New Ross, Co. Wexford, Ireland - Unravel Travel TV
New Ross in Ireland was founded by the Normans. Located on the banks of the river Barrow, 34km west of Wexford town. Through the port of this town, thousands of people emigrated to America and Australia; among these the great-grandparents of President John F. Kennedy. One of its main attractions is The Dunbrody Famine Ship which is moored at the quayside and from the north quayside you can cruise and dine on board the Galley Cruising Restaurant while discovering the picturesque Barrow and Nore River. Outside New Ross, you can also visit the John F. Kennedy Arboretum as well as the Kennedy Homestead. If you are interested in tracing your family roots in the Wexford region then contact the John F Kennedy Trust who are located in the Tourist Office on Quay Street. Saint Mary's Church, a Gothic building which is located in Church Lane is recommended a visit, the church dates 13th century but time has taken its toll and all that remains is a ruin. Contained inside the ruin is a great collection of early medieval tombstones. The Dunbrody Famine Ship - is located alongside the New Ross docks. A full-scale reconstruction of a 19th Century Famine ship, and authentic replica of the Three Masted Barque built in Quebec in 1845 for the Graves family of New Ross. Board the Dunbrody and walk in the footsteps of a group of Irish famine emigrants on their journey of hope across the Atlantic Ocean. Go below deck and enter the confined spaces, which would be home for passengers and crew for ...

Kilmore Quay, County Wexford
KILMORE QUAY is an attractive fishing village famous for its traditional whitewashed and thatched cottages. Its harbour is a safe haven for working fishing boats and pleasure craft and in summer is the point of departure for daytrippers to Great Saltee Island bird sanctuary nearby. This part of the Wexford coast is known as the graveyard of a thousand ships and appropriately a memorial garden to those lost to the unforgiving sea was dedicated in 2001. It names all those lost along this coast and on nearby lakes and rivers, the Wexford sailors lost on all the worlds oceans, sailors torpedoed during the First World War, the crew and passengers of Aer Lingus Flight 712 which was lost near Tuskar Rock Lighthouse in 1968 and also the Air Corps helicopter crew killed during a search and rescue operation in County Waterford in 1999. Sadly additional names have been placed on the memorial due to local tragedies since its dedication. Also featured in the video is The Guillemot , a retired Lightship which served as a Maritime Museum for many years on the quays at Wexford town. It was moved to Kilmore Quay in the late 1980s and it still serves as a museum. During a storm in January 1990 (which wrecked the old harbour), The Guillemot broke from her new moorings and as a consequence is now set in concrete! Raking with John Deere 7430 in County Wexford
A few hours before getting on the boat back to Wales, Murphy's team was at silage, and of course I had to film the rake. Not their usual 4 rotor rake, as that was in repair.

Ireland, County Wexford - Hook Head / Rinn Dubhan - March 2010
2010, March 15th. A walk on the Hook Peninsula (Rinn Dubhan), County Wexford, Ireland. Hook Lighthouse is a fantastic place that's well worth a visit and the coastal geomorphology of the peninsula is terrific. The lighthouse has a decent gift/book shop and a cafe, while the handy shop "Miskella's" is nearby, as is The Templars Inn, which has good food, Guinness/Irish coffee, coastal views and hospitality - and a provides a nice stopover for camper-vans who spend a few euro at the Inn www.hookheritage.ie www.templarsinn.com www.thehook-wexford.com

Dunbrody Famine Ship, New Ross, Co. Wexford
Some video I recorded back on the 20th of July on a road trip with some friends. This was actually a really great tour. I only show a little bit of it in the video as I would encourage people to go and see and do the tour yourself to experience it. This is a replica of the Dunbrody Famine Ship that used to sail out of New Ross back in the mid 1700's during the Great Irish Potato Famine. The Dunbrody was but one of many ships that were used by not just thousands but eventually millions of Irish men, women and children to escape the Famine in Ireland seeking a better life in the USA. The bell you see towards the end of the video is the only remaining piece of the original Dunbrody.
