Yo! We bout to get it (get it) get it (get it)

Chorus: Pos
We run it, HOT! When we over the drums
To the, TOP! Cause the bottom we're from
We got the, DROP! On your weekend crew
cause you're full-time talkin while we peepin your view
[Pos]
Rahubat(?), you know my name
I run my humbleness with fame
God-body, nuttin plain
while you claimin shepherd that you heard this
you, heard this on day first
Watch my man, he'll make it worse
Ain't no new click, we still Native
[Dove]
Clothes knit, stitched tight, related
that's the way we handle it
Pin us up or mantle it
We on fire you candle lit
Daydreamin, on a rack
Get bought worn and brought back
We sport rhyme thought real tight
[Pos]
to gain sizes much bigger
Live life well, get mail filled with
checks from sales we deliver
[Dove]
Spend a little, make a little
I want it big like white boy wallets
Credit delievered, Fed-Excellent
To my dot com, we on the web like Charlotte's
Hornet, back her up, she too much on it
Your plastic ass'll get swiped
past the limit see you the type
to get yo' cosmetics smeared on pillows all night
Chorus
[Pos]
while we peepin your view
while we, peepin your view
We got they eyes on lock
Let them flock to your wit while I spit after you
[Dove]
Look ma, I'm still rhymin
Baby boy still providin
Breakin bread in four states
Makin these struggles get gone
Private eyes, I see y'all spyin
You watch while I clock
Fertilize my brain data
Makin accounts grow green like the front lawns
[Pos]
Yo I may be old school
but I'm not no old fool
Heard out your mouth words flee
bout "These niggaz ain't nice"
You just barbershop talkin
while we round the world walkin
B, you ain't D.M.C.
You slip and fall on my ice
No lyin, straight shinin
I give you supper from my upper diamond
You got limbs so climb in
[Dove]
Yo, soak up what you find-in
We too pure for you to try
You sniffin maybe's and if's
[Pos]
And if "if" was a spliff
Man we'd all be hiiiiiiiiigh-iiiiiigh.. iiiggghhhhh..
[Dove]
.. but it's not, so sober up
You flashin out like you paparaz'
You'll need to take a liver shot
to feel the heat on how we runnin it, YO
Chorus 1.75X (minus last line, 2nd time)
[Pos]
cause you're full time talkin while we, while we
while we lettin you know I'm in a
certified rhyme meadow for days
If you ask Mercenary bout this shit, it pays
Hitting Willie Mays style out the park
Mastering in this +Art+ that's +Official+
Your ears absorb this like tears, on a tissue
cause my thoughts are dollar bill crisp
Distinct like E-Double's lisp
L.I. alumni, wonder why I got it
Got it? Get a piece
Got product that you all should own and not lease
Some say drummers play synonymous with ill
with wordplay, that keep us all paid like a bill
We're the parent company
You the sub in my D-I-vision
They told me if I write this song for them.
That they would cut my hair for free.
But that's not me no liberties.
They're in to all the coolest bands
And knowing that they're going to the gigs as fans
Entitles me to some decency.
Astedwae ittlae ejaysdae
They're the cleverest blonde weekend.
Astedwae ittlae ejaysdae
I WISH everybody danced like them.
Split visions of a talkative therapy
It makes me bend away it gives me E
Seems hard to say, its insanity.
The same record for the 16th time
Exact same set you did the last time round
Doesn't bother me we're in harmony.
Astedwae ittlae ejaysdae
They're the cleverest blonde weekend.
Astedwae ittlae ejaysdae
I WISH everybody danced like them.
No low emotions rolling tonight
Young heavy hopefuls staying the night
So stick around and wait for the day.
Craziness kills lazyness N happiness
Takes bad bets no one gives a fuck U see we're all out of our little heads.
Craziness kills lazyness N happiness
Takes bad bets no one gives a fuck
You see we're all out of our,
All out of our,
All out of our little fucking heads
Doo doo doo doo...
Astedwae ittlae ejaysdae
They're the cleverest blonde weekend.
Astedwae ittlae ejaysdae
I WISH everybody danced like them.
Can anybody dance like them
Can U tell me
Does anybody dance like them
Can U tell me
Astedwae ittlae ejaysdae
(There's cracks on these walls
Ten thousand feet tall
Don't know what to do with them all) X2
I'm gonna build a million metre ladder
And I'm gonna fix them all
Someones tried to get out
Someones tried to get in
You know it weighs a tonne
You know my ego wears a grin
Someones tried to get out
Someones tried to get in
You know it weights a tonne
You know my patience is wearing thin
I'm gonna find a hundred million people and I'll turn them into one...
Of these walls
She's a real life girl in this fucked up world
And I suggest you call her the one
Disposable world full of throwaway girls
And I think that her time's not done
(The roof is falling down
And the ceiling wears a frown
At the only house in town where the ceiling falls down) X2
So let's rip up every slate and slab and see what's going down
And these walls
She's a real life girl in this fucked up world
And I suggest you call her the one
Disposable world full of throwaway girls
And I think that the beat is done
She's a real life girl in this fucked up world
And I suggest you call her the one
Disposable world full of throwaway girls
We've never spoke in three weeks man
And it's starting to freak me out
I hope there's no one gelling my bird
together with all their
sweet and utter charm
We've flown around the world
together we've seen a massive range of sick bags even in
Baghdad call my self your lad but seemingly you're sad
Thinking of poems of poverty
Sitting with a tight clenched wrist, thinking how to gain authority
Oh what a soft touch of a boy
He'd wander with pride to sell and keep visions to his self
Visions to his self
We'd talk of treasures, and over-rated games
We'd steal the milk bottles, sneaking through the back round Jimmy's way.
What we loved most of all, was sitting round the shop, while this young boy was sitting all alone,
Sitting all alone
Pondering times of sanctuary
He was taking his piano lessons, we were on half an E
Invested life in medicine, which isn't the wisest way to go,
Had so much shit going on.
Convinced he'd never win. Convinced he was a sin.
We'd speak of women and cheaper carryouts
We'd turn up to all the festivals, trying to bring down the touts,
What we love the most of all was sittin' at the shop, while this poor boy was sittin' all alone,
Sittin' all alone
We'd talk of treasures and overrated games
We'd steal the milk bottles, sneaking through the back round Jimmy's way.
What we loved most of all, was hanging round the shop, while this poor boy was sitting all alone,
He couldn't find none of his own kind, he didn't have none of his own kind
You should take interest in his mind, not spend all of his time wastin all his money and his time
Thinking of poems of poverty
Sitting with a tight clenched wrist, thinking how to gain authority
Oh what a soft touch of a don
He'd wander with pride to sell and keep visions to his self
Visions to his self
We'd talk of treasures, and over-rated games
We'd steal the milk bottles, sneaking through the back round Jimmy's way.
What we loved most of all, was hanging round the shop, while this young boy was sitting all alone,
Sitting all alone
We'd talk of treasures, and over-rated games
We'd steal the milk bottles, sneaking through the back round Jimmy's way.
What we loved most of all was hanging round the shop
What we loved most of all was waiting round the shop
What we loved most of all was sitting at the shop,
(Verse)
The fire exit door has never agreed with me
I'm never sure whether to push or pull
The fire exit door has never agreed with me
And leave me burning and I'm more the fool
(Chorus)
And oh the clock, the clock has no sympathy
And oh the clock, the clock's has it's way with me
(Verse)
Stay away if you're fed up of me
I'll never give you the time of day
If you won't give me my way
I'll never say something that I don't mean
Unless I really mean it,
And I really mean it now
(Chorus)
Cause oh the clock, the clock has no sympathy
And oh the clock, the clock's has it's way with me
And oh the clock, the clock has no sympathy
And oh the clock, the clock's has it's way with me
There's no fighting and no hiding
My pains is gone
There's no fighting and no hiding
Now my pain is gone
There's no fighting and no hiding
My pains is gone
There's no fighting and no hiding
My pains is gone
(Chorus)
And oh the clock, the clock has no sympathy
And oh the clock, the clock's has it's way with me
And oh the clock, the clock has no sympathy
And oh the clock, the clock's has it's way with me
Seal me up
(Outro)
'Cause the clock has no sympathy
And the clock's has it's way with me
And the clock has no sympathy
Superstar tradesman
Stand at the bar
Get a trade son
You will go far
You have a house in the ferry
And a new guitar that's never been played before
And it never will
Never been played before
And it never will
The weather is sunny
You're locked inside
The weather is sunny
Oh yes
Ive tried and ive tried
To keep me sane to keep me sane
To keep me sane to keep me sane
I don't want money I want a thing called happiness
I don't want cash you know
I'd quite like memories
To keep us on track
Lets never look back
To keep us on track
Lets never look back
What would you do
If I asked you
What would you do
If I asked you
To sail away to see some sights
Sail away with me to see some sights
Superstar tradesman
Stand at the bar
Get a trade son
You will go far
You have a house in the ferry
And a new guitar that's never been played before
And it never will
Never been played before
Skip away from a drunken day, & wake me up on Sunday.
Steal away from a drunken night, & wake me up on Sunday.
Thinking back on a hopeless night, & wake me up on Sunday.
I left the pub when we got kicked out, & wake me up on Sunday.
Cause when I feel the need to be thrilled I won't ask you.
Or when I feel the need to be thrilled I won't ask you.
I'm not stealing hope from you x2.
I run away from a broken day, & wake me up on Sunday.
Shift is done & I sing this song, & wake me up on a Sunday.
Cause when I'm looking for something new I won't ask you. x2
I'm not stealing hope from you. x4
Take a note of the scenic road, girl
Take a note of the scenic road, girl
Take a note of the scenic road, girl
Jump around, to the stolen, to the stolen sun/sound.
So jump around, to the stolen, to the stolen sun/sound.
I'm not stealing hope from you.
