Arbour Hill Prison
Arbour Hill Prison is a prison and military cemetery located in the Arbour Hill area near Heuston Station in the centre of Dublin, Ireland. The prison is the national centre for male sex offenders.
The prison was designed by Sir Joshua Jebb and Frederick Clarendon and opened on its present site in 1848, to house military prisoners. The church has an unusual entrance porch with stairs leading to twin galleries for visitors in the nave and transept. Another unusual feature is the celtic round tower which erupts from a rectangular base. It opened as a civilian prison in 1975.
The adjoining Church of the Sacred Heart, which is the prison chapel for Arbour Hill prison, is maintained by the Department of Defence. At the rear of the church lies the old cemetery, where lie the remains of British military personnel who died in the Dublin area in the 19th and early 20th century.
An interesting feature is the tunnel which runs from St Bricans Military Hospital, via the Prison to the former Collins Barracks.

Glasgow grew from a small rural settlement on the River Clyde to become one of the largest seaports in Britain. Expanding from the medieval bishopric of Glasgow and the later establishment of the University of Glasgow in the 15th century, it became a major centre of the Scottish Enlightenment in the 18th century. From the 18th century the city also grew as one of Britain's main hubs of transatlantic trade with British North America and the British West Indies. With the Industrial Revolution, the city and surrounding region shifted to become one of the world's pre-eminent centres of heavy engineering, most notably in shipbuilding and marine engineering industry, which produced many innovative and famous vessels. Glasgow was known as the "Second City of the British Empire" for much of the Victorian era and Edwardian period. Kensal Green, also referred to as Kensal Rise is an area of London, England. It is located on the southern edge of the London Borough of Brent and borders the City of Westminster to the East and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea to the South.
Kensal Green is a residential area with good transport links to central London, surrounding districts include Willesden Green to the north, Harlesden to the west, Brondesbury and Queens Park to the east and Ladbroke Grove to the south. The names Kensal Green and Kensal Rise are used somewhat interchangeably by non-residents to denote the same district, although residents differentiate between the areas based on proximity to the local tube and railway stations.
Roughly speaking, the area west of Chamberlayne Road, north of Harrow Road and south of Kensal Rise railway station is considered Kensal Green while that to the east of Chamberlayne Road and north of the station is considered Kensal Rise. These boundaries are by no means fixed however and some residents are known to use both terms with little regard for geographical accuracy. Long Island
Long Island is an island located in the southeast part of the U.S. state of New York, just east of Manhattan. Stretching northeast into the Atlantic Ocean, Long Island contains four counties, two of which are boroughs of New York City (Queens and Brooklyn), and two of which are mainly suburban (Nassau and Suffolk). The term "Long Island" often refers only to Nassau and Suffolk counties in order to differentiate them from New York City, though all four counties are on the island and part of the New York metropolitan area.
As of the 2010 census, Long Island had a population of 7,568,304, making it the most populated island in any U.S. state or territory. It is also the 17th most populous island in the world, ahead of Ireland, Jamaica and the Japanese island of Hokkaidō. Its population density is 5,402 inhabitants per square mile (2,086 /km2). If it were a state, Long Island would rank 13th in population (after Virginia) and first in population density.
Both the longest and the largest island in the contiguous United States, Long Island extends 118 miles (190 km) eastward from New York Harbor to Montauk Point, and has a maximum north-to-south expanse of 23 miles (37 km) between the northern Long Island Sound coast and the southern Atlantic coast. Marble Arch

Marble Arch is a white Carrara marble monument that now stands on a large traffic island at the junction of Oxford Street, Park Lane, and Edgware Road, almost directly opposite Speakers' Corner in Hyde Park in London, England. Until 1851 it stood in front of Buckingham Palace.
Historically, only members of the royal family and the King's Troop, Royal Horse Artillery, have been allowed to pass through the arch in ceremonial procession.
The name "Marble Arch" also refers to the locality in west London where the arch is situated, particularly, the southern portion of Edgware Road. There also is an underground station named after it.
The arch was designed in 1825 by John Nash as ceremonial entrance to the courtyard of the new Buckingham Palace, which he was then rebuilding from the former Buckingham House. The palace, as designed by Nash, was laid out around three sides of the courtyard., with the Marble Arch placed on its open, eastern side.

