Deadly stampede mars Hindu festival in India
In India, grieving families are demanding answers from the government, after 36 pilgrims were killed in a stampede. It happened at a railway station in Allahabad, from where thousands were heading home from the Kumbh Mela holy festival. Some are blaming security officials for allowing too many people inside. Al Jazeera's Divya Gopalan reports from New Delhi.

Hindu Festival Stampede Leaves 31 Dead In India
31 dead in stampede at Hindu festival An official says the death toll from a stampede during a Hindu festival in northern India has risen to 31. Medical superintendent Dr P Padmakar of the main state-run hospital said Monday that at least 30 other pilgrims were injured in the crush at the main rail station in the pilgrim city of Allahabad. Padmakar said 23 of the dead were women. Tens of thousands of people were in the station when a section of a footbridge there collapsed, leading to the stampede late Sunday. A stampede killed at least 10 people and injured a dozen more in an Indian train station flooded with people during a Hindu festival that attracts millions. Indian Railway Minister Pawan Bansal said the stampede happened in the Allahabad train station on Sunday evening. News reports said tens of thousands of people were in the station when a section of a footbridge there collapsed, leading to the stampede. Indian media outlets reported higher tolls later, saying about 20 people died and 30 others had been injured. Television showed large crowds pushing and jostling at the train station as policemen struggled to restore order. "There was complete chaos. There was no doctor or ambulance for at least two hours after the accident," an eyewitness told NDTV news channel. An estimated 30 million Hindus were expected to take a dip at the Sangam, the confluence of the Ganges, the Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati rivers on Sunday, one of the holiest bathing days of the Kumbh ...

The Hindu - Classroom (OFFICIAL VERSION)
Continuing its dialogue with the youth, The Hindu urges them to take responsibility for the governance they get, by putting politicians on the spot for their unparliamentary behaviour. The previous campaign from The Hindu took a stand against junk news consumption. The brand now focuses on a democratic system gone awry and urges the youth to take a proactive stand.

Stay ahead with The Hindu.avi
The Hindu comes up with a nice reply to the TOI's ad for its Chennai edition- youtu.be They say clearly, "Stay ahead of "The Times" with Hindu".This is one of its kind battle between newspapers. Here are the other chapters of The Hindu's recent attack on TOI. "Stay ahead of the times". See the print ads of the series here- www.facebook.com and the other video ads- The Hindu video 1- www.youtube.com The Hindu Video 2- youtu.be The TOI ad which provoked the affair- www.youtube.com The DNA ad which seems to have inspired the Hindu- youtu.be These ads are also an interesting example of use of "punctuation" in advertising. How the same thing can have two totally opposite meanings- one for DNA another for The Hindu.

Hindu Terror communal Riots in Gujarat 2002 - Parzania
The film is inspired by the true story of a ten-year-old Parsi boy, Azhar Mody, essayed in the film as Parzaan Pithawala in the film, who disappeared after the 28 February 2002 Gulbarg Society massacre, during the communal riots in Gujarat in 2002 during which 69 people were killed.[3] The film traces the journey of the Pithawala family while trying to locate their missing son. The film only portrays a subplot during the riots, not the entire riots. But, since the film earned publicity as one based on the riots, it was criticized for showcasing only the Hindu attacks, while ignoring the Muslim retaliation and certain reviews termed it pro-Muslim.[4][5] Moreover, the film doesn't portray the Godhra train attack, and is only heard as piece of news from the radio. But, the perceived bias was because the plot only required the Hindu attacks to be shown. Parzania (translation: Heaven and hell on earth[2]) is a 2007 Indian drama film co-written and directed by Rahul Dholakia; David N. Donihue is the other co-writer. The film featured Naseeruddin Shah and Sarika in the lead roles, while Corin Nemec and Raj Zutshi played supporting roles. Made on a budget of US$700000, the film was shot in Ahmedabad and Hyderabad The film was premiered at 36th India International Film Festival in Goa on 26 November 2005, before being released nationwide on 26 January 2007.

Laxmi Shankarcharya anti Hindu Islamic Muslims Great Speech Must Watch Must Share An eye opener
Hate Speech by Laxmi Shankarcharya anti Hindu Islamic abuse Muslims massacre kill riots bomb blast murders, Kill all Muslims because they never killed all Hindus during the time they were ruling India. Muslims ruled India more than 600 years and still this country is known as Hindustan and it was not renamed as Muslimistan etc.. If you have any other comment???? then please put it in the comments and let the people talk about it. I think, this way we can give our thoughts being human. I am "Secularification" - I love all religions and all humans - Although I am a Muslim but I also respect all religions. The title is opposite to what this video says because people don't want to see a video if it is praising Islam or Muslims. Please watch this video till the end and share with all your friends. I will remain...... Secularification.