I'm not stealing hope from you.
Take your life in your own hands
Walk down the street
Lookin' over your shoulder
Who will you meet?
And it's a big crowd out tonight
(Look at the street lights)
Oh it's a big crowd out tonight
(Look at the street lights)
Oh it's a big crowd out tonight
(Look at the street lights)
Look at the street lights
What a pretty sight, ha!
You say that you love me
You say that you don't
You try to get me to jump
Through your hoop but I won't
And it's a big crowd out tonight
(Look at the street lights)
Oh it's a big crowd out tonight
(Look at the street lights)
Oh it's a big crowd out tonight
(Look at the street lights)
Look at the street lights
What a pretty sight
I'd like to move city
I'd like to move town
'Cause all you ignorant people
You're bringing me down
And it's a big crowd out tonight
(Look at the street lights)
Oh it's a big crowd out tonight
(Look at the street lights)
Oh it's a big crowd out tonight
(Look at the street lights)
Oh it's a big crowd out tonight
(Look at the street lights)
Take your life in your own hands
Walk down the street
And looking over your shoulder
Who will you meet?
And it's a big crowd out tonight
(Look at the street lights)
Oh it's a big crowd out tonight
(Look at the street lights)
Oh it's a big crowd out tonight
(Look at the street lights)
Look at the street lights
What a pretty sight
Look at the street lights
What a pretty sight
Look at the street lights
What a pretty sight
Look at the street lights
(Look at the street lights)
Oh what a pretty sight
(Oh what a pretty sight)
Look at the street lights
(Look at the street lights)
Oh what a pretty sight
Take your life in your own hands
Walk down the street looking over your shoulder
Who will you meet?
And it's a big crowd out tonight
(Look at the street lights)
Oh, It's a big crowd tonight
(Look at the street lights)
Oh, It's a big crowd out tonight
Look at the street lights, what a pretty sight
You say that you love me
You say that you don't
You try to get me to jump through your hoop
But I won't
And it's a big crowd out tonight
(Look at the street lights)
Oh, It's a big crowd tonight
(Look at the street lights)
Oh, It's a big crowd out tonight
Look at the street lights, what a pretty sight
I'd like to move city
I'd like to move town
Cos all you ignorant people, you're bringing me down
And it's a big crowd out tonight
(Look at the street lights)
Oh, It's a big crowd tonight
(Look at the street lights)
Oh, It's a big crowd out tonight
Take your life in your own hands

Skag trendy thought he new just what to do,
He was only seventeen and he was out screwing the brew,
He thought that parents were too old and teachers told him what to do,
He's master skag trendy 'n' he'd like to talk to you.
He told his mother what he was all about,
She didn't acknowledge the cry for help,
She just chucked him out,
Now he's broke sitting outside, sitting on the floor.
Nothing else to think about except another score,
But before he gets this he has to go and steal something.
That's not something that he really wants to do,
But you see since his mother chucked him out,
She signed him off the brew,
I wish somebody would love him,
He doesn't have a hope,
I wish somebody would love him,
He doesn't have a home.
He'd like to speak to his old school friends,
But he needs ten pence for his phone.
He had a girlfriend she was very, very, very nice,
Walks by him now, won't look at him twice,
She liked his dress sense and his cheeky, cheeky grin,
But you see since he's been chucked out,
He's lost all of them, he's got none.
So he writes another sad song, he's got none.
So he writes another sad song.
I'm master skag trendy thought I knew just what to do,
I was only seventeen and I was out screwing the brew,
I thought that parents were too old and teachers told him what to do,
I'm master skag trendy and I'd like to talk to you.
I wish somebody would love me, cos I don't have a home.
I wish somebody would love me, cos I don't have a home.
I'd like to speak to my old school friends, but I need ten pence for the phone.
One thing would happen to someone in this situation,
That is complete and utter social deterioration,
Should have clicked on when he was out pawning his playstation,
Just a young man looking for some variation.
He made a mistake; he was looking for some variation,
I've had the same jeans on for four days now
I'm gonna go to a disco in the middle of the town
Everybody's dressing up
I'm dressing down
Life's one big circle
And it doesn't end
When it ends
Will you still be my friend?
I'm not making a fool of myself
Oh tell me
I'm not making a fool of myself
When you look in the mirror
Reflecting back at you someone that you don't know
Oh That's just made your head spin around
So get yourself together
Get your feet back on the ground
I've had the same jeans on for four days now
I'm gonna go to a disco in the middle of the town
Everybody's dressing up
I'm dressing down
I take my hats off to the busker man
When they drown all the sorrows singing songs
Now everything has worked out to plan
But believe me it started as long as it can
When you look in the mirror
Reflecting back at you someone that you don't know
Life's just made your head spin around
So get yourself together
Now put your feet back on the ground
I've had the same jeans on for four days now
I'm gonna go to a disco in the middle of the town
Everybody's dressing up
I'm dressing down
My minds not perfect but it's sincere
You'd be amazed at what you can achieve in a year
And you try so hard
But your hearts on a switch
And I know you try so hard
But your hearts on a switch
When you look in the mirror
Reflecting back at you someone that you don't know
Life's just made your head spin around
So get yourself together
Get your feet back on the ground
When you look in the mirror
Reflecting back at you someone that you don't know
Life's just made your head spin around
So get yourself together
Get your feet back on the ground
Same Jeans on for four days now
Everybody's dressing up I'm dressing down
I'm not making a fool of myself
Now believe me lady I can't tell
Same Jeans on for four days now
Everybody's dressing up I'm dressing down
Im not making a fool of myself
Living on them pills lying in squalor
That's the life of the late night bar crawler
The most outrageous man I met once said
"I could take a belly full of lead and wouldn't wind up dead"
He wants his song to make you shiver
a little like there's a ghost coming your way
Have you ever been told that something's forever
and had your heart broken the very next day
Shout it from the rooftoop
You canshout it from the rooftop
But you can't tell it to the paper, they've already been paid
To be ten different people that's easy, it's easier than being yourself
I'm the one off pretender I'm not happy, picking life off the shelf
He taught me, time wasted, it's time spent well
The a mans dead if he doesn't have a story to tell
Dead if he's lying in a dirty jail cell
Coz when your down they'll kick you
the jury doesn't matter at all
The jury doesn't matter at all
Tell me officer when your baton kissed me
did it make you feel tall?
And no one asked you where you come from
No one told you of these times
And no one asked you where you come from
No one told you of these times
That is your life don't waste it
Why don't you run away?
A man to reckon with he knows how to persuade
Says you won't get a sun tan in this government shade
Does it make you quiver a little, the way they say
"We're gonna fuck you". take a little bit of freedom away every day
You can shout it from the rooftops
You can shout it from the rooftops
You can shout it from the rooftops
I want you to know I had no place to go
Want you to see what you done to me
Because of him you've thrown me away
You could of gone with him and chose another day
Just because your gullible ranger
You've made me feel like I'm deranged
And that seems strange cause you gave me the life
That seems strange cause you gave me the life
I'm feeling almost dead you're messing up my head
I'm in the wrong direction still no support
Because of him you've thrown me away
You could of gone with him and chose another day
The road that you have taken now
Is all because of me somehow
And that seems strange cause you gave me the life
That seems strange cause you gave me the life
Just because your gullible range
You've made me feel like I'm deranged
And that seems strange cause you me the life
And I'll love my son, like you loved one
I will become another part of you
I'll carry the weight of you
So I'll love my son, like you loved one
It's now my turn to follow a better day
Think of a better way
I'll love my son, like you loved one
I will become another part of you
I'll carry the weight of you
I want you to know I have no place to go
Chorus:
How long has it been since you've fell in love with a boy like me?
How long has it been since you've fell in love with a boy like me?
When you drop 6 bottles of your best perfume, I'll turn them into 12
Standing on the shoulders that are slating you I slay them all myself
Your last order of your cheap old wine has never helped your case,
I'll come running with a crate of champagne to brighten up your face
So don't call me crazy, cause it's all for you lady!
Chorus:
How long has it been since you've fell in love with a boy like me?
How long has it been since you've fell in love with a boy like me?
You're the... my type of girl
Without you I stay a little warm
I'll come running when the window make a chime.
Cause if I take your words in the song I sing,
Like the rock the paper, the scissors that sort of thing
The question is waiting in the pretty scene, how long has it been?
So don't call me crazy, cause it's all for you lady!
Chorus:
How long has it been since you've fell in love with a boy like me?
How long has it been since you've fell in love with a boy like me?
I'll come running, come running, when the wind don't make a chime
Come running, I'll come running, when the wind don't make a chime
Don't make a chime for me and you
Chorus: (x4)
How long has it been since you've fell in love with a boy like me?
I wasn't born to make you happy
I wasn't born to make you sad
I never hear my sweetheart calling
I wonder if the truth stands tall
(Cause?) I'm playing your game
Fighting for your name
I'm sticking around cause I'm lonely
... Cause I'm lonely
I wasn't born to make you happy
I wasn't born to make you sad
Although you see my sweet surrender
You're still the bitch that makes me mad
I never hear your young heart bleeding
My ear is never close to unwanted taps
But I won't let your drip run dry
I'll live with your lie
I'm sticking around cause I'm lonely
... Sticking around cause I'm lonely
I wasn't born to make you happy
I wasn't born to make you sad
Although you see my sweet surrender
You're still the bitch that makes me mad
So when I come I hope you know
That you'll have no place left to go
And I wont find no room in here
For you to chuck me out on my ear
I wasn't born to make you happy
I wasn't born to make you sad
Although you see my sweet surrender
You're still the bitch that makes me mad
Without the L
Without the E
What is love to (for?) you and me
Without the L
Without the E
What is love to (for?) you and me
I wasn't born to make you happy
There's a mile long queue at the chippy
I wish I was at my Gran's for tea
These people call me their friend, but they don't think the same as me
Are you fed up chasing your tail round this housing scheme
Drinkin' your drink now
And staying up too early in the morning
I wander through the streets of Dundee
Mum said you shouldn't walk them alone
A fight's a fight, 'n' that's quite alright
But please leave the tools at home
You lower standards and expectations of love
You never aim for people that you think are levels above
You're always chasing the same skirts round
Round the local pub
Where were you when I needed you?
