Minister Maithripala Sirisena has said the government has the strength to win the budget with a majority of votes on Friday . At a media briefing in Colombo said UNP'S efforts to achieve victory in support of the terrorists' aims will be properly responded. 2008 will be a development revolutionary year. The UNP leader suddenly wants to strengthen Parliament. It was the constitution approved by them in 1978 that weakened the legislature and gave wide powers to an Executive President. Therefore, the UNP'S attempts cannot hoodwink the MPs. Minister Sirisena said the result on the budget vote on Friday will be better than the previous occasion. Minister Susil Premajayanth said the request for the abolition of the ceasefire had been made earlier. He queried as to how the LTTE killed Lakshman Kadiragamar, if there was a ceasefire and how the government could go to Sampur, Vakarai, Thoppigala, Silavatura and Mannar. At the same time he said Thamil Selvam would not have died if there was a ceasefire or the Anuradhapura Air Base attacked. The truth is that a ceasefire is not effective. Ministers Vishwa Warnapala and Mahindananda Aluthgamage also participated in the briefing.
