus A330's second and deadliest fatal accident, and its first in commercial passenger service.
While Brazilian Navy authorities were able to remove the first major wreckage and two bodies from the sea within five days of the accident, initial investigation was hampered because the aircraft's black boxes were not recovered from the ocean floor until May 2011, nearly two years later.The final report, released at a news conference on 5 July 2012, stated that the aircraft crashed after temporary inconsistencies between the airspeed measurements -- likely due to the aircraft's pitot tubes being obstructed by ice crystals -- caused the autopilot to disconnect, after which the crew reacted incorrectly and ultimately led the aircraft to an aerodynamic stall from which they did not recover.

Air France Flight 447 was a scheduled airline flight from Rio de Janeiro to Paris that crashed into the Atlantic Ocean on 1 June 2009, killing all 216 passengers and 12 aircrew. This BBC documentary was produced almost a year BEFORE the black boxes were recovered, and it ACCURATELY predicted the primary cause of the air crash as pilot error.
On 27 May 2011, the BEA released an update on its investigation, describing the history of the flight as recorded by the flight data recorder. At 3 hour 55 minutes absolute time, the captain gave his seat to the 2nd co-pilot and went out of the cockpit to rest. At 4 hours 6 minutes absolute time, the pilot warned the cabin crew that they were about to enter an area of turbulence. 4 minutes later, the pilots turned the plane slightly to the left and decreased its speed to 0.8 Mach due to increased turbulence.
At 4 hours 10 minutes and 5 seconds absolute time, the autopilot and the auto-thrust systems disengaged. The pilot made a left nose-up input, as the plane began rolling to the right. The plane's stall warning sounded twice. 10 seconds later, the plane's recorded airspeed dropped sharply from 275 knots to 60 knots. The plane's angle of attack increased, and the plane started to climb. The left-side instruments then recorded a sharp rise in airspeed to 215 knots. This change was not displayed by the Integrated Standby Instrument System until a minute later (the right-side instruments were not recorded). The pilot continued making nose-up inputs, and at around 4 hours 11 minutes into the flight, the plane had climbed to its maximum altitude of around 38,000 feet. There, its angle of attack was 16 degrees. At 4 hours 11 minutes 40 seconds, the captain re-entered the cockpit. The angle of attack had then reached 40 degrees, and the plane had descended to 35,000 feet. The stall warnings stopped, as all airspeed indications were now considered invalid due to the high angle of attack. Roughly 20 seconds later, the pilot decreased the plane's pitch slightly, air speed indications became valid and the stall warning sounded again. From there until the end of the flight, the angle of attack never dropped below 35 degrees.
The recordings stopped at 4 hours 14 minutes and 28 seconds absolute time. At that point, the plane's ground speed was 107 knots, and it was descending at 10,912 feet per minute. During its descent the plane had turned more than 180 degrees to the right to a compass heading of 170 degrees. The plane was stalled during its entire 3 minute 30 second descent from 38,000 feet.
It has been suggested recently that the AirAsia Flight QZ8501 met its lethal fate in almost the same manner as AF447.

AF 447 war ein Linienflug der Air France von Rio de Janeiro nach Paris, auf dem in der Nacht vom 31. Mai zum 1. Juni 2009 ein Airbus A330-200 über dem Atlantik abstürzte, wobei alle 228 Insassen ihr Leben verloren. Es handelt sich um das bisher schwerste Unglück in der Geschichte der Air France.[1] Der Abschlussbericht der Unfalluntersuchung wurde am 5. Juli 2012 veröffentlicht.Bei dem Flugzeug handelte es sich um einen Airbus A330-203, Seriennummer 660, Kennzeichen F-GZCP, ausgerüstet mit zwei Triebwerken des Typs General Electric CF6-80E1A3. Seinen Erstflug hatte es am 25. Februar 2005,[3] bis zum Unglück hatte es rund 18.870 Flugstunden absolviert. Die letzte größere Wartung fand am 16. April 2009 statt.