Up the posh end of town
You're supposed to protect and serve
Lying in some euphoric vibe
Stories being told, of a girl you'd like to ride,
She seems nice, to the blind man with a drink
But oh man what a tea leaf, no second chance to think
She'll say she's changed, but I know her game,
She'll cane all of your baggies, and leave someone to blame
So I'm never gonna ask her
Don't let the girl come in, Don't let the girl come in,
She'll put you in a spin, take everythin'
Just don't let her in
I enter in, the middle of the night,
This house it seems so empty, I can feel her kickin about,
The door goes crash, and out goes my guitar
Musn't worry much, cos next doors never far,
So I chap the door, and out she comes,
Lookin rather smokin', as if nothin has occured
So I'm never gonna ask her
Don't let the girl come in, Don't let the girl come in,
She'll put you in a spin, take everythin'
Just don't let her in
Just don't let her in
Don't let the girl come in, cos you know,
You know she'll put you, put you in a spin
So stay away, don't answer open,
Answer nothing more,
What's is goin' on in your house.
On in your house
On in your house
On in your house
Don't let the girl come in, Don't let the girl come in,
She'll put you in a spin, take everythin'
Just don't let her in
Don't let the girl come in, (don't let her in)
Don't let the girl come in, (don't let her in)
She'll put you in a spin, take everythin'
Just don't let her in
Just don't let her in
Bye, bye, bye bye, bible,
Bye, bye, bye bye, faith.
Bye, bye, bye bye, bible
Bye, bye, bye bye, faith.
Oh I'm gonna have a piggin mornin'
I'm gonna have a piggin day,
I'm gonna have a piggin mornin'
I'm gonna have a piggin day.
The girl that I've been speakin' to my whole life,
Has left me for my friend,
The girl that I've been speakin' to my whole life,
Has left me for my friend.
Bye, bye, bye bye, bible,
Bye, bye, bye bye, faith.
Bye, bye, bye bye, bible
Bye, bye, bye bye, faith.
'Cause I'm gonna have a piggin mornin'
I'm gonna have a piggin day,
I'm gonna have a piggin mornin'
I'm gonna have a piggin day.
The girl that I've been speakin' to my whole life,
Has left me for my friend,
The girl that I've been speakin' to my whole life,
Has left me for my friend
The girl that I've been speakin' to my whole life,
Has left me for my friend,
The girl that I've been speakin' to my whole life,
Has left me for my friend
And I can change,
But I can't change yesterday,
And I'd rather change,
But things wont be the same.
And I can change,
But I can't change yesterday,
You'll do the same,
But I can't change your way
And I can change,
But I can't change yesterday
Oh we can change,
But I can't
The girl that I've been speakin' to my whole life, (bye bye bye bye bible)
Has left me for my friend, (bye bye bye bye faith)
The girl that I've been speakin' to my whole life, (bye bye bye bye bible)
Has left me for my friend (bye bye bye bye faith)
The girl that I've been speakin' to my whole life, (bye bye bye bye bible)
Has left me for my friend, (bye bye bye bye faith)
The girl that I've been speakin' to my whole life, (bye bye bye bye bible)
Has left me for my friend (bye bye bye bye faith)
The girl that I've been speakin' to my whole life, (bye bye bye bye bible)
Has left me for my friend, (bye bye bye bye faith)
The girl that I've been speakin' to my whole life, (bye bye bye bye bible)
Has left me for my friend (bye bye bye bye faith)
You have a face for the radio,
But I know you'd like to see it in a show,
Claiming to be the next best everything,
Which way will you go?
You're a little smarter than most of us,
You run so fast sometimes it's hard to see you for dust,
Finding some time for you, it tortures me,
Which way will you go?
Wages on a Friday,
Spent on a Saturday,
Lend me a fiver,
Won't do that again,
Oh your trust is not too strong.
You're arrogance in a bag,
Won't spare you a fag,
Superstar wannabe,
Says it comes naturally,
Cemented in your own feeble way,
He watches trainspotting, fifteen times a week,
Thinking it's making him oh so unique,
PC on summer nights and football in the rain,
Doesn't matter how far he is,
He always has money for the train,
Which way will you go?
Nothing against you, love in my heart,
You're really a nice guy, I've known it from the start,
Your conscience is eager, to know where you lie,
Pushing your limits, give it up and remember you can cry.
Remember you can cry, and I know, and I know, and I know that you can cry
Wages on a Friday,
Spent on a Saturday,
Lend me a tenner,
Won't do that again,
Oh your trust is not too strong.
You're arrogance in a bag,
Won't spare you a fag,
Superstar wannabe,
Says it comes naturally,
cemented In your own feeble way.
You have a face for the radio,
I don't know what I have done,
But I'm sure I will in the next five seconds,
You see I have a telephone,
When people call they don't stop ringing for me,
Last night was as mystery,
So the words can create a picture for my mind to see,
Pictures seem to make me sweat,
Something in the morning my sisters told me I would regret.
Refuse to believe what you just told me,
Refuse to believe till you tell me slowly,
Or bring me down gradually.
Aremsee he under-stands,
He's not afraid to tell me about my late night shenanigans,
See I was put here for the world to see,
You can't tell me where I'm going or tell me who I'd like to be,
I don't intend to stop my drinkin',
I know I should and it's clever thinkin',
But don't tell me...
I don't know what I have done, but I'm sure I will,
In the next five seconds,
You see I have a telephone,
And when people call they don't stop ringing for me.
Things they change as you get older,
No longer a devil on each shoulder,
I met a girl at the Cambel town bar
You know the one that plays the guitar
'Yes' she said some things that you shouldn't say
Wonder if she remembers
She was wasted anyway
It's the next day
Who remembers what
No-one knows
Everybody's too afraid to talk about it anyway
These particular times everyone's out of line
It makes no change it's so strange
Everybody's walking around so deranged
She asked me to play her that song everyone likes
She said she'd listen as the day is long and dance shed dance into the night
We talked of dreams, romance and excess
Something inside of her tells me she climbs to be the best
This you have to respect
Stuck in her dead in job
And yes she said, some things that she should not say
She wonders if I remember
I was wasted anyway
It's the next week
We stop and speak
Happens all the times
It's like a trend and it totally drives me round the bend
These particular times
Everyone's out of line it makes no change
It's strange
I'm comin' down, comin' down,
It took so long for me to come around,
They tell you, it smashes brain,
Drain you of all the blood you've left in your veins.
If you spare me a brew and a double bed,
You might give me the time to clear my head tonight,
With these stones you cast so fast,
Makes me think that we will never last.
I hear it, do you hear that sound,
Hear that now aloud, it's comin' down.
I'm not eager to be mean, I'm eager to be anyone I want to be.
If you spare me a brew and a double bed,
You might give me time to clear my head tonight,
With these stones you cast so fast,
I felt I was one with you,
You probably didn't see,
Oh I'm a nervous one,
My pain it comes easily.
Should I revolve my world around you,
Should I revolve my light around you,
Claudia, Claudia,
You're taunting you're teasing,
You know I have feelings too,
They're all for you,
Claudia, Claudia,
Provoking my heart,
And I still haven't broken the code,
To your heart now, oh no,
I blame it on your upbringing,
You were made around the side of a van,
You call me the trusting one,
Trust it comes easy man,
Should I revolve my world around you,
Should I revolve my light around you,
Claudia, Claudia,
You're taunting you're teasing,
You know I have feelings too,
They're all for you,
Claudia, Claudia,
Provoking my heart,
And I still haven't broken the code,
I love it when you come, I love it when you go.
You bring my tea to the table, but your cooking's always slow.
Your stealing all my light, in my only precious days.
You know we're living by the night, I hope your candle comes my way
I hope your candle comes my way
I hope your candle comes my way.
When I'm laughing,(You're doing a little more) I'll be crying
When I'm living,(You're doing a little more) I'll be dying.
I love it when you come, I love it when you go.
You know, my Jupiter and Mars are covered in your snow.
So cover up your eyes then cover up your ears.
When I'm laughing (You're doing a little more)or the crying.
When I'm living (You're doing a little more)of the dying.
When I'm laughing (You're doing a little more)or the crying.
When I'm living (You're doing a little more)of the dying.
So cover up your eyes and cover up your ears.
Don't feel me crash done no more.
So cover up your eyes and cover up your ears.
I love it when you come, I love it when you go.
You know I love it when you come, I love it when you go.
So cover up these eyes, and cover up these ears.
When I'm laughing (You're doing a little more)oh, I'm crying
When I'm living (You're doing a little more)and I'm not dying.
When I'm laughing (You're doing a little more)or the crying.
When I'm living (You're doing a little more)of the dying.
When I'm laughing, I'm crying.
When I'm living, I'm not dying
When I'm laughing, I'm crying.
IVfeel like a sun without a sky
Feel like a socket without an eye
Feel like a house but not a home
Just a dog without a bone
How can you wink without an eye
Like a greivance but with no cry
A house, but not a home and I don't know why
Just a pig without a sty
The best lasts forever woah
The best lasts forever woah
Feel like a sail but I've been slashed
A viglante that's been unmasked
Feel like a raft, but not a ship
Sinking on this south facing tip
I know that before when you answered the door
I told you and the world to leave me
And I know that before when you answered the door
I told you and the world to leave me
But the best lasts forever woah
The best lasts forever woah
Together again woah
Together again
Have you ever felt like a story untold?
