Biographies of Living Persons (BLP) and Wikipedia by Ting Chen
keynote by Ting Chen, Chair of Wikimedia Foundation ( China) While Wikipedia grew, it becomes more and more to the first place where people search for information. As an open and online Encyclopedia, it can include informations that are not significant enough for the classic printed Encyclopedias. Less notable entities are also less likely to be checked on their accuracy. This is especially problematic for biography of living person. To overcome this problem, we need combined effort from the community to the board of trustees.

Cherry Ghost - My God Betrays
Biography (from Wikipedia): Cherry Ghost began in 2005, first as an alias for Simon Aldred as a solo artist, before morphing into a full band. Early sessions with Doves bassist and vocalist Jimi Goodwin and a special appearance on Later...with Jools Holland helped excel the band's beginnings. Cherry Ghost were one of only a handful of bands and musicians to have been invited onto Jools Holland's programme before having released any material. Cherry Ghost signed to Heavenly Records, and released their debut single "Mathematics" in April 2007. The debut album, Thirst for Romance, was released in July 2007, following the release of the single "People Help the People" two weeks before, which charted on the UK Singles Chart at #27. The album was met with generally positive reviews, and entered the UK Albums Chart at #7. A third single, "4 AM," was released in September 2007 and charted at #128. A live EP entitled iTunes Festival: Live in London, recorded in July 2007 at the iTunes Festival, was released digitally in November 2007. In September 2007, Cherry Ghost were nominated for Best New Act at the 2007 Q Awards. In early 2008, Cherry Ghost won an Ivor Novello Award for "People Help the People" in the category of Best Contemporary Song. In March 2008, Simon announced through a MySpace blog posting that the band were at the writing stage for the second album and had seven songs written, which had been distilled from over 50 different tunes. The bulk of the album was written ...

Out of Body Travels
Researcher and author Marilynn Hughes discussed her thousands of out-of-body travels, and the meaning behind these experiences. Her latest book, Out-of-Body Experiences: What You Need to Know (free download) moves beyond techniques for achieving OBEs, and looks at the experiences as a spiritual practice. OBEs can be very transformative, helping people to dispel illusions and see the truth about themselves, God, and our life purpose, she said. They can be like a bridge between our world and the eternal, and help the soul to evolve, she added. Yet, OBEs are a path, not the truth itself, she noted. People can visit both heaven and hell realms, and while you won't get stuck remaining in such places, it's possible for things (like negative entities) to attach themselves to a person and travel back with them, Hughes cautioned. She described some of her more exotic and profound out-of-body trips. On a planet in the Pleiadian system, she saw a crystalline city with amethyst buildings, and the sky had seven suns. In Alpha Centauri, the sun seemed huge, and when taken to a star system by very advanced humanoid beings, she briefly saw a world that was indescribable yet heavenly. Biography: Marilynn Hughes had a long-standing career in broadcasting as a news anchor, reporter, and producer. She has experienced, researched, written and taught about Out-of-Body Travel and Mysticism since 1987 and has written more than 50 out-of-body travel books. Wikipedia Astral projection (or astral ...

John Belushi Auditions for Saturday Night Live 1975
From Wikipedia: Belushi achieved national fame for his work on Saturday Night Live, which he joined as an original cast member in 1975. Between seasons of the show, he made one of his best-known movies, Animal House. As several Belushi biographies have noted, on John's 30th birthday (in 1979), he had the number one film in the US (Animal House), the number one album in the US (The Blues Brothers: Briefcase Full of Blues) and Saturday Night Live was the highest-rated late night television program. When interviewed for retrospectives on John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd told stories of John often finishing SNL rehearsals, shows or film shoots and, exhausted, simply walking unannounced into nearby homes of friends or strangers, scrounging around for food and often falling asleep, unable to be located for the following day's work. This was the impetus for the SNL horror-spoof sketch "The Thing That Wouldn't Leave", in which Belushi torments a couple (played by Jane Curtin and Bill Murray) in their home looking for snacks, newspapers and magazines to read, and taking control of their television. In an unfortunate foreshadowing, during the opening of the episode of SNL that aired on December 17, 1977, Belushi, while in character as himself, quipped, "I plan to be dead by the time I'm 30." SNL also featured a short film by writer Tom Schiller called "Don't Look Back In Anger", where Belushi, playing himself as an old man and the last-surviving SNL cast member, visits the graves of his ...