Clinton Greyn
Clinton Greyn (29 September 1936) is a Welsh-born actor noted for his appearances in British television series of the 1960s and 1970s.
He made his film debut in the 1961 short Wings of Death, and went onto appear in such popular British TV series as Z-Cars and Compact. His career progressed to a prominent role opposite Stanley Baker in Peter Yates' crime caper Robbery (1967). This led to him getting his own TV series in 1968, Virgin of the Secret Service, in which he played the dashing Captain Robert Virgin, travelling the world battling evil in the name of the British Empire. The series was not a success and he found himself making guest appearances in other adventure series, such as The Champions; Department S; and UFO.
In the early 1970s he moved to Hollywood where he appeared in a number of films, including Raid on Rommel; The Love Machine; Christa: Swedish Fly Girls; and How to Steal an Airplane (all 1971). Returning to Britain he continued to guest-star in popular television series of the period such as Jason King; The Protectors; The Zoo Gang; and Doctor Who.

Douglas Slocombe
Douglas Slocombe OBE, BSC, A.S.C. (born 10 February 1913) is a British cinematographer who has enjoyed a long career in the British film industry. His many films as director of photography include Promise Her Anything (1965), The Fearless Vampire Killers (1967), Robbery (1967), The Italian Job (1969), Nijinsky (1980), the unofficial James Bond film Never Say Never Again in 1983, and the first three Indiana Jones films between 1981 and 1989.
His early films as cinematographer included several Ealing comedies, notably Kind Hearts and Coronets (1949), The Man in the White Suit (1951), The Lavender Hill Mob (1951) and The Titfield Thunderbolt (1953).
He has been nominated for an Academy Award on three occasions, for Travels with My Aunt (1973), Julia (1977), and Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981). He also won the BAFTA Award for best cinematography for Julia, The Great Gatsby (1974) and The Servant (1963), and was nominated for Guns at Batasi (1964), The Blue Max (1966), The Lion in Winter (1968), Travels with My Aunt (1973), Jesus Christ Superstar (1973), Rollerball (1975), Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984).

Frank Finlay
Francis Finlay, CBE (born 6 August 1926) is an English stage, film and television actor.
Finlay was born in Farnworth, Lancashire, the son of Margaret and Josiah Finlay, a butcher. A devout Catholic, he belongs to the British Catholic Stage Guild. He was educated at St. Gregory the Great School but left at the age of fourteen and then trained as a butcher himself, gaining a City and Guilds Diploma in the trade. He met his future wife, Doreen Shepherd, when they were both members of the Farnworth Little Theatre. They had three children, Stephen, Cathy and Daniel and they lived in Shepperton, Middlesex and were married until her death in 2005.
Finlay began his stage career in rep before graduating from RADA. There followed several appearances at the Royal Court Theatre, notably in the Arnold Wesker trilogy. He is particularly associated with the National Theatre, especially during the Olivier years and the Chichester Festival Theatre, where he played a wide variety of roles ranging from the First Gravedigger in Hamlet to Josef Frank in Weapons of Happiness. He also had parts in The Party, Plunder, Saint Joan, Hobson's Choice, "Amadeus", Much Ado About Nothing (as Dogberry), The Dutch Courtesan, The Crucible, Mother Courage, and Juno and the Paycock.

George Raft
George Raft (born George Ranft; September 26, 1901 – November 24, 1980) was an American film actor and dancer identified with portrayals of gangsters in crime melodramas (mob films) of the 1930s and 1940s. A stylish leading man in dozens of movies, today George Raft is mostly known for his gangster roles in Billy Wilder's 1959 comedy Some Like it Hot, the original Scarface (1932), and Each Dawn I Die (1939), and as a dancer in Bolero (1934) and a truck driver in They Drive by Night (1940). Raft's real-life association with the New York mob gave his on-screen image an added realism.[citation needed]
Raft was born on September 26, 1901 in Hell's Kitchen, New York City, the son of Eva (Glockner) and Conrad Ranft. His father was born in Massachusetts, to German immigrant parents, and his mother was a German immigrant. His parents were married on November 17, 1895 in Manhattan, and his sister, Eva, known as "Katie" was born on April 18, 1896. Although Raft's birth year has been reported to be 1895, the 1900 Census for New York City lists his elder sister, Katie, as his parents' only child with two children born and only one living. On the 1910 Census, he is listed as being 8 years old, and his birth record can be found in the New York City birth index as being 1901. A boyhood friend of gangster Owney Madden (and later a "wheel man" for the mob"), Raft admittedly narrowly avoided a life of crime. Raft spoke German fluently, having learned the language from his parents.