The accident was the deadliest in the history of Air France. It was also the Airbus A330's second and deadliest fatal accident, and its first in commercial passenger service.
While Brazilian Navy authorities were able to remove the first major wreckage and two bodies from the sea within five days of the accident, initial investigation was hampered because the aircraft's black boxes were not recovered from the ocean floor until May 2011, nearly two years later.The final report, released at a news conference on 5 July 2012, stated that the aircraft crashed after temporary inconsistencies between the airspeed measurements -- likely due to the aircraft's pitot tubes being obstructed by ice crystals -- caused the autopilot to disconnect, after which the crew reacted incorrectly and ultimately led the aircraft to an aerodynamic stall from which they did not recover.

The plane's angle of attack increased, and the plane started to climb. The left-side instruments then recorded a sharp rise in airspeed to 215 knots. This change was not displayed by the Integrated Standby Instrument System until a minute later (the right-side instruments were not recorded). The pilot continued making nose-up inputs, and at around 4 hours 11 minutes into the flight, the plane had climbed to its maximum altitude of around 38,000 feet. There, its angle of attack was 16 degrees. At 4 hours 11 minutes 40 seconds, the captain re-entered the cockpit. The angle of attack had then reached 40 degrees, and the plane had descended to 35,000 feet. The stall warnings stopped, as all airspeed indications were now considered invalid due to the high angle of attack. Roughly 20 seconds later, the pilot decreased the plane's pitch slightly, air speed indications became valid and the stall warning sounded again. From there until the end of the flight, the angle of attack never dropped below 35 degrees.
The recordings stopped at 4 hours 14 minutes and 28 seconds absolute time. At that point, the plane's ground speed was 107 knots, and it was descending at 10,912 feet per minute. During its descent the plane had turned more than 180 degrees to the right to a compass heading of 170 degrees. The plane was stalled during its entire 3 minute 30 second descent from 38,000 feet.
It has been suggested recently that the AirAsia Flight QZ8501 met its lethal fate in almost the same manner as AF447.

吞噬掉228條生命的法航AF447空難的真相，在大西洋底沉睡了接近兩年才被揭開。2011年5月1日，就在搜索行動即將宣佈失敗的前夜，那架空客A330的黑匣子被打撈出水。與QZ8501一樣，AF447碰到了一個“中尺度對流系統”——規模百千米量級的強對流天氣(即雷暴)。
雷暴是飛行員最不願意見到的天氣。2014年3月4日，中國民用航空局發布了《航空器駕駛員指南-雷暴、晴空顛簸和低空風切變》，在這個指南裏，它被這樣描述：“雷暴中包含了飛行領域所有的已知危險氣象條件。”碰到雷暴，對飛行員而言最安全的處置方式就是躲開——推遲起飛、繞飛、返航或者備降。
雷暴會給飛機帶來什麼？首先是顛簸。身處雷暴中的飛機就如沸騰的火鍋裏的菜葉一樣，雷暴中的氣流強烈而混亂，飛機很難保持姿態。雷暴中的“下擊暴流”很凶險，但比它更危險的，是當飛機穿越下擊暴流，開始是逆風，穿過中心后迅速變順風。這就導致飛機會遭遇突然的升力損失，於是會掉高度。1985年8月，美國達美航空191航班着陸時遭遇下擊暴流，造成137人死亡。在AF447和QZ8501所處的萬米高空，不太可能出現下擊暴流，但劇烈顛簸仍會讓飛機變得難以操控。
雷暴中的閃電也會給飛行員帶來麻煩，它会干擾飛機上的電子通訊設備，破壞飛機外殼。它的強光還會讓飛行員暫時失明。還有結冰。法航AF447此前就出現空速管結冰的情況。堵塞了的空速管傳遞錯誤信息，導致自動駕駛儀停止工作，飛機被切換到手動操控模式。而駕駛員沒有完全准備好全面接管這種複雜狀況，一系列的錯誤操作讓飛機在3分鐘內從萬米高空直墜海面。
QZ8501為什麼沒有更堅決地繞開面前的雷暴區？我們可能永遠無法知道。可能的原因之一也許是飛行員充分的自信。
很多人在過去的這幾十個小時內把QZ8501失事的矛頭指向了廉價航空，認為正是廉價航空的唯利是圖增加的事故的風險。然而，作為世界上最著名的廉價航空公司之一，亞航卻擁有着傲人的安全記錄。從1996年11月18日開航直至2014年12月28日，這家擁有169架飛機，在22個國家100多個機場之間穿梭的航空公司從未發生過一起導致乘客喪生的安全事故。