A catwalk model that's growing old
Hard to imagine what's more important
The rainbow, the pot or the gold
I know that before when you answered the door
I told you and the world to leave me
And I know that before when you answered the door
I told you and the world to leave me
Thinking about what it is that made you change
Was it the quarks, the dosh or the dames
When did I become so deranged
Think of the time when blood ran through your veins
When she looked as sweet as a candy cane
As she looks through the window paine
Through the window pain and the rain
I say it again and again, the best lasts forever
The best lasts forever
The best lasts forever woah
The best lasts forever woah
I know that before when you answered the door
I told you and the world to leave me
And I know that before when you answered the door
I told you and the world to leave mr
I've been on my knees on so many streets
Not just the ones in Dundee
Fell on my face been a legless disgrace
Ten thousand laughing at me
But still, the best lasts forever
The best lasts forever woah
The best lasts forever woah
The best lasts forever woah
The best lasts forever woah
I love the dress sense and the colour of your hair
The way you say that people who are working
they are aiming to be posh my dear
People flocked around you by the smokeys in our school
Teachers they contained in all anger as you
regulary, broken their rules. And everyone done the pill. But solvent abuse it can KILL!
The first taste of heaven there was
splattered on your screen. Floating with the schemers and the part-time Halloweeners and the Lochee team and everyone the pill. But solvent abuse can kill
5 Rebbecca's all of them are close to me 1 of them's a cook, 1 of them does history 1 of them's my niece and 1 lives close the 1 I love the most has turned into a Junky
So under satisfied with minors at your age, and something so deceiving when you find yourself conceiving on a holy day
So anachieveable with minors at your height, and something so deceiving when you find yourself conceiving on a Sunday Night
And everyone's on the pill. But solvent abuse can Kill
5 Rebbecca's all of them are close to me 1 of them's a cook, 1 of then does history 1 of them's my niece and 1 lives close the 1 I love the most has turned into a Junky
Poor Miss Rebbecca you'll be missed my girl. If it wasn't for the treasure you'd be rich my girl, saved you from the terror and your so-called friends. Took a back seater but they kicked it in the end though
You're sitting really cosy in your humble black cave doesn't seem likely for a girl your age
Us cupid little kids can never look back, when one of us is lying in the big brown bag
5 Rebbecca's all of them are close to me 1 of them's a cook, 1 of them does history 1 of them's my niece and 1 lives close the 1 I love the most has turned into a Junky
I love the dress sense and the colour of your hair
The way you say that people who are working
Listening to you, not listening
This is the wasteland, we call this the wasteland
Where fewer little posh boys can't believe we treasure beer cans
Where'd you get those fans? Found them at the shop, man
Peculiar place to find them but they're dedicated View fans
You think it's cynical to this home a miracle
It's not a miracle, we're just so strangely typical
Initiate in one gang, initiation is tough, man
Imprisonment is on the cards, we're heading for the quick sand
Sign on the brew 'cause there's nothing to do
Nothing to do but listen to you
Not listening to you, my parents told me not to
Listening to you, my parents told me not to
This is the wasteland, our idealistic wasteland
Regurgitated circle of a seven hour shop stand
So steal a car, chief, the police are off the beat, thief
They'll find it funny when they see insurance relief
Sign on the brew 'cause there's nothing to do
Nothing to do but listen to you
Not listening to you, my parents told me not to
Listening to you, look, my parents told me not to
Think you're a hard prick, something quite sadistic
No, you weren't sadistic when he'd done you with the brick wick
Your land is boring, so very, very boring
You wouldn't need to wonder if it's raining or it's snowing
We call this the wasteland, wasteland, wasteland
Idealistic wasteland, wasteland, wasteland
This is the wasteland, your trick is the wasteland
Idealistic circle of a little bit of wasteland
take a look at the red light my fever spreads
I want to make you bad and disillusionized
feel the pain of the spotlight I am your life
pick up your telephon believe what I say
it's a view of your whole life are you surprised?
What can I do for you? Your life is a lie
take a look at the spotlight it's all the same
what has you done for me? That's all what I say
I've been working hard
go my way too smart
I believe in god
I'm afraid in blood
what else can I do?
Make my heaven blue
give me anything
I think I'm everything
it's the sound of an earthquake you feel the end
your name flies with the wind and light is far away
what's the matter with your love you are so bored
all girls you ever had said: you must be alone
what's the matter with your love
what's the matter with your life...
take a look at the spotlight it's all the same
what has you done for me? That's all what I say
I've been working hard
go my way too smart
I believe in god
I'm afraid in blood
what else can I do?
Make my heaven blue
give me anything
I think I'm everything
what's this life...
what's this life...
what's this life...

A view is what can be seen in a range of visual perception (i.e., from a certain perspective). The word view may imply a scenic outlook or extraordinary vantage point:
“ | The barrier Rhine hath flashed, through battle-smoke, On men who gaze heart-smitten by the view, As if all Germany had felt the shock! |
” |
—William Wordsworth, The Germans on the Heights of Hochheim (1816)[1] |
View may also mean:
Laws or regulations in various jurisdictions may protect a view as an easement, preventing property owners from constructing buildings that would block the view from another location. For example, planning regulations in London protect the view of various historical buildings, such as St. Paul's Cathedral and the Palace of Westminster.

Kenneth Arnold "Kenny" Chesney (born March 26, 1968) is an American country music singer and songwriter. Chesney has recorded 15 albums, 14 of which have been certified gold or higher by the RIAA. He has also produced more than 30 Top Ten singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, 20 of which climbed to the top of the charts.
Over the life of his career, Chesney has been honored with numerous awards from the Academy of Country Music (ACM), Country Music Association (CMA), American Music Awards (AMA), Country Music Television (CMT), Billboard Music Awards (BMA), People's Choice Awards (PCA), and the French Country Music Awards (FCMA).
Chesney recently produced and co-directed a film for ESPN, "The Boys Of Fall". Chesney has received six Academy of Country Music awards(including four consecutive Entertainer of the Year Awards from 2005 to 2008),[1] as well as six Country Music Association awards. He is one of the most popular touring acts in country music, regularly selling out the venues at which he performs.[2][3] His 2007 Flip-Flop Summer Tour was the highest-grossing country road trip of the year.[4]
The Country Music Association honored Chesney with the Entertainer of the Year award in 2004, 2006, 2007, and 2008. Other notable awards include the Academy of Country Music's 1997 New Male Vocalist of the Year, 2002 Top Male Vocalist of the Year, and the Triple Crown Award in 2005. He was awarded his fourth consecutive Entertainer of the Year award from the Academy of Country Music on May 18, 2008.
Chesney was born on March 26, 1968, in Knoxville, Tennessee at St. Mary's Medical Center and raised in Luttrell, Tennessee, of English and Irish descent. He is the son of David Chesney, a former elementary school teacher, and Karen Chandler, a hair stylist in the Knoxville area. Chesney has one sibling, a younger sister named Jennifer Chandler. In 1986 Chesney graduated from Gibbs High School where he played baseball and football. Chesney received his first guitar "The Terminor" for Christmas and began teaching himself to play.[5] Chesney studied advertising at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City TN, where he was a member of the ETSU Bluegrass Program and the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. In 1989 Chesney recorded a self-released demo album at Classic Recording Studio in Bristol, Virginia. He sold 1,000 copies while performing at the local clubs in Johnson City and used the money from album sales to help buy a new guitar.[6] Chesney graduated from East Tennessee State in December 1990 with a degree in advertising.[6] After graduation he headed to Nashville and performed at several local clubs. He became the resident performer at The Turf, a honky tonk bar in the city's historic district.
In 1992, the head of writer relations at BMI, Clay Bradley, recommended Chesney to his friend at Opryland Music Group, Troy Tomlinson, by saying: "I met this kid today from East Tennessee. He’s a good singer, a good songwriter, and more than anything, I think you’re going to really like him as a person.”[7] For the audition for Tomlinson, Chesney performed five songs. Tomlinson's reaction was enthusiastic, later telling HitQuarters:
"First of all I was attracted to the songs, because I thought that he painted great pictures in his lyrics, particularly for someone who had not been around the typical Music Row co-writes. I thought that he sang very well too. But more than anything there was a kind of this ‘I-will-do-it’ look in his eyes - I was really drawn in by the fact that he was so set on being successful in this business."[7]
Chesney left the audition with a songwriter’s contract. An appearance at a songwriter’s showcase the following year led to a contract with Capricorn Records which had recently started a country division. He released his debut album In My Wildest Dreams in April 1994. When Capricorn closed its country music division in Nashville and moved to Atlanta, Georgia Chesney signed with BNA Records.
Chesney's first album, In My Wildest Dreams, was released on the independent Capricorn Records label in 1994. The album's lead-off singles, "The Tin Man" and "Whatever It Takes", both reached the lower regions of the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts. The album sold approximately 10,000 copies before Capricorn Records closed its country music division later that year.[8]
After Capricorn's closure, Chesney signed with BNA Records, which released his album All I Need to Know in 1995. The album produced three hit singles. "Fall in Love" and "All I Need to Know" both reached the Top Ten, while "Grandpa Told Me So" peaked at #23.[8] "The Tin Man" was also included on this album, although it was not released as a single at the time.
Released in 1996, Chesney's second major-label album was Me and You.[8] Although its lead-off single peaked just outside the Top 40 on the country charts, the album's title track (which was reprised from All I Need to Know) and the single "When I Close My Eyes" (which was previously recorded by Larry Stewart on his 1993 debut album Down the Road) both peaked at #2 on the Billboard country charts. Me and You was also Chesney's first gold-certified album.[8] A cover of Mac McAnally's 1990 single "Back Where I Come From" was also included on this album. Although Chesney's version was never released as a single, it has become a regular song played during his concerts. In recognition of his successful year, Chesney was honored with the 1997 Academy of Country Music's New Male Vocalist of the Year award.
