Wetlands Northern Tibet Autonomous Region Support Eco-Life Cycle
For more news visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ facebook.com The wetlands in Northern Tibet Autonomous Region boast the biggest ecosystem in China. It's the home of China's biggest cluster of wetlands with lakes, marshes, and rivers. But concerns are growing that the lake's water level is expanding by several feet a year. Here's more on the story. The wetlands in the Tibet Autonomous Region comprise the largest wetland system in China—supporting the existence of the northern Tibet grasslands. Situated on the plateau 15000 feet above sea level, Serling Tso Lake is a tranquil relaxing environment for people with an abundance of plant and animal life. Its cobalt blue water tastes a little salty, like seawater. Local residents say the lake is growing bigger with water levels expanding by about three feet from last year. [Lei Guilong, Tibet Autonomous Region Forestry Bureau]: "Surveys show that the area of wetland in Tibet has increased since the first survey. Moreover, 90% of the wetland has maintained a good protogenetic state." Serling Tso Lake and another 20 satellite lakes make up a wetland protection zone... providing an ideal habitat and breeding ground for rare waterfowls. There are about 100 varieties of birds living there. Tibet has more than 1500 lakes. That's over six million acres, which is 30% of the lake area in China. This region is the home of China's biggest cluster of wetlands with lakes, marshes, and rivers ...

53rd Tibet Self-Immolation Death
A Tibetan writer is the 53rd person to die in a string of self-immolation protests against Chinese rule. 43 year old Gudrub set himself alight on Thursday in Nagqu prefecture in the Tibet Autonomous Region. The writer and poet had studied in India, and had previously posted writings online about the wave of self-immolation protests. Gudrub's death comes less than a week after a young Tibetan set himself alight in northwestern Qinhai. Tibetan Yaks གཡག་
བོད་ - 西藏- Tibet: This vast high plateau is home to wild and domesticated yaks. They provide a livelihood for farmers and nomadic herders across the 'Tibet Autonomous Region' and the Chinese provinces Qinghai and Sichuan. The Tibetan Plateau, four times the size of France (1000km by 2500km ), is the most extensive plateau in the world. With a mean altitude of around 4500 metres, it is also the highest in the world. The yak is at home on this bleak and windswept plateau and in the Himalayas in the south-west.

Street Lives of Tibetan Children After China's "Liberation" Part 1/7
www.StandUpForTibet.org China often complains that its civilizing mission in Tibet is costing the government and people of China large amounts in terms of subsidies to an under-developed region. According to official Chinese statistics, the level of annual subsidies to the Tibetan Autonomous Region (TAR) in the late 1980s was around 1 billion yuan or $270 million. However, all the infrastructure that China has built in Tibet has not made the lives of the native Tibetans any better; it has only taken the exploitative apparatuses of the Chinese government deeper. The Lost World of Tibet - 西藏半生緣1/9
China is incurring huge expenditure in transferring and consolidating the Chinese population in Tibet. Massive investment has been made to build a network of modern highways all over Tibet. China can also boast of having laid the highest railway track in the world that connects Lhasa with Beijing. In fact, China often complains that its civilizing mission in Tibet is costing the government and people of China large amounts in terms of subsidies to an under-developed region. According to official Chinese statistics, the level of annual subsidies to the Tibetan Autonomous Region (TAR) in the late 1980s was around 1 billion yuan or $270 million. New video footage of brutal Chinese police raid and civilian arrests in Tibet following the March 2008 Tibetan protests.
The Department of Information and International Relations of the Central Tibetan Administration obtained the following raw video footage, smuggled out of Tibet, showing Chinese police, SWAT teams and paramilitary troops conducting household raids in Dogde township in March 2008.
Dogde township is a rural area located near Sera monastery and individuals arrested in this video are allegedly suspected of having taken part in the March 11, 2008 protest led by monks from Sera monastery and nuns from Chusang nunnery, both located on the outskirts of Lhasa in the Tibetan Autonomous Region. This protest was one in over 300 which took place across the Tibetan plateau in 2008.
The footage depicts the sheer scale of police operations to hunt down suspected demonstrators.

The unarmed protesters, many of whom were farmers and nomads raised slogans calling for freedom in Tibet and the return of the Dalai Lama.
