"Operation Condor" Trial Tackles Coordinated Campaign By Latin America Dictatorship killing Leftist!
7.03.2013 Everyone knew... not the americans!??.. We remember, know they r still doing it, all over the world and at home! Justice must be restored, trial them, each one!
MIRROR: Published on Mar 7, 2013 http://www.democracynow.org - A historic trial underway in Argentina is set to reveal new details about how Latin American countries coordinated with each other in the 1970s and '80s to eliminate political dissidents. The campaign known as "Operation Condor" involved military dictatorships in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay. They worked together to track down, kidnap and kill people they labeled as terrorists: leftist activists, labor organizers, students, priests, journalists, guerilla fighters and their families. The campaign was launched by the Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet, and evidence shows the CIA and former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger were complicit from its outset. We're joined by John Dinges, author of "The Condor Years: How Pinochet and his Allies Brought Terrorism to Three Continents." The book brings together interviews and declassified intelligence records to reconstruct the once-secret events.

New Pharaoh? 'Military fascism replaced by Islamofascism in Egypt'
President Morsi has defended the new decree granting him substantial powers. He told his supporters he was leading Egypt on a path to freedom and democracy. But journalist Ahmed Fathi believes military rule in Egypt has simply been replaced by another kind of dictatorship. STORY+ PHOTOS: http://on.rt.com/jz0qvt

REPARATION - brazilian documentary - full version - english subtitles - 2012
A documentary that narrates the seek of justice of a terrorist attack victim during the Military Regime in Brazil's 1960s.
For the first time in Brazil's Cinema trajectory, a feature film shows both sides of a violent time: the Military repression and the extremist terrorism. Reparation is the title of the HD feature documentary that tells the life story of Orlando Lovecchio. In 1968, he
was made victim of a guerilla's bomb terrorist attack, which main objective was to fight against the Military Regime. Orlando lost one leg after the world-reckoned attack against the U.S. Consulate in São Paulo and could no longer pursue his dream of becoming an aircraft pilot.Until now, over 30 years later, he still fights for justice. Not legally considered a "victim of the Military Dictatorship," Orlando earns a lower compensation in comparison with the terrorist's compensation, this one formerly named a "victim" of that time. This unique life story has been highlighted by the Brazilian press for years and years. Upon this, Reparation seeks for a reflexion on the Military Regime, on the violence of the extremist groups from former and current guerillas in Latin America, on the Cuban Dictatorship -- that lasts until today under the complacency of the continent's "democracy" and on the conflictual relationship between the repressive State and
the common citizens. With the testimonials from Brazil's former President
Fernando Henrique Cardoso, Historian Marco Antonio Villa, Journalist Demétrio Magnolli, among others, Reparation wishes to commence an unheard of discussion over the Military times inside Brazil's Cinema context, which has been failing to show both sides of this particular moment, usually in a Manichaean manner, as if History itself was a simple dispute between "good" and "evil." With a frank and open approach, with no political or ideological partiality, Reparation proves to be fully independent as it was not subsidized by any public patronage for its accomplishment. A solid proof that the Brazilian Cinema can be argumentative with technical quality and freedom of thought and aesthetics.

100,000+ on Tahrir: 'US funds military dictatorship in Egypt'
In Egypt, up to a hundred thousand demonstrators have again engulfed Cairo's Tahrir Square to protest against the ruling military council. The rally involves supporters from opposite ends of the political spectrum, with secular activists rubbing shoulders with Islamists - joined in a common cause. For more on this, and the wider picture in Egypt, RT talks to Jacob Hornberger, the President of the Future of Freedom Foundation.

Portugal: 'Screw the Troika' mobilises hundreds of thousands
On Saturday, huge crowds poured into the streets of Lisbon and 20 other Portuguese cities to demand the resignation of the conservative government as it proposed new tax rises to cut back the budget deficit. Demonstrators, organised via the Internet by the activist group 'Screw the Troika', chanted the lyrics of 'Grandola', the song that became the popular hymn of the 1974 Carnation Revolution which brought an end to the military dictatorship in Portugal.
The protests coincided with a quarterly visit by inspectors from the 'Troika' (the International Monetary Fund, the European Commission and the European Central Bank), who called for austerity measures as a condition for the 2011 €78 billion ($101.7) bailout plan. Unemployment in Portugal has reached a record 17.6%, a figure that rises to 40% when considering those jobless and under 25 years of age. The national economy is expected to contract in 2013 by 2% for its third consecutive year of recession.

Chile's collective trauma
During Augusto Pinochet's 18-year rule, thousands of Chileans were murdered or had gone missing. But due to tight censorship, it was a story the country's media failed to expose. Chile returned to democracy in 1990, but the media have been reluctant to touch on the thorny issues of the country's past, until recently. Over the past few months, Chileans have been tuning into a TV drama dealing with the military dictatorship. Los Archivos de Cardinal -- The Cardinal's Archives tells the story of a team of lawyers working with the Catholic church to expose the torture and killings carried out by Pinochet's regime - and it has provoked a fierce debate about the role of public broadcasting, in what remains a deeply polarised society. The series has brought back memories of a collective trauma, revived old political rivalries - and it's also provoked some of the country's most prominent journalists to carry out their own investigation - using the cardinal's original archives to look into the real facts behind the cases dramatised on screen. The Listening Post's Marcela Pizarro takes a look at the slick TV thriller that tells the story the Chilean media has tended to avoid.