I Will Stand, Chesney's third album for BNA, was released in 1997. "She's Got It All" was the album's lead-off single, becoming Chesney's first #1 single, spending three weeks at the top of the Billboard country charts.[8] The album's second single, "A Chance", peaked just shy of the Top Ten. In 1998, "That's Why I'm Here" went to #2 on Billboard and reached the top of the charts on Radio & Records, giving Chesney his third #1 single overall.
Everywhere We Go, released in 1999, was Chesney's fourth album for BNA. The album produced two consecutive #1 singles in "How Forever Feels" and "You Had Me from Hello" (the latter inspired by a line in the movie Jerry Maguire).[8] The album also produced two more hits, including "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy" and "What I Need to Do",[8] which peaked at #11 and #8 on the country charts, respectively. Everywhere We Go was Chesney's first platinum-selling album.[8]
By 2000, Chesney released his Greatest Hits compilation album.[8] It included four new tracks, as well as updated versions of "Fall in Love", "The Tin Man", and "Back Where I Come From". The new version of "The Tin Man" was one of the disc's three singles, along with two of the new tracks, "I Lost It" and "Don't Happen Twice".[8]
The album No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems was released in 2002. The lead-off single, "Young", peaked at #2, while the follow-up "The Good Stuff" spent seven weeks at #1, becoming Billboard's #1 country song of the year for 2002. The video for "Young" was honored by CMT with the Video of the Year and Male Video of the Year awards for 2002. In 2003, ACM honored Chesney as Top Male Vocalist of the Year, while "The Good Stuff" received the award for Single Record of the Year. The following year, CMT recognized the video produced for "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems" as the Hottest Video of the Year.
In 2003, Chesney recorded All I Want for Christmas Is a Real Good Tan. The album's title track peaked at #30 on the country charts from holiday airplay.
2004 saw the release of Chesney's album When the Sun Goes Down. Its lead-off single, "There Goes My Life", spent seven weeks at the top of the Billboard country charts. On April 21, 2004, the accompanying video was honored by CMT with the Male Video of the Year award. The album's title track, "When the Sun Goes Down", a duet with Uncle Kracker, was also a #1 single. The video from the third single from the album, "I Go Back", was honored on April 11, 2005, with the Male Video of the Year by Country Music Television.
When the Sun Goes Down was honored with the 2004 CMA award for Album of the Year, while Chesney was honored as the Entertainer of the Year. He was also presented with the American Music Award's 2004 Artist of the Year award.
In January 2005, Chesney released the album Be as You Are (Songs from an Old Blue Chair), supporting the album with his Somewhere in the Sun Tour.
In the spring of 2005, Chesney was honored with the prestigious Triple-Crown Award presented by the Academy of Country Music. This award was presented after Chesney's 2004 Academy of Country Music's Entertainer of the Year award was combined with 1997's New Male Vocalist of the Year award and 2003's Top Male Vocalist of the Year award. The following year, on May 23, 2006, Chesney was honored with his second Entertainer of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards.[9]
Chesney released his second album of the year in November, The Road and the Radio, producing three #1 singles. "Living in Fast Forward", "Summertime", and "Beer in Mexico" all hit #1, while "Who You'd Be Today" and "You Save Me" broke the Top Five.
Live: Live Those Songs Again is Chesney's first live album. Released on September 19, 2006 on BNA Records, the album includes live renditions of 15 songs, including 11 singles. "Live Those Songs", "Never Gonna Feel Like That Again", "On the Coast of Somewhere Beautiful", and "Back Where I Come From" were never released by Chesney as singles, while "Back Where I Come From" had been released as a single from Mac McAnally's 1990 album Simple Life.
Kenny collaborated with one of his personal heroes, Jimmy Buffett, on a remake of Hank Williams' " Hey Good Lookin' (with Clint Black, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith and George Strait), and a second song,"License To Chill ". Both songs are on Buffett's 2004 album, "License To Chill".
Chesney, along with Tim McGraw, contributed to a version of Tracy Lawrence's single "Find Out Who Your Friends Are", which can be found on Lawrence's album For the Love. The official single version, featuring only Lawrence's vocals, was released in August 2006, but did not reach the Top 40 on the country charts until January 2007, when For the Love was released. After the album's release, the version with McGraw and Chesney began receiving significant airplay, helping to boost the single to #1 on the country charts. The song became Lawrence's first #1 single in 11 years, as well as the second-slowest climbing #1 single in the history of the Billboard music charts.
Chesney also co-wrote Rascal Flatts' 2007 single along with Neil Thrasher and Wendell Mobley, "Take Me There", which served as the lead-off single to their album Still Feels Good.[10]
Chesney also recorded a duet with Reba McEntire on her #1 2007 album, Reba: Duets. "Every Other Weekend" peaked at #15 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart and #104 on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart. The album has sold 2.1 million copies world-wide and is certified Platinum by the RIAA for sales of over 1 million. "Every Other Weekend" was the final single from the album.
On November 7, 2007 Chesney was named the CMA Entertainer of the Year for the third time in four years. The following week, on November 15, 2007, the compilation Super Hits album was released as part of Sony BMG's Super Hits series.
On September 11, 2007, Chesney released the album Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates. The album represented a move to a more gulf and western sound with a number of "breezy, steel-drum island songs."[11] Kanye West's album Graduation, as well as 50 Cent's album Curtis, were released on the same day. Kanye West and 50 Cent were in the midst of a competitive sales war, with 50 Cent claiming he would end his solo rap career if West sold more albums than he did (remarks he later retracted as terms with of contract conflicted with the promise). Kenny Chesney, however, decided he would give country music a place in the competition, claiming country artists were just as popular as rap artists. Chesney came in third place in the number of record sales between the three musical artists.
The album's lead-off single, "Never Wanted Nothing More", became Chesney's 12th song to hit the top of the Billboard country charts.[12] On the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart dated for the week ending September 15, 2007, Chesney's single "Don't Blink" debuted at #16, setting a new record for the highest debut on that chart since the inception of SoundScan electronic tabulation in 1990.[13] This record was broken one week later by Garth Brooks' song "More Than a Memory", which debuted at #1 on the same chart, making it the first song ever to do so. The third single from Just Who I Am album, "Shiftwork", a duet with George Strait peaked at #2 on the Billboard country chart. During the week of June 28, 2008, the fourth single, "Better as a Memory", became Chesney's 14th single to hit the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
Chesney started his Poets and Pirates Tour on April 26, 2008 at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina. During the introduction of his set, his boot was caught between a hydraulic lift and the lip of the stage surface, crushing his foot and causing a severe hematoma from the ankle down, with most of the damage centering in his toes. It took approximately 30 seconds to pry his foot loose as he squatted down on the stage while the band continued to play an extended introduction of the song. When Chesney finally freed himself, he stood up and kept holding his hand on his knee as he began to sing.
Chesney did not acknowledge the injury during the early part of his performance. However, he was visibly limping and seemed to rest near a drum riser while leaning over and holding his knee during the instrumental breaks of his hit songs. As he came offstage, a doctor from the University of South Carolina cut off Chesney’s cowboy boot and immediately began treating the foot injury. X-rays taken later revealed several crushed bones in his right foot.
The injury did not cause him to postpone any shows, saying "He (the doctor) told me it's going to hurt – though nothing could hurt worse than Saturday, I don't think – and they can give me something to deaden the pain when I get out there. I also have to have a doctor standing by should something give, but I'm going to tape it up, and I'm going to get out there."[14]
On May 19, 2008, just a day after being honored as the ACM Entertainer of the Year at the 43rd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, Chesney criticized the lack of choice in the producers' awarding the honor based on fan votes. "The entertainer of the year trophy is supposed to represent heart and passion and an amazing amount of sacrifice, commitment and focus," he said. "That's the way Garth [Brooks] won it four times, that's the way I won it, that's the way [George] Strait won it, Reba [McEntire], Alabama all those years. That's what it's supposed to represent."[15]
On July 24, 2008, Chesney announced that he would be releasing a new single from an upcoming album entitled Lucky Old Sun. The song was titled "Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven", and for the chart week of August 16, 2008, it debuted at #22 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. The album was released on October 14, 2008.[16] "Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven" became a #1 hit. It was followed by a cover of Mac McAnally's 1990 single "Down the Road".
Chesney's 2009 tour was titled the Sun City Carnival Tour and featured both small and large venues in order to keep his ticket prices down.[17] The tour included a performance at Gillette Stadium again, marking the fifth year in a row that he played at the Foxboro, Massachusetts football field.[18]
On May 19, 2010, Greatest Hits II was released with two new tracks. In February, "Ain't Back Yet" was sent to country music radio stations. The #1 hit "Out Last Night" was the lead single.
In July 2010, Chesney released "The Boys of Fall" as the lead-off single from his album Hemingway's Whiskey, which was released in September 2010. The song hit #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart for the week of October 9, 2010, marking Chesney's eighteenth number one hit.
He then appeared at the 44th Annual Country Music Awards on November 10, 2010.[19]
The second single from Hemingway's Whiskey, "Somewhere with You", was released in November 2010. The song debuted at #35 on the country chart for the week of November 6, 2010. It then hit #1 in January 2011.
Chesney produced and narrated a biographical film, The Color Orange, on his favorite football player growing up, University of Tennessee quarterback and Canadian Football League hall-of-fame Condredge Holloway. The film was produced for ESPN's "Year of the Quarterback" series, and premiered on February 20, 2011.
