Travel To Petra in the Arabah, Petra is a site in the Arabah, Jordan that was discovered by a Swiss explorer called Johann Ludwig Burckhardt in 1812 and is considered to be, yet another splendid beauty in the history of mankind. Arabah is a section of the Great Rift Valley and it is located between the Dead Sea (north) and the Gulf of Aqaba (south) forming part of the border between Jordan (east) and Israel (west). Petra temples, مدرج البتراء , Jordan
( video 2007, Petra temples, Jordan). Petra (from URU $e-eh-{la}[-li].KI in Akkadian, "petra-πέτρα", cleft in the rock in Greek; Arabic: البتراء, Al-Batrāʾ) is an archaeological site in the Arabah, Ma'an Governorate, Jordan, lying on the slope of Mount Hor[1] in a basin among the mountains which form the eastern flank of Arabah (Wadi Araba), the large valley running from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba. It is renowned for its rock-cut architecture. Petra is also one of the new wonders of the world. The Nabateans constructed it as their capital city around 100 BCE. The site remained unknown to the Western world until 1812, when it was introduced to the West by Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt. It was famously described as "a rose-red city half as old as time" in a Newdigate prize-winning sonnet by John William Burgon. UNESCO has described it as "one of the most precious cultural properties of man's cultural heritage. In 1985, Petra was designated a World Heritage Site.

" Petra " by Paul Lawler and Paul Speer
I have the great pleasure and honour to present Petra, again a magnificent and fascinating soundscape out of the new album "Wonders". Wonders is composed and performed by critically acclaimed musicians Paul Lawler from the UK and Paul Speer from the USA. Wonders is a musical journey to awe inspiring places on Planet Earth. Please see Paul Speer's channel for more information: www.youtube.com or go to: www.paulspeer.com. I can't tell how much I'm enjoying to do the videos to your fantastic music! My very special thanks and sincere appreciation to Paul Speer and to Paul Lawler for this exciting collaboration! Petra is the treasure of ancient world, hidden behind an almost impenetrable barrier of rugged mountains, boasting incomparable scenes that make it the most majestic and imposing ancient site still-standing nowadays.. It has been said "perhaps there is nothing in the world that resembles it", actually, for sure, there is nothing in the world that resembles it. The rock-carved rose-red city of Petra is full of mysterious charm, it was "designed to strike wonder into all who entered it". Petra (Greek "πέτρα", meaning rock; Arabic: البتراء, Al-Batrā) is an archaeological site in the Arabah, Ma'an Governorate, Jordan, lying on the slope of Mount Hor in a basin among the mountains which form the eastern flank of Arabah (Wadi Araba), the large valley running from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba. Jordan's ties with Israel turn cold - 26 Oct 09
Jordan and Israel mark 15 years of peace today, but ties between both countries are cooler than ever. Since the right-wing Israeli government of Binyamin Netanyahu took office in May, Jordan has been left further disappointed with its neighbour - saying they are the ones sacrificing more than they are getting from an agreement with Israel. It has been 15 years since Jordan became the only Arab nation, other than Egypt, to normalise ties with Israel. Pushed by the United States the two warring nations signed the historical Wadi Arabah Peace treaty (or the Camp David peace accord) on October 26, 1994. The treaty set a border between the two countries on the River Jordan that aimed to fully normalise diplomatic and security relations. In 1996, the US signed an additional trade treaty allowing Jordan to export products to the US duty free if they contained inputs from Israel. US aid to Jordan has grown more than 24 times since the signing of the treaty. But 15 years on, the Jordanian parliament is calling for the treaty to be annulled. Jordan's King says trade is almost non-existant and it is almost impossible for Jordanians to enter Israel. Al Jazeera's Nisreen el-Shamayleh reports from Amman.

البتراء Petra
Petra (Greek "πέτρα" (petra), meaning rock; Arabic: البتراء, Al-Batrāʾ) is a historic and archaeological city in the Jordanian governorate of Ma'an that has rock cut architecture and a water conduits system. Established sometime around the 6th century BC as the capital city of the Nabataeans,[3] it is a symbol of Jordan as well as its most visited tourism attraction.[3] It lies on the slope of Mount Hor[4] in a basin among the mountains which form the eastern flank of Arabah (Wadi Araba), the large valley running from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba. Petra has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985.
