In the publishing industry, an imprint can mean several different things:

• As a piece of bibliographic information about a book, it refers to the name and address of the book's publisher and its date of publication as given at the foot or on the verso of its title page.^[1]
• It can mean a trade name under which a work is published.^{[citation needed]} One single publishing company may have multiple imprints; the different imprints are used by the publisher to market works to different demographic consumer segments. In some cases, the diversity results from the takeover of smaller publishers (or parts of their business) by a larger company. This usage of the word has evolved from the first meaning given above.
• It can also refer to a finer distinction of a book's version than "edition".^{[citation needed]} This is used to distinguish, for example different printings, or printing runs of the same edition, or to distinguish the same edition produced by a different publisher or printer. With the creation of the "ISBN" identification system, which is assigned to a text prior to its printing, a different imprint has effectively come to mean a text with a different ISBN—if one had been assigned to it.
• The word imprint or masthead is sometimes used on international websites, normally translated from German. This usually contains an "Impressum" that contains legal information, such as website details with information on the responsible person or entity.

Carter Benedict Burwell (born November 18, 1955) is an American composer of film scores.

Life and career[link]

Burwell was born in New York City, the son of Natalie (née Benedict), a math teacher, and Charles Burwell, who founded Thaibok Fabrics, Ltd.^[1] He graduated from King School in Stamford, Connecticut,^[2] and Harvard College, where he was a cartoonist for The Harvard Lampoon.

As a film composer, Burwell has had a long-working relationship with the Coen brothers, providing music for every film they have made (except for O Brother, Where Art Thou?, where he provided additional music to a score of traditional songs produced by T-Bone Burnett). He enjoys working with left-field directors, such as Spike Jonze. Among his best known film scores are Miller's Crossing (1990), And the Band Played On (1993), Conspiracy Theory (1997), Hamlet (2000), The Spanish Prisoner (1997), Before the Devil Knows You're Dead (2007), In Bruges (2008), Twilight (2008) Where The Wild Things Are (2009), The Blind Side (2009), and Breaking Dawn Part 1 (2011).

Burwell, like many composers, studied piano as a child, but eventually quit. His interest in music reignited when Steve Kraemer, a fellow high school student, taught him basic blues improvisation on the piano, which he continued with through college.

Ultimately the ethos of the punk rock movement gave him the impetus to start performing. He performed in New York with several bands, notably The Same, Thick Pigeon and Radiante.

By 1986 he had composed the music for a dance piece, RAB, which premiered at the Avignon Festival. At the same time, he was touring worldwide with The Harmonic Choir, David Hykes' experimental vocal group which specialized in overtone singing.

Burwell used the country music genre as the basis for his score for the Coens' Raising Arizona in 1987.

His work has alternated between live performance, dance and theatre commissions, and film scoring. His chamber opera "The Celestial Alphabet Event" was presented in New York in 1991 and other theatre pieces include "Mother" (1994) and "Lucia's Chapters" (2007), both with the experimental theatre group Mabou Mines.

In April 2005, Burwell composed and conducted music, performed by The Parabola Ensemble, for the plays "Sawbones" written and directed by the Coen Brothers, "Hope Leaves the Theater" written and directed by Charlie Kaufman and "Anomalisa" written and directed by Francis Fregoli. This was a segment of the sound-only production Theater of the New Ear, which debuted at St. Ann's Warehouse in Brooklyn, NY with support from Sirius Satellite Radio, United Talent Agency and Sony Pictures. It was also performed at the Royal Festival Hall in London and as part of the UCLA Live Festival in Los Angeles.

Burwell married Christine Sciulli in 1999.^[3]

Thick Pigeon[link]

Burwell once played in Thick Pigeon with Stanton Miranda. The group released two albums, Too Crazy Cowboys (Factory) and tracks on Miranda Dali (Crepuscule), originally released as a Miranda solo project but later reissued as a Thick Pigeon release. On Burwell's soundtrack for Psycho III, Miranda was a featured singer.

Mitchy Slick is an American rapper from San Diego, CA. He is a member of the group Strong Arm Steady, along with rappers Phil Da Agony and Krondon. He performs solo with three albums released in addition to many collaborations. Mitchy Slick is the CEO of Wrongkind Records and is currently signed to Hoo-Bangin' Records.

A native of San Diego, CA rap veteran Mitchy Slick is a solo artist and one-third of Stones Throw Records hip-hop trio Strong Arm Steady.

Founder and CEO, Slick branded Tha Wrongkind, a familial collective of artists, producers, deejays and entrepreneurs.

Slick spent his formidable years in the southeastern division of San Diego, namely the Lincoln Park area. He later attended Prairie View A&M in Lubbock, Texas and returned to his hometown in California, where he embarked on his musical career.

Slick’s debut album, Trigeration Station was released in 2001 and peaked at #13 on Billboard’s Top Independent Albums chart that same year.

Since his debut, Slick has released numerous mixtapes including the XXL Guns collection, Mitchy Duz It and his sophomore album Urban Survival Syndrome. Along with with Los Angeles emcees Krondon and Phil the Agony, west coast super-group Strong Arm Steady released its debut album Deep Hearted in 2007 followed by the mixtape Gang Mentality, the conceptual album In Search of Stoney Jackson and their most recent installment, Arms and Hammers.

In addition to mixtape appearances and both group and solo recordings, Slick has also collaborated with notable industry figures such as Lil Wayne, The Game, Menace, The Jacka, Jay Rock and E-40. In 2007 Slick and bay area rapper Messy Marv released the joint effort, Messy Slick which landed on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart during the week of July 14, 2007.^[1].

In early 2010, Slick and Tha Wrongkind released the Yellow Tape compilation followed by the more recent mixtape Wrongkind Is Everywhere (2012) presented by DJ Rah2k^[2]. His upcoming projects, Gang Intervention and Feet Match the Paint (produced by DJ Fresh) are anticipated for release this year^[3].

Chazwick Bundick better known by his stage name Toro Y Moi, is an American recording artist and producer. His music has taken on many forms since he began recording, but he is often identified with the chillwave movement of summer 2010. As of 2011, his sound has struck out toward progressive rock, especially in a live setting.

The name "Toro y Moi" is half Spanish and half French, and means "the bull and me".

Bundick was born on 7 November 1986, in Columbia, South Carolina, and attended Ridge View High School where he formed well-known Columbia indie rock band The Heist and the Accomplice with three schoolmates. He is of Filipino descent from his mother and African-American descent from his father.

Bundick graduated from the University of South Carolina in spring of 2009 with a bachelor's degree in graphic design. Late in his school career, Bundick formed a close musical relationship with fellow chillwave luminary Ernest Greene who plays under the name Washed Out.

He has since been signed to Carpark Records, on which he released his first full-length album Causers of This in January 2010.

His second album, Underneath the Pine, was released on February 22, 2011. He has been chosen by Caribou to perform at the ATP Nightmare Before Christmas festival that they co-curate in December 2011 in Minehead, England.^[1] On September 13, Toro Y Moi released an EP titled Freaking Out. The EP features a cover of "Saturday Love" by Alexander O'Neal & Cherrelle.

Bundick also put out a collection of experimental "stream of consciousness" recordings under his side project "Sides of Chaz". In addition to this, Chaz also feels as though he has moved beyond the "chillwave" genre, and that "chillwave" was a point where many similar artists started off. He said in an interview At The Sinema that "all that stuff is really good music, like Ernest Green (Washed Out) and Neon Indian. I’m a big fan of all of that, but I think [chillwave] was just a small little period where we all were, coincidentally making the similar music."

Chaz also has a side project focusing more on dance-style music called "Les Sins."