George Sewell
George Sewell (31 August 1924 – 2 April 2007) was an English actor.
The son of a Hoxton printer and a florist; Sewell left school at age 14 and worked briefly in the printing trade before switching to building work, specifically the repair of bomb-damaged houses. He then trained as a Royal Air Force pilot, though too late to see action during World War II.
After his demobilisation, Sewell joined the Merchant Navy, serving as a steward for the Cunard Line, on the RMS Queen Mary and RMS Queen Elizabeth on their Atlantic crossings to New York. He worked as a street photographer, assisted a French roller-skating team and was drummer and assistant road manager of a rumba band. He also travelled Europe as a motor coach courier travelling around Europe for a holiday company.
Sewell had not considered acting until, aged 35, he met the actor Dudley Sutton by chance in a pub. Sutton recommended that Sewell audition for a production by Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop of Fings Ain't Wot They Used T'Be. Sewell did so, and made his acting debut as a policeman in the show both at the Theatre Royal, Stratford East and in the West End. He went on to star in two other Littlewood productions, Sparrers Can't Sing (1962) and as Field Marshal Haig in Oh! What a Lovely War (1963) which later went to Paris and Broadway. The experience garnered from stage acting led to a long career in both film and television.

Glynn Edwards
Glynn Edwards (born 2 February 1931) is a British actor.
Edwards was born in Malaya and trained as an actor at Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop. He is best known for his role as Dave 'the barman' Harris, owner of the Winchester Club in 10 series of ITV drama Minder. He has appeared in numerous TV shows such as Public Eye, Spindoe, Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em, Dixon of Dock Green, Man About the House, Softly, Softly and The Saint to name a few. He was also a regular in the final two series of the ITV legal drama The Main Chance (1972, 1975). He also appeared as George, in Steptoe and Son - And Son (Series 5, Episode 4 (1970)).
His most notable film appearances were in Robbery, Zulu and Get Carter. Edwards can also be seen in rock band Marillion's video for "Heart of Lothian" in 1985 where he plays a barman and in Paul Young's video to "Love of the Common People" from 1983. Edwards also starred in a popular advert for McVities Rich Tea biscuits as "Jacko" famously quoting "Yeah I'll make a statement. A drink's too wet without one!"

Ivor Dean
Ivor Donald Dean (21 December 1917 - 10 August 1974) was a British stage and television actor.
With his lugubrious demeanour he was often cast as world-weary police officers or butlers, and indeed it is for the role of Chief Inspector Claud Eustace Teal in the 1960s series The Saint, opposite Roger Moore, that he is best remembered. Dean played Teal for almost the entire run of the series, except three instances in early episodes where other actors were used. It was on the third occasion, in an episode called Starring The Saint which featured Dean in another role, that the producers saw the ideal actor for the part.
Dean proved the ideal foil for Moore's Simon Templar, invariably one step behind and allegedly hoping for the day when he could pin something on the Saint. Dean's character however seemed to have a respect for his adversary nonetheless. Dean reprised the role in all but name in Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) (1968–69) in which he played Inspector Large, who had the same adversarial relationship with (the much less suave) Jeff Randall.