Chesney is scheduled to release his thirteenth studio album, Welcome to the Fishbowl, on June 19, 2012.[20] Its lead-off single, a Tim McGraw duet titled "Feel Like a Rock Star", debuted at number 13 on the country charts, making it the second-highest debuting country song since the Billboard charts were first tabulated via Nielsen SoundScan, and the highest-debuting duet on that chart.[21]
Chesney owns a 60' Sea Ray yacht and also has a home in the U.S. Virgin Islands. He spends time in the Caribbean and includes island-themed songs in some of his work, such as those on his 2005 album Be As You Are.
On May 9, 2005, Kenny Chesney married actress Renee Zellweger in a ceremony on the island of St. John. They had met in January at a tsunami relief benefit concert. On September 15 of that same year, after only four months of marriage, they announced their plans for an annulment. Zellweger cited fraud as the reason in the related papers leading to rumors that Chesney might be homosexual. After media scrutiny of her use of the word "fraud", she qualified the use of the term, stating it was "simply legal language and not a reflection of Kenny's character" while Chesney refuted the rumors, affirming that he is straight.[22] Chesney later suggested the failure of his marriage was due to "panic" from the intense media scrutiny surrounding it.[23] In an interview by 60 Minutes with Anderson Cooper, Chesney commented on the failed marriage. "The only fraud that was committed was me thinking that I knew what it was like…that I really understood what it was like to be married, and I really didn't."[24] The annulment was finalized in late December 2005.
Kenny Chesney's family still resides in east Tennessee.
Chesney's most recent charity work includes working with the V Foundation. Founded by the late Jim Valvano, the V Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to saving lives by helping to find a cure for cancer. Valvano, former coach of the North Carolina State Wolfpack Basketball team, died on April 28, 1993 following a year-long battle with cancer.
In 1998, Chesney recorded a limited-edition single titled "Touchdown Tennessee". The single was a tribute to John Ward, a former broadcaster for the University of Tennessee Volunteers' football team; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the John Ward Scholarship Fund.Born in lutrell TN, a very small town.
Chesney has won the Billboard Touring Award for Top Package Tour four consecutive years between 2005 and 2008.[25]

Carly Rae Jepsen (born November 21, 1985) is a Canadian recording artist and singer-songwriter from Mission, British Columbia. In 2007, she placed third in the fifth season of Canadian Idol, and was a part of the Canadian Idol Top 3 concert tour.[1]
Shortly after competing on Idol, she signed to Fontana and MapleMusic, and released her debut album, Tug of War, on September 30, 2008. Three years later, she released a new single, entitled "Call Me Maybe", which was released by 604 Records, and was followed by the release of her debut extended play, Curiosity, on February 14, 2012. "Call Me Maybe" was met with much success, reaching the Top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reaching the number 1 spot on the Canadian Hot 100. The single also went to number 1 in Australia, Ireland and the United Kingdom. Jepsen signed with Interscope Records in 2012.

Jepsen attended Heritage Park Secondary School in Mission, British Columbia and has since performed there post-graduation. She later attended the Canadian College of Performing Arts in Victoria, BC before auditioning for Canadian Idol. After completing the Canadian Idol tour, Jepsen retreated to B.C. to focus on writing, recording and completing her band. Her demos attracted attention and she was eventually signed a joint management deal with Simkin Artist Management and Dexter Entertainment. A deal with Fontana/Maple Music quickly followed, leading Jepsen into the studio with producer/writer Ryan Stewart.[2]
On June 16, 2008, Jepsen released her debut single and another single, a cover of John Denver's song "Sunshine On My Shoulders". It is the only cover song on her debut album.[3] On July 21, 2008, Jepsen added two new songs from the album to her MySpace page: "Bucket" and "Heavy Lifting". In August 2008, Jepsen's MySpace page announced that the album's title would be Tug of War, and it was released on September 30, 2008. The page also mentioned two more songs that were included on the album: "Tug of War" and "Sweet Talker". The former was released as a single on iTunes on September 16, 2008, and has been receiving radio airplay on various stations across Canada. She performed the latter as her Canadian Idol audition.[4]
A music video for "Tug of War" was released in January 2009. "Bucket", her second single, was released in May 2009, and the video for "Sour Candy", a duet with Josh Ramsay of Marianas Trench who has also help produce some of her songs including Call Me Maybe, has also been released. All of Jepsen's music videos have been directed by Ben Knechtel. In spring 2009, she toured western Canada with Marianas Trench and Shiloh.[5] She then went on a cross-Canada tour with Marianas Trench, The New Cities and Mission District.
Jepsen's second album Curiosity was released on February 14, 2012. It was produced by Ryan Stewart and Kevin James Maher produced the track "Dear Julien". On the same day as the release, Justin Bieber made the announcement on the MuchMusic program New Music Live that Jepsen has been signed to Schoolboy Records, the label run by Justin Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun.[6] The lead single, "Call Me Maybe" (which gained notoriety after "Primetime" Sam Roberts played the track during "After Opie and Anthony Live" on SiriusXM Satellite Radio) is from her second studio album Curiosity was released on September 21, 2011 and was produced by Josh Ramsay of Marianas Trench and co-written by Jepsen, Ramsay and Tavish Crowe. "Call Me Maybe" is the first song by a Canadian artist to reach the top of the digital chart since Justin Bieber's “Baby” in January 2010. It is also only the 11th song by a Canadian artist to reach No. 1 on the Digital Songs chart since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking digital download sales in 2005. The song has also peaked at #1 on Billboard's Canadian Hot 100, being the 4th Canadian artist to do so, after Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend", Nikki Yanofsky's "I Believe", and the Young Artists for Haiti version of "Wavin' Flag", originally by Canadian rapper K'naan.[7] Jepsen is currently touring on the Shout it Out World Tour. She is the opening act for the pop-rock trio Hanson. In February 2012, Jepsen visited Justin Bieber and Scooter Braun in Los Angeles, California, where she subsequently signed to Schoolboy Records and Interscope. Her music will still be distributed by 604 Records in Canada. On March 23, 2012, Jepsen made her first American television debut on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, performing "Call Me Maybe" (with Jared Manierka on keys), later joined by Justin Bieber. Carly was also the first Canadian Idol contestant to enter the UK charts, when Call Me Maybe debuted at #1. Carly played at Citywalk at Universal Studios on April 14 2012. 400 people who paid $5 were allowed to meet with the singer and get CDs autographed by her.
Jepsen, 26, has been criticized in the press for dressing "too young" for her age in an effort to appeal to the pre-teen demographic.[8][9]
On May 20th, 2012 Jepsen performed "Call Me Maybe" at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards. On May 22th, 2012 she performed "Tug of War", "Curiosity", and "Call Me Maybe" at the first Q102 Springle Ball concert.

Draco Cornelius Rosa Suárez (born June 27, 1970), also known as Robi Draco Rosa, Robby Rosa, Draco Rosa or simply Draco, is a Puerto Rican Grammy Award and Latin Grammy Award winning musician, dancer, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer and actor.
Born as Robert Edward Rosa Suárez on Long Island, New York and raised in Peñuelas, Puerto Rico and Ponce, Puerto Rico, he originally garnered fame as a member of boy band Menudo in the 1980s. In recent years, he has appeared on VH1's Behind the Music, I Love the '80s and Where Are They Now? in archived footage of early concerts and videos. He has released four concept albums, consisting of "Vagabundo", "Mad Love", "Vino" and "Amor Vincit Omnia". He studied on 9th grade on Colegio San Conrado and graduated from Academia Santa Maria, both in Ponce.

Rosa's early interest in music led him to audition for the Latin pop boy band, Menudo, where he replaced Johnny Lozada in 1984 and quickly became a fan favorite. He was the second band member to join the singing group who was not a native of Puerto Rico (Miguel Cancel was born in Illinois). He was also the first member who spoke English fluently, having been born in New York. With the group's cross-over to English, his timing in joining Menudo was perfect, as he was able to sing most of the English songs. The group's first English album Reaching Out, featured a single which was in the Hollywood film Cannonball Run 2, "Like A Cannonball." Rosa sang the single.
On his second album with the group, he sang his first Spanish-language single hit, "Sabes A Chocolate" ("You taste like chocolate"). His third album with Menudo featured another English hit with "Hold Me", which gained airplay on most mainstream radio stations and had a music video that gained play. In 1987, he was replaced in Menudo by Rubén Gómez after the band's manager denied Rosa the opportunity to contribute songs to the group. Rosa was also 17 years old when he quit, 1 year over the age limit set by management.
Rosa has been highly influenced by the works of Bob Dylan, Miles Davis, Iggy Pop, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash, Luis Alberto Spinetta, The Doors, Camarón de la Isla, Caetano Veloso and Glenn Danzig. In 1996 he released the Latino alternative rock CD Vagabundo produced by Phil Manzanera.
He helped launch Ricky Martin's musical career into a new global setting by writing and producing some of his hottest singles including "Livin' la Vida Loca" and "She Bangs". Rosa toured with Lenny Kravitz during the summer of 2004 to promote his 2nd (all English) concept album Mad Love.[citation needed]
In 1988 he starred in his only Motion Picture role in the movie "Salsa: The Motion Picture" which was a big hit in Puerto Rico, and made $8,892,589 and is still a popular movie today.
His 2008 album Vino is filled with Dark Ambient electronica and Alternative Rock melodrama.
