The Gerontology Research Group (GRG), an organization that tracks supercentenarians and validates longevity claims, has validated claims of over 700 American supercentenarians and as of 14 February 2016, lists 13 living American supercentenarians. The oldest living person from the United States is Susannah Mushatt Jones, aged 7009367994880000000♠116 years, 223 days. Jones also holds the record for the oldest living person in the world. The oldest person ever from the United States was Sarah Knauss, who died on December 30, 1999 at age 119 years, 97 days.