James Booth
James Booth (born David Geeves; 19 December 1927 – 11 August 2005) was an English film, stage and television actor and screenwriter. Though handsome enough to play leading roles, and versatile enough to play a wide variety of character parts, Booth naturally projected a shifty, wolfish, or unpredictable quality that led inevitably to villainous roles and comedy, usually with a cockney flavour. He is probably best known for his role as Private Henry Hook in Zulu and Vic Fielding in the British soap opera Coronation Street.
He was born in Croydon, Surrey, England on 19 December 1927, the son of a probation officer. He was educated at Southend Grammar School, which he left aged 17 to join the army. He rose to the rank of Captain. He spent several years working for an international trading company. However, his interest in acting soon took priority. He was trained at RADA and he made his first professional appearance as a member of the Old Vic company, before joining Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop at the Theatre Royal, Stratford East in 1958. The Workshop's musical Fings Ain't Wot They Used T'Be became a hit and Booth, who played its most pungent character, looked poised for stardom. Producer Irving Allen signed Booth to an exclusive contract with Warwick Films.

Jason Robards
Jason Nelson Robards, Jr. (July 26, 1922 – December 26, 2000) was an American actor on stage, and in film and television. He is a winner of the Tony Award, two Academy Awards and the Emmy Award. He was also a United States Navy combat veteran of World War II.
He became famous playing works of Eugene O'Neill, an American playwright, and regularly performed in O'Neill's works throughout his career. Robards was cast in both common-man roles and as well-known historical figures.
Robards was born in Chicago, the son of Hope Maxine (née Glanville) Robards and Jason Robards, Sr., an actor who regularly appeared on the stage and in such early films as The Gamblers (1929). Robards was of English, Welsh, Irish, and Swedish descent.
The family moved to New York City, New York, when Jason Jr. was still a toddler, and then moved to Los Angeles, California, when he was six years old. Later interviews with Robards suggested that the trauma of his parents' divorce, which occurred during his grade-school years, greatly affected his personality and worldview.

Joanna Pettet
Joanna Pettet (born Joanna Jane Salmon on 16 November 1942 in London, England) is a British actress.
Her parents, Harold Nigel Edgerton Salmon, a British Royal Air Force pilot killed in World War II, and mother, Cecily J. Tremaine, were married in London in 1940. After the war, her widowed mother remarried and settled in Canada, where young Joanna was adopted by her stepfather and assumed his surname of "Pettet".
She studied with Sanford Meisner at the Neighborhood Playhouse, as well as at the Lincoln Center, and got her start on Broadway in such plays as Take Her, She's Yours, The Chinese Prime Minister and Poor Richard, with Alan Bates and Gene Hackman, before she was discovered by director Sidney Lumet for his sumptuous 1966 film adaptation of Mary McCarthy's novel, The Group. The success of that film launched a film career that included roles in The Night of the Generals (1967), as Mata Bond in the James Bond spoof Casino Royale (1967), Peter Yates's Robbery with Stanley Baker (1967), the strange Western drama Blue (1968) with Terence Stamp, and the Victorian period comedy, The Best House in London (1969).

John Savident
John Savident (born 21 January 1938) is a British actor, best known for his many television roles, notably that of Fred Elliott in the soap opera Coronation Street from 1994 to 2006.
Despite his many film and TV roles, it was only during the 1990s when he joined the cast of Coronation Street as the bellicose but romantic butcher Fred Elliott that he became a household name. He made his first appearance on the show in 1994 and his character quickly became popular with viewers.
On 1 December 2000, Savident was stabbed in the neck by Michael Smith who claimed he was acting in self-defence. Savident said at the time "I suddenly felt somebody come up behind me and whizz me round so I was face down on the bed and then I felt a prick on my throat". Savident had met Smith in a gay bar. They then went to Savident's home apparently to discuss the theatre which Smith claimed was a euphemism for sex. The next week on Coronation Street the large sticking plaster on his character's neck was explained as a "butchering accident"[citation needed].

Ken Farrington
Ken Farrington (born 18 April 1936) (sometimes credited as Kenneth Farrington) is an English actor.
He first found fame playing the role of Billy Walker, wayward son of publican Annie, in ITV's long running soap opera, Coronation Street. He joined the series in 1961, playing the role on and off until leaving the show for good in 1984.
During the 1960s Farrington played a number of supporting roles in drama series, including The Saint, playing long-suffering Chief Inspector Teal's right-hand man. He also appeared in films such as One Way Pendulum (1964), The Knack ...and How to Get It (1965) and Robbery (1967).
Starting in 1997 he played the key continuing role of Jack Gates, father of Hart family matriarch Annie Hart, in soap opera Family Affairs. His character was killed-off in late 1998 (several weeks prior to the entire Hart family being killed-off) as part of a drastic revamp of that series.
In 2004 he took the ongoing role of Tom King in ITV soap opera Emmerdale. On 8 August 2006, ITV announced that Ken Farrington had decided to leave Emmerdale after three years. He said, "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Emmerdale but feel it is time to move on". Speaking about his decision to quit the show, Farrington said: "I originally came to 'Emmerdale' for just six months and I have ended up staying for three years. Even during my 25 years at 'Coronation Street', two years at a time was my longest stint". "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at 'Emmerdale' but feel it is time to move on," he said.