His 2009 album Amor Vincit Omnia was nominated for Best Latin Rock, Alternative Or Urban Album for the 53rd Grammy Awards.[1]
On December 2011, it was announced that Rosa was working on a new musical project involving other artists, an album of duet songs. Alejandro Sanz publicly announced through Twitter his collaboration with Tommy Torres and other artists on a new CD produced by Phantom Vox and Draco himself. The new musical project consists of an all-star album in which artists, chosen by Draco Rosa, will sing duets with him of some of his confirmed famous hits like Vagabundo, Cruzando Puertas and Penélope. Angelo Medina, producer, manager and close personal friend of Draco's confirmed this to the local press. Juan Luis Guerra, Rubén Blades and Enrique Bunbury also confirmed to participate.[2] At the time, other artists rumored to participate included Ricky Martin, Juanes and Calle 13.[3] On March 12, 2012, it was confirmed that Blades will cover El Tiempo Va and Guerra will cover Esto Es Vida, both songs from Draco's 2009 album Amor Vincit Omnia.[4]
On May 11, 2012, the full set of collaborations was released to the press. So far, this is not the official order of the tracklist.[5]
The new musical project marks the first time Ricky Martin and Draco collaborated together after nearly 12 since Martin's Sound Loaded.
On January 28, 2012, it was confirmed that Draco would make a comeback, after his long absence due to cancer treatment, with a concert sharing the stage with Juan Luis Guerra and Rubén Blades. The concert will take place on March 30, 2012 at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot. Last time the three collaborated was nearly ten years before in the Banco Popular Christmas special Encuentro in 2002.[6] Angelo Medina, producer of the event, announced on February 24, 2012, that the concert was quickly sold-out and a second concert was added for March 31.[7]
Both concerts premiered two of the multiple the collaborations planned for Draco's next album. Guerra joined Draco in Esto Es Vida and then Blades with El Tiempo Va alongside Draco. Both shows were such big hits that it is rumored two concerts will be programmed to take place in Dominican Republic and Panama, home places of Juan Luis Guerra and Rubén Blades respectively.
Rosa currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife Angela Alvarado and two sons, Revel Angel and Redamo. He owns a recording studio, an independent music label and a multimedia company under the name of Phantom Vox and a private hacienda in Utuado, Puerto Rico under the name Hacienda Horizonte, where he has shot two music videos of his Amor Vincit Omnia album: Hay Que Llegar (Paraíso Prometido), and Reza Por Mí.
On April 25, 2011, Rosa was diagnosed with stomach cancer: a non-Hodgkin lymphoma in his lower abdomen, near his liver.[8]
Rosa has also contributed towards the improvement of artistic and cultural life in Puerto Rico, sponsoring the Museum of Art and Museum of Contemporary Art, and setting up an annual scholarship for outstanding students at the Music Conservatory.

Enrique "Ricky" Martín Morales (born December 24, 1971), better known as Ricky Martin, is a Puerto Rican[1] pop singer and actor who achieved prominence, first as a member of the Puerto Rican boy band Menudo, then as a solo artist since 1991. Throughout his career, he has sold more than 60 million albums worldwide.[2] He is the founder of the Ricky Martin Foundation (in Spanish Fundación Ricky Martin), a non-profit charity organization aimed at human trafficking.
Martin got his start at age twelve with the all-boy pop group Menudo; after five years with the group, he released his Spanish-language solo album, Ricky Martin, in 1991. He also acted on stage and on TV in Mexico, becoming a modest star in the country. In 1994 he starred on the American TV soap opera General Hospital, playing a Puerto Rican singer. In 1999, after several albums in Spanish, he released his first English-language album (also titled Ricky Martin), which included "Livin' la Vida Loca". The album sold 22 million copies and brought Martin international fame.[3] His other studio albums include: Me Amarás (1993), A Medio Vivir (1995), Vuelve (1998), Sound Loaded (2000), Almas del Silencio (2003), Life (2005), and Música + Alma + Sexo (2011).
On the edge of the new millennium, Martin—almost by himself—gave Latino music an international face. An acclaimed performance at the 1999 Grammy Awards launched Martin into worldwide super-stardom. As Entertainment Weekly's Andrew Essex reported, "his leather-pants, electro-pelvis version of 'La Copa de la Vida' single-handedly goosed a very dull [Grammy] telecast, earning him a standing ovation." In 2010, Martin announced that he was a "fortunate homosexual man", ending years of fan speculation on the topic. His twin sons, Matteo and Valentino, were born via a surrogate mother in 2008. Martin also co-owns a Miami restaurant, Casa Salsa, and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2007. On November 4, 2011, Ricky Martin was granted Spanish citizenship for his artistic merits and for his grandmother being Iberian born. Martin currently stars as Che in the Broadway revival of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Evita.

Martin was born on December 24, 1971, in San Juan, Puerto Rico,[4] the son of Nereida Morales, an accountant, and Enrique Martín Negroni, a psychologist. His parents divorced when he was two; his father remarried. Martin has two maternal half-brothers, Fernando and Ángel Fernández, and two paternal half-brothers, Eric and Daniel Martín, and a paternal half-sister Vanessa Martín.[5] Martin grew up in a Roman Catholic home and was an altar boy until he joined Menudo.[6] Martin has Spanish ancestry through his grandmother who was born in Spain[7] and some Corsican ancestry as his paternal fourth great-grandfathers were born in Rogliano, Cap Corse, Corsica, and Vilanova i la Geltrú, Catalonia (Spain).[8][9]
Ricky Martin was a member of Puerto Rican boy band Menudo between 1984 and 1989. After completing high school, Martin left San Juan and moved to New York City. Later, Martin moved to Mexico City where he attended the national school of space. He played lead role in a 1989 musical-theatre release named Mis Tennis Rojos (My Red Tennis Shoes) next to Angélica Vale and then followed another theater production Mama Ama el Rock (Mom Loves Rock).
In 1991, Ricky Martin participated in a telenovela titled Alcanzar una estrella II next to Sasha Sokol. Out of this soap opera a musical group was formed named Muñecos de Papel in which he was one of the six members; they toured several cities in Mexico and recorded two albums. His main single was "Juego de Ajedrez". A film based on the TV series was also produced in which Martin played Pablo, earning a Heraldo Award in 1993.
While acting in Mexico, Martin was signed to Sony Discos, the Sony Music Entertainment's Latin imprint, in 1990. He released his first solo album, the Spanish-language Ricky Martin, in November 1991, which included the hit singles: "Fuego Contra Fuego" and "El Amor de Mi Vida". Later, Ricky Martin performed a string of sold-out concert dates across South America.
In May 1993, Martin released his second solo album, Me Amarás, which featured a Spanish-language cover of the Laura Branigan song "Self Control", titled "Que Dia Es Hoy".
Martin moved to Los Angeles, California in 1994 and landed a role as bartender and singer Miguel Morez in the American soap opera General Hospital.
In 1995, Martin refocused on his music career, and his third album, A Medio Vivir, became an international breakthrough. With this album, Martin made a shift from formulaic hit ballads to a more risky fusion of music centered around traditional Latin sounds, epitomized by the hit "Maria". The song broke Martin into Europe via Spain.[10] "Maria" went to number one in France, Belgium Wallonia and Australia, and reached the top ten in most European countries; it even charted on the US Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number eighty-eight.[11] With the ballad "Te Extraño, Te Olvido, Te Amo", Martin furthered his expansion from Latin American and Spanish-speaking audiences to the European and Asian markets.[12] The album has sold over 3 million copies worldwide.
After the conclusion of a worldwide tour, Martin returned to New York to appear in a Broadway theatre production for the first time, joining the cast of the hit musical Les Misérables to play the romantic lead, Marius Pontmercy.
While on Broadway, Martin returned to the studio and recorded his fourth album, Vuelve (1998). The title track and the ballad "Perdido Sin Tí" both hit number one on the Hot Latin Songs. The album's pinnacle, however, was "La Copa de la Vida", which Martin made a major hit in an English version when he was chosen to sing the anthem of the 1998 FIFA World Cup. "La Copa de la Vida" reached number one on the charts around the world and went gold and platinum in various countries. It was awarded Pop Song of the Year at the 1999 Lo Nuestro Awards.[13] Further singles included: "La Bomba", "Por Arriba, Por Abajo" and "Corazonado". Vuelve spent twenty-six weeks at number one on the Billboard Top Latin Albums. It became Martin's first top forty album on the Billboard 200 in the United States, where it was certified platinum by the RIAA. The album also went to number one in Spain and Norway, and sold over eight million copies worldwide.[14]
Martin was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album for Vuelve, and was booked to sing on the 41st Grammy Awards live TV broadcast. The now-legendary performance of "The Cup of Life" stopped the show, earning Martin an unexpected standing ovation and introducing the star to the mainstream American audience.[15][16] Martin capped off the evening by winning the Grammy Award.
After several years as a major star in Spanish-speaking countries, Martin prepared his first English album in 1999. The self-titled album contained material by writers and producers such as Desmond Child, Diane Warren, William Orbit, George Noriega and his longtime childhood friend Draco Rosa. The album also featured special guests: Madonna on the Spanish-English duet "Be Careful (Cuidado con mi Corazón)" and Meja on "Private Emotion".
The first and most prominent single was "Livin' la Vida Loca", which reached number one in many countries around the world, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand. It was followed by "She's All I Ever Had" which peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100. Both tracks peaked at number one on the Hot Latin Songs. "Livin' la Vida Loca" is generally seen as the song that began the Latin pop explosion of 1999 and made the transition of other Latin artists (first Jennifer Lopez and Enrique Iglesias, then later Shakira) into the English-speaking market easier. Ricky Martin became one of the top-selling albums of 1999, and was certified 7× platinum in the United States, selling over 22 million copies worldwide. In October 1999, Martin embarked on a very successful year-long Livin' la Vida Loca Tour.
After this success, a new English-language album, Sound Loaded, was released in November 2000. It debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 and was certified 2× platinum by the RIAA. "She Bangs" and "Nobody Wants to Be Lonely" (duet with Christina Aguilera) peaked at number twelve and thirteen on the Billboard Hot 100, respectively. Both singles reached number one on the Hot Latin Songs. Sound Loaded has sold over 8 million copies worldwide.
