Sweeney Todd is a fictional character who first appeared as the protagonist of the Victorian penny dreadful The String of Pearls (1846–47).
The tale became a staple of Victorian melodrama and London urban legend, and has been retold many times since, most notably in the Tony award-winning Broadway musical by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler.
Claims that Sweeney Todd was a historical person are strongly disputed by scholars, although possible legendary prototypes exist.
In the original version of the tale, Todd is a barber who dispatches his victims by pulling a lever as they sit in his barber chair. His victims fall backward down a revolving trapdoor into the basement of his shop, generally causing them to break their necks or skulls. In case they are alive, Todd goes to the basement and "polishes them off" (slitting their throats with his straight razor). In some adaptations, the murdering process is reversed, with Todd slitting his customers' throats before dispatching them into the basement through the revolving trapdoor. After Todd has robbed his dead victims of their goods, Mrs. Lovett, his partner in crime (in some later versions, his friend and/or lover), assists him in disposing of the bodies by baking their flesh into meat pies and selling them to the unsuspecting customers of her pie shop. Todd's barber shop is situated at 186 Fleet Street, London, next to St. Dunstan's church, and is connected to Mrs. Lovett's pie shop in nearby Bell Yard by means of an underground passage. In most versions of the story, he and Mrs. Lovett hire an unwitting orphan boy, Tobias Ragg, to serve the pies to customers.

Todd heads to his old stomping grounds of Fleet Street, where he runs across the pie shop belonging to Mrs. Nellie Lovett, who professes to make the worst meat pies in London due to the high cost of meat. The upstairs of her building has sat empty since no one wants to rent a space that is considered haunted by its long ago tenant, barber Benjamin Barker who was falsely accused and ultimately sentenced by the sadistic Judge Turpin and who was shipped away to prison in Australia, leaving his wife Lucy and infant daughter Johanna alone in the world. Todd comes to an agreement with Mrs. Lovett to rent the upstairs of her building so that he can open his own barber shop. A series of incidents, including one with rival barber Senor Pirelli, make Todd change his focus slightly away from having a choice encounter with Judge Turpin and his equally sadistic henchman Beadle Bamford, which was one of the reasons he returned to London. Mrs. Lovett believes this change can only help her pie shop. Meanwhile, upon sighting each other, Anthony and Johanna fall in love at first sight. Johanna is now the ward of Judge Turpin, who has his own incompatible wants with her. Todd and Mrs. Lovett's collaboration as well as Anthony's pursuit of Johanna take marked turns with a number of revelations, most specifically about the crazed beggar woman and Mrs. Lovett's motivations.

This video is based off one from a few years ago. This is my first video edit so it might be a little shaky. I don't own any copyrights. If there's a problem I will delete. Please enjoy it! Movie: Sweeney Todd Song: Concrete Angel
In his Victorian Opera debut, music theatre performer Ross Hannaford takes on Tobias Ragg. He reflects on his character and his approach to performing the role.
This video is about Steven Louis Kane (Tobias Ragg)
Neil Patrick Harris played Tobias Ragg in the 2001 concert performances of Sweeney Todd. Tobias is described as either mentally deficient or mentally damaged by cruel mistreatment during childhood. He has an innocent child's devotion to his mother, played by Ms. LuPone. It is a song that can happily break your heart whether sung as a child to his mother, or an adult to the love of a lifetime.
I know there are 3 other Sweeney Todd videos with this song but what the heck, this was one of those "Must Do"-videos! This was done in like 12 hours so it's short and pretty shitty ;D But I just felt like doing a little tribute to Toby. Well, just listen to the lyrics and you will totally get it. Black & white scenes are Toby's thoughts about Nellie and Todd. And this is kinda AU, cos well.. in the end, he saves Nellie from Todd (I always wanted the story to end like that ^^) Song: Face Down Performer: The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus Software: Sony Vegas 7.0 Dedication: COPIPAN, because oh my god, she did this amazing AU video with this song and I think I wrote like a 500 - letter comment on that one xD Brilliant, check it out! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=2v29CTLjpCU HONO...