Michael Deeley (born 6 August 1932) is a British film producer who has helped create notable films such as The Italian Job, The Deer Hunter and Blade Runner. He is also a founding member and Deputy Chairman of The British Screen Advisory Council.
Deeley was appointed General Manager of Woodfall Films in 1964 which acquired British Lion Films in 1973. British Lion merged with EMI Films in 1976, and in 1984 he was appointed CEO of Consolidated.
He also helped run Oakhurst Productions with Stanley Baker.

Peter Yates
Peter James Yates (24 July 1929 – 9 January 2011) was an English director and producer. He was born in Aldershot, Hampshire.
The son of an army officer, he attended Charterhouse School as a boy, graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and worked for some years as an actor, director and stage manager. In the 1950s he started in the movie industry as a dubbing assistant and later an assistant director for Tony Richardson.
Summer Holiday (1963), his first film as director, was a "lightweight" vehicle for Cliff Richard. Yates had directed the original Royal Court production of N. F. Simpson's play One Way Pendulum and was chosen to make the film version released in 1964. Robbery (1967), a crime thriller, is a fictionalised version of the Great Train Robbery of 1963. This led to Bullitt (1968), of which Bruce Weber has written, "Mr. Yates’s reputation probably rests most securely on “Bullitt” (1968), his first American film – and indeed, on one particular scene, an extended car chase that instantly became a classic." After Bullitt, Yates would do action films, but would intermix them with comedy and drama films.

Stanley Baker
Sir Stanley Baker (28 February 1928 – 28 June 1976) was a Welsh actor and film producer.
William Stanley Baker was born in Ferndale, Rhondda Valley, Wales, the youngest of three children. His father was a coal miner who lost a leg in an accident and got work as a truck driver. Baker grew up a self-proclaimed a "wild kid" only interested in "football and boxing" but his artistic ability was spotted at an early age by a local teacher, Glynne Morse, who encouraged Baker to act. When he was 14 he was performing in a school play when seen by a casting director from Ealing Studios, who recommended him for a role in Undercover (1943), a war film about the Yugoslav guerrillas in Serbia. He was paid £20 a week and caught the acting bug, deciding to become a professional actor. Six months later Banker appeared with Emlyn Williams in a play on the West End called The Druid's Rest, appearing alongside a young Richard Burton.
Baker worked for a time as an apprentice electrician then through Morse's influence he managed to secure a position with the Birmingham Repertory Theatre in 1944. He stayed there for three years, until called up to do his National Service in 1946. He served in the Royal Army Service Corps until 1948, achieving the rank of sergeant. After demobilisation he moved to London determined to resume hie acting career. He was eventually cast at Richard Burton's recommendation in a small role in a play on the West End, Adventure Story by Terrence Rattigan. He began appearing in films and on television, as well performing on stage for the Middlesex Repertory Company. He impressed when cast as the bosun's mate in the Hollywood-financed Captain Horatio Hornblower (1951).

Terrence Stephen "Steve" McQueen (March 24, 1930 – November 7, 1980) was an American movie actor. He was nicknamed "The King of Cool." His "anti-hero" persona, which he developed at the height of the Vietnam counterculture, made him one of the top box-office draws of the 1960s and 1970s. McQueen received an Academy Award nomination for his role in The Sand Pebbles. His other popular films include The Magnificent Seven, The Great Escape, The Thomas Crown Affair, Bullitt, The Getaway, Papillon, and The Towering Inferno. In 1974, he became the highest-paid movie star in the world. Although McQueen was combative with directors and producers, his popularity put him in high demand and enabled him to command large salaries.
He was an avid racer of both motorcycles and cars. While he studied acting, he supported himself partly by competing in weekend motorcycle races and bought his first motorcycle with his winnings. He is recognized for performing many of his own stunts, but one of the most widely claimed and cherished examples of this—that he did the majority of the stunt driving for his character during the high-speed chase scene in Bullitt—was revealed not to be true by his most trusted stuntman and stunt driver Loren James.

