Britten: Holy Sonnets of John Donne- "Batter my heart"
Britten: Holy Sonnets of John Donne - No.II " Batter my heart" Paul Austin Kelly, tenor Michael Recchiuti, piano more @ www.michaelrecchiuti.com Batter my heart, three-person'd God ; for you As yet but knock ; breathe, shine, and seek to mend ; That I may rise, and stand, o'erthrow me, and bend Your force, to break, blow, burn, and make me new. I, like an usurp'd town, to another due, Labour to admit you, but O, to no end. Reason, your viceroy in me, me should defend, But is captived, and proves weak or untrue. Yet dearly I love you, and would be loved fain, But am betroth'd unto your enemy ; Divorce me, untie, or break that knot again, Take me to you, imprison me, for I, Except you enthrall me, never shall be free, Nor ever chaste, except you ravish me.

English Poetry Presentation for Donne's Holy Sonnet IX
English Poetry Presentation for Donne's Holy Sonnet IX
I made this video for ENGL 1102 two years ago as a visual interpretation of John Donne's Holy Sonnet IX. I filmed it twice because as I was editing it the first time the computer froze and deleted it, so I had to reshoot and re-edit. So, this video almost never existed.

John Donne Holy Sonnet 14 Batter My Heart-Modern Interpretation
John Donne Holy Sonnet 14 "Batter My Heart" reflects meanings which resonated with my understanding of Islam. In this video, I say a "poem" which reflects some of these meanings in modern parlance and read a report from Sahih al-Bukhari which illustrates the shared meaning. Death be not proud
Death be not proud
An excerpt from the Holy Sonnet X ("Death Be not Proud") by John Donne as read by Emma Thompson in the movie "Wit", the song is "Spiegel im Spiegel" by Arvo Pärt. I made this video as a mean to express the admiration this sonnet, specifically the reading of it made in the movie, inspired in me... "One short sleepe past, wee wake eternally, And death shall be no more, death, thou shalt die." All that's between life and death, and, why not, a new life, is a comma, no semi-colons, no capital Ds, just that... a comma, a small stop...