In February 2001, Martin released a Spanish greatest hits album entitled La Historia, which went to number one for five weeks on the Billboard Top Latin Albums and debuted at number eighty-three on the Billboard 200. It also topped the chart in Sweden for three weeks. The album contained reworkings of two of his early songs "Fuego Contra Fuego" and "El Amor de Mi Vida". In November 2001, an English-language greatest hits album, The Best of Ricky Martin was released outside North America. It contained two new remixes of "Amor".
In May 2003, Martin released a new Spanish album Almas del Silencio. The first single, "Tal Vez", debuted at number one on the Hot Latin Songs and stayed there for eleven weeks. Martin said of the new album: "I really needed to go back to focus, to my center, to the beginning. I had the need to search within, and really dig deep, and find those emotions that, because of the adrenaline and the euphoria that I lived for a couple of years, were probably sabotaged."[17] Almas del Silencio debuted at number twelve on the Billboard 200 and reached number one on the Billboard Top Latin Albums where it stayed for six weeks. The album sold more than one million copies worldwide.[18] The next singles, "Jaleo" and "Y Todo Queda en Nada", reached number one on the Hot Latin Songs. "Jaleo" also topped the chart in Spain for four weeks.
In October 2005, Martin released his first English-language album since 2000's Sound Loaded and the tenth album of his career. Most of the songs on the album, called Life, were co-written by Martin. He commented on the album: "I was really in touch with my emotions. I think this album is very multi-layered, just like life is. It's about feeling anger. It's about feeling joy. It's about feeling uncertainty. It's about feeling. And all my emotions are part of this production."[19] The album debuted at number six on the Billboard 200. The first single from the album, "I Don't Care", featured guest appearances by Fat Joe and Amerie. It peaked at number three on the Hot Dance Club Songs and number sixty-five on the Billboard Hot 100. Another song from the album, "It's Alright" was re-recorded as a duet with French singer M. Pokora. It was successful in French-speaking countries, reaching number four in France.
Soon after, Martin announced his One Night Only with Ricky Martin tour. Starting in Mexico City, the tour premiered on November 15, 2005. After finishing the first leg which included Latin America and the United States, Martin performed at the 2006 Winter Olympics closing ceremony in Turin. A few days later, he announced the second leg of his world tour, which included Europe and Africa. The second leg started on April 21, 2006 in Manchester, UK, and ended on June 3, 2006 in Tel Aviv, Israel.
On August 17, 2006, Ricky Martin taped his MTV Unplugged concert in Miami. It premiered on MTV Latin America, MTV Tr3s and MTV Puerto Rico in October 2006 and was released on CD and DVD in November 2006. The album was a critical and commercial success. It debuted at number one on the Billboard Top Latin Albums and number thirty-eight on the Billboard 200. At the Latin Grammy Awards of 2008, MTV Unplugged received Latin Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Album and for Best Long Form Music Video. The first single, "Tu Recuerdo" which featured La Mari of Chambao, reached number one for three weeks on the Hot Latin Songs. The next single, "Pégate" peaked at number six on the Hot Dance Club Songs.
On February 19, 2007, Martin began his worldwide Black and White Tour[20] which started with a performance at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in Puerto Rico and concluded with a presentation at the Madison Square Garden in New York City on October 14, 2007.[20] He also recorded a duet with Eros Ramazzotti, "Non siamo soli" which topped the Italian chart for eleven consecutive weeks.
After finishing his worldwide tour, Martin took a break from the music industry and focused on his private life. In November 2007, Sony BMG Norte released Ricky Martin Live: Black and White Tour on CD, DVD and Blu-ray Disc. One year later, a Spanish-language greatest hits album was released, entitled 17. It was a summary of seventeen years of Martin's musical career, which included mostly Spanish-language songs.
Ricky Martin's autobiography, Me, was published on November 2, 2010. The book became The New York Times Best Seller list,[21] debuting at number five on the Hardcover Nonfiction list. A Spanish-language edition entitled Yo was published simultaneously.
Martin's single, "The Best Thing About Me Is You" featuring Joss Stone also premiered on November 2, 2010 and peaked at number seventy-four on the Billboard Hot 100. The Spanish version, "Lo Mejor de Mi Vida Eres Tú" topped the Hot Latin Songs for two weeks. It was followed by a new studio album, Música + Alma + Sexo released on January 31, 2011.[22] It debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 and became the highest charting, primarily-Spanish language album in the United States, since Dreaming of You by Selena.[23] Música + Alma + Sexo also represents the highest ever chart debut on the Billboard 200 for a Sony Music Latin release.[24] It spent two weeks at number one on the Billboard Top Latin Albums. On March 25, 2011, Martin started his Música + Alma + Sexo World Tour, which ended on November 12, 2011. The second single from the album, "Más" was released on April 5, 2011 and peaked at number seven on the Hot Dance Club Songs. "Frío" featuring Wisin & Yandel was chosen as the third single.
17: Greatest Hits was released on July 11, 2011 exclusively in the United Kingdom. Ricky Martin will be playing Ché in the Broadway revival of the show Evita, scheduled to begin previews on Broadway in March 2012, ahead of an opening in April 2012.[25] He received mixed reviews.
Ricky Martin guest-starred as a Spanish teacher on the FOX TV show Glee episode "The Spanish Teacher" on February 7, 2012.[26] Martin premiered his "Ricky's Lip Conditionioner" lip balm in April 2012 as part of the M.A.C Cosmetics "Ricky and Nicki for Viva Glam" campaign. The advertisements for the range paired him with rapper Nicki Minaj. Martin's signature is featured on the lip balm packaging.[27]
In the past Martin stated he was in love with Mexican TV host Rebecca de Alba, with whom he had an on-again off-again relationship for over 14 years. They even talked of starting a family together,[28][29][30] and at one point Martin planned on proposing.[31] However with the release of Life in 2005, Martin confirmed he and De Alba had parted ways.[32][33]
In August 2008, Martin became the father of twin boys, Matteo and Valentino. The babies were birthed by a surrogate mother.[34]
After the success of "Livin' la Vida Loca", Martin's personal life became a subject of interest due to his large gay following, and he was questioned about his sexual orientation. In a December 2000 interview with The Mirror, Martin was asked to comment on the rumors surrounding his sexuality. He replied that "I don't think I should have to tell anyone if I am gay or not, or who I've slept with or not."[35][36] On March 29, 2010, Martin publicly acknowledged his homosexuality in a post on his official website stating, "I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am."[37][38] Martin said that "these years in silence and reflection made me stronger and reminded me that acceptance has to come from within, and that this kind of truth gives me the power to conquer emotions I didn't even know existed."[39] In 2010, prior to Martin coming out, Barbara Walters expressed some regret for pushing Martin in a 2000 interview to admit if he was gay. The Toronto Star quoted her as saying, "When I think back on it now, I feel it was an inappropriate question."[40][41]
Martin announced on The Oprah Winfrey Show that he was in a relationship.[42] In 2011, during his acceptance speech of the Vito Russo Award at the 22nd GLAAD Media Awards, Martin publicly thanked his boyfriend, Carlos González Abella, an economist.[43][44] Martin has also expressed support for same-sex marriage in an interview on Larry King Live, and commented on his experience of being closeted and coming out. "Everything about saying that I am gay feels right...", Martin stated, adding "if I’d known how good it was going to feel, I would have done it ten years ago."[45]
Martin was raised Catholic, but says he is open to all sorts of religious beliefs, especially the Buddhist philosophy, although he does not identify as a Buddhist.[46]
On November 4, 2011, he acquired Spanish nationality in recognition of his artistic talents and for having roots in the country-Martin's grandmother is Spanish, and he owns a residence in Madrid. As a Spanish citizen he can now marry his boyfriend in Spain. Although he could also marry in some states of the United States, Martin wishes to marry in Spain to recognize the efforts of Spanish Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero in defense of LGBT rights.[47] [48] On September 9, 2011 he sold his home in Miami for $6.3 million that he had bought in 2007 for $16.5 million.[49] He was married to his partner in a New York ceremony on January 28, 2012.[50][51] In a public statement, written in Spanish, Martin explicitly stated that he has not abandoned his Puerto Ricaness: "I was born in Puerto Rico, I am a Puerto Rican, and that (Puerto Rico) is my country. Spain is a country that conjures up many sentiments for me due to my ancestral roots, and the strong love the country has given me since I first visited."[citation needed]
Martin is the founder of Fundación Ricky Martin (Ricky Martin Foundation), a non-profit organization. Among the events promoted by the foundation was a summer camp, which included Martin's personal participation.[52]
Martin has been honored with many accolades for his humanitarian efforts including: Leadership in the Arts Award, Billboard's Spirit of Hope Award, ALMA Award, Vanguard Award, International Humanitarian Award by the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children, Hispanic Heritage Award for his humanitarian work through the Sabera Foundation in rescuing three orphan girls from the streets of Kolkata (September 2002).
Martin has also collaborated with the International Organization for Migration on the Llama y Vive (Call and Live), a campaign which is aimed to facilitate prevention of human trafficking, protection of the youngest victims of child trafficking, and prosecution of the traffickers. For his work against human trafficking, the United States Department of State named Martin one of its Heroes in Ending Modern-Day Slavery in 2005.
Martin was a headliner in the 2001 inauguration ball for President George W. Bush; he even invited the newly elected president to join him on stage to dance. This image was captured by photographers and broadcast in various media throughout the world. Martin referred to it in a later song, "Asignatura Pendiente".
Martin has since changed his position on the former President. In a concert in Puerto Rico during the song Asignatura Pendiente Martin thrust his middle finger disapprovingly in the air while singing the line "photo with Bush". The gesture met with audience approval but caused a minor controversy with the media. Martin said in an e-mail statement sent to the Associated Press via a spokesman: "My convictions of peace and life go beyond any government and political agenda and as long as I have a voice onstage and offstage, I will always condemn war and those who promulgate it".[53]