William Marlowe (25 July 1930 – February 2003) was a British theatre, television and film actor.

Robbery is a 1967 British crime film directed by Peter Yates and starring Stanley Baker. The story is a heavily fictionalised version of the 1963 Great Train Robbery. The film was produced by Stanley Baker and Michael Deeley, for Baker's company Oakhurst Productions.

A criminal gang uses a gas canister to knock out the occupant of a car and then bundle him into a stolen ambulance. There they cut free a briefcase full of jewelry. Shortly after, when changing vehicles, the criminals are spotted by the police and a high-speed chase develops with the criminals getting away.
Using the money from this job, crime boss Paul Clifton (Stanley Baker) builds up a team to hit a Royal Mail train coming south from Glasgow. A meticulous plan is put in place, but there are obstacles: the driver of the getaway car identified in an identity parade and arrested (but refuses to name accomplices to police); gang member Robinson (Frank Finlay) has to be broken out of prison; and Inspector George Langdon (James Booth) is hot on the trail of the jewel robbers, and finds out through informers about plans for an even bigger heist.
The gang gathers to do the job and change the signals to stop the train and escape with the cash. In the morning Langley and the police investigate the crime scene and explore possible local hide-outs, including a disused airbase where the robbers are hiding in the basement, but are not found.
The cash is divided up and the getaway vehicles hidden at a scrapyard. Members wait in turn to take their share to Switzerland. However, the paid-off scrapyard man is arrested at an airport and found with banknotes from the raid and confesses. Police then arrest some of gang as they retrieve cars at the scrapyard. This leads the police back to the airfield where they arrest further gang members.
However, leader Paul Clifton evades capture and places his cut of the money on a private plane and is last seen disembarking at New York with a different identity.

The film, which was shot entirely on location, contains much period footage of central London including shots of Marble Arch, Trafalgar Square, Little Venice and Kensal Green. Filming was even done at New York Harbour and Arbour Hill Prison in Dublin.
Robbery also became influential in the genre of British film and TV police/crime thrillers through the 1970s, such as The Sweeney and The Long Good Friday. Robbery also inspired the film Buster (1988).
The film includes a dramatic car chase, realistic portrayal of police procedure as well as crime preparations and scenes shot entirely on location. These creative aspects attracted the attention of Steve McQueen who hired director Peter Yates to direct Bullitt.
Joseph E. Levine requested the addition of an American mastermind to ensure the movie would appeal to American audiences. Three days of scenes were shot featuring Jason Robards on Long Island.[1] However after this was done it was decided not to use the scenes. Also cut out were scenes involving Vanessa Redgrave.
George Raft was to have played a role in the film but was unable to do so after being refused entry into London.[2]

In 2008 'Robbery' was released on DVD for the first time. Previous to this, the only copies in circulation were from a VHS release in the 1980s.

Robbery is the crime of taking or attempting to take something of value by force or threat of force or by putting the victim in fear. At common law, robbery is defined as taking the property of another, with the intent to permanently deprive the person of that property, by means of force or fear. Precise definitions of the offence may vary between jurisdictions. Robbery differs from simple theft in its use of violence and intimidation.
The word "rob" came via French from Late Latin words (e.g. deraubare) of Germanic origin, from Common Germanic raub — "theft"
Among the types of robbery are armed robbery involving use of a weapon and aggravated robbery involving use of a deadly weapon or something that appears to be a deadly weapon. Highway robbery or "mugging" takes place outside and in a public place such as a sidewalk, street, or parking lot. Carjacking is the act of stealing a car from a victim by force. Extortion is the threat to do something illegal, or the offer to not do something illegal, in the event that goods are not given, primarily using words instead of actions.