As each of us has his own impression of Afghanistan that is predominantly marked with pictures of foreign forces, explosions and terror, we were privileged to have access to capture daily life and portrait some people of Afghanistan.
We hope the pictures you know will merge with the pictures you see and will enrich your view on the country in the Hindu Kush.
locations:
Kabul and Mazar-e Sharif
We wanted to go to other places as well but there were several incidents and security was too bad. Just one day after shooting at the blue mosque in Mazar-e Sharif a mob started from the very same place storming the UN building.
I have lived from 2006-2008 in Kabul doing my civil service for a humanitarian aid organization. This March I had the chance to go back with my fiancée to show her the place I love and to capture the beauty of this country with our cameras.
At the same time I made this as a tribute to a dear friend, who was shot in the streets of Kabul. Gayle inspired me in her love and dedication for the Afghans.
After a full summer with other work we had now the chance to do the editing.
Lisa-Maria Puy who composed the music for us was wonderful to work with. We met her on Zanzibar island and back in Germany she composed this wonderful soundtrack within just 3 days (and nights). She studied music at HfM Detmold in Germany and is a very talented artist and we hope to work with her again.

Last week the clip got published in the iPad edition of Süddeutsche-Zeitung Magazin.
I hope you enjoy and we are happy for your honest feedback.

"CITY OF LAKES" The Feature
What happens to a dream when it becomes reality?
Does it still exist somewhere, in some ethereal place, waiting to come to fruition again?
Could a fictional narrative capture an emotional state, and the true meaning behind a real, live event with more drama and conviction than a traditional documentary?
These were just some of the questions that arose when I took on the “CITY OF LAKES” project late last year. First, it would become an unprecedented attempt to combine a fully scripted, produced film with Melissa & Samir's real, live wedding. All with the intention of creating one, seamless film. Second, the live wedding and production would be shot entirely on-location in Udaipur, India over a period of nine days. Third, our skeleton crew would consist solely of live event filmmakers from across North America, who would shoot the live wedding events and production simultaneously & exclusively on HDSLRs, the Canon 5D Mark II and 7D.
“CITY OF LAKES” is as much a story about what it means to return to the birthplace of one’s ancestors, as it is an exploration of the Hindu faith, and the rituals of a Hindu marriage. Central to this is the Ganesh puja, which in simple terms, is a prayer over a fire believed to invoke the spirit of Ganesh, a great deity and protector, who can remove all obstacles from one’s path. The puja is performed several times in the film and carries great significance to the plot and characters in both literal and metaphoric ways.
Melissa & Samir had always dreamed of being married in India. We hope this film helps them cherish that dream. But it could not have been without the acting talents of Anubhab Saha, Sharon Chawda and Rushad Rana, who were consummate professionals and a joy to work with. It also could not have been without the support of our sponsors: Canon, who provided two pre-production 7Ds and a host of L-series lenses; Tiffen, who provided all of our lighting; and Cinevate, who sent us much needed gear and sponsored an incredible behind-the-scenes campaign viewable at Cinevate.com.
The challenges were immediate, abundant and frequent. At times, we were certain the film was destined for failure; I often wondered if the film was too ambitious to execute. But what resulted was due in no small part to a crew made up of live event filmmakers who deal routinely in making the spontaneous appear staged. We're proud to share Melissa & Samir’s ‘hybrid’ feature, “CITY OF LAKES,” which hopefully achieves more than a documentary, and perhaps at the same time, more than a scripted film.
There is a final question we hope you’ll find difficult to answer as you watch our film. In more ways than one, try to answer:
What is real?
Thanks for watching,
-Kevin

Shatashloki Ramayana (Telugu)
Ramayana is popularly known as 'Adi Kaavya' (the first literature). It consists of 24000 verses in 7 Chapters (called Kaandas). It is extremely popular among Hindus, Buddhists and Jains in India and other countries such as Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Burma and Malaysia.
The scripture begins as a dialogue between Sage Valmiki and the celestial saint Narada. Sage Valmiki asks Narada about the ideal being -- Perfection Incarnate -- the person with the noblest qualities ever seen. Narada proceeds to answer Valmiki with the divine story of Lord Rama -- The Ramayana.Shata-Shloki Ramayana (Ramayana in 100 verses) is the first canto of this monumental epic written in the 32-syllable meter called the 'Anushtup'. The Shata-Shloki is an abridged version of the whole tale describing the major events in the following sequence:
1. Baala Kaanda : The birth of Rama, his childhood and his marriage to Seeta.
2. Ayodhya Kaanda: Preparations for Rama's coronation and his exile to the forest.
3. Aranya Kaanda: Rama in forest and the abduction of Seeta by Ravana, the demon king of Lanka
4. Kishkindha Kaanda: Rama's meeting with Hanuman, the slaying of Vanara King Vaali and installation of Vaali's younger brother Sugreeva as the ruler of Kishkindha
5. Sundara Kaanda: Hanuman's heroics, his flight to Lanka and his discovery of Seeta
6. Yuddha Kaanda: The epic battle between Rama and Ravana.
7. Uttara Kaanda: Lord Rama's coronation, his reign and the Lord's return to Vaikuntha
Shata shloki Ramayana ends with a Phala Shruti narrating the benefits of chanting and listening to this hymn. His Holiness Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji of Avadhoota Datta Peetham has sonorously chanted these 100 verses in the audio album "Shata Shloki Ramayana" in the Ragas Mohana, Charukeshi, Shuddha Dhanyasi, Hamsadhwani, Sriraga, Purvikalyani, Peelu, Sallapam and Madhyamavati.
This slideshow video includes the audio of the album with appropriate visuals from Ramayana sketched by an artist per Sri Swamiji's direction. Also included in the video are the brief inner meanings of each verse in Telugu and its Telugu transliteration for easy learning.