Shock G reacts to Michael Jackson's Death - "How could we call him Jacko... EVER?"
www.pushinthebay.com - Shock G aka Humpty Hump speaks with PUSHIN' THE BAY TV PTBTV in this exclusive video clip. Taken just weeks after Michael Jackson's death, Shock G talks about Michael Jackson's influence questioning the media, "How could we call him Jacko... EVER?". Truly heartfelt, Shock G states his memories doing the robot dance to MJ's classic, "Dancing Machine" by the Jackson 5. Gregory E. Jacobs (born August 25, 1963), known by the stage names Shock G and Humpty Hump, is an American musician and rapper best known as the lead vocalist for the hip hop group Digital Underground. He also is an accomplished pianist, visual artist, and music producer, responsible for Tupac Shakur's breakthrough single, and co-producer of his debut album 2Pacalypse Now. As DU emerged during the late 1980s, a lingering general belief existed amongst music fans that rappers were less authentic ("less Hip-Hop") if they played a traditional music instrument or showed any formal artistic abilities. In a strategy to overcome this, Jacobs opted to keep his accomplishments a secret, and created aliases to disguise his many roles within the group, resulting in characters that were maintained with such reality, they were believed to be actual living people by music fans as well as industry insiders. As "Rackadelic" he illustrated album covers and provided art direction; as the "Piano Man" he contributed keyboard tracks and music production. His main persona "Shock G" utilized a more natural ...

Rodrigo y Gabriela - Orion (Studio Version)
Rodrigo y Gabriela From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Rodrigo y Gabriela (Rodrigo and Gabriela) are a Mexican musical duo who specialize in playing fast, rhythmic acoustic guitars. The duo's members are Rodrigo Sanchez, lead guitar, and Gabriela Quintero, rhythm guitar. The musicians gained a reputation by playing in the pubs and bars of Dublin, Republic of Ireland, and despite their unusual style, gained a cult following. Reviewing one of their gigs,The Independent notes that "Rodrigo y Gabriela's secret is maybe quite simple. They are resourceful musicians who can really play, and are open-hearted, happy entertainers. That, very often, is what people want."[1] Both live a vegan lifestyle and support animal rights.[2] History The duo met in Mexico City while playing in a thrash metal band called "Tierra Ácida". Growing frustrated with the limited scope of the domestic music scene, they moved to Europe, where they met considerable acclaim. They took up residence in Dublin, Ireland, after hearing it was particularly welcoming to travelling musicians. Playing live gigs in various pubs and busking on Grafton Street and Temple Bar allowed them to practice their sound. They received their break when Damien Rice approached them to provide the support for the Irish music festival Oxegen. In 2005 they toured extensively in festivals around the United Kingdom and beyond. The duo has released six albums - Foc, re-Foc, Live in Manchester and Dublin, the self-titled album Rodrigo ...

Zombies : Truth & Legend
Author Dr. Bob Curran explored beliefs, folklore, and truths regarding zombies, the frightening manifestation of the dead returning. Ancient cultures, such as the Viking, Egyptian, and Celtic all believed in the idea that the dead could return from time to time, in physical form. During Medieval England, certain days were set aside for visitations from the "blessed dead"-- who were said to return to warn, advise and enjoy physical activity, he added. It wasn't until Victorian England that the idea of ghosts as apparitions rather than solid forms took hold, he explained. The condition of catalepsy, where living people were sometimes mistaken for dead, may have accounted for some cases of zombie-ism, Curran noted. The expansion of the medical profession in the late 1700s created the need for grave-robbers or "Resurrectionists," and they sometimes delivered bodies which actually were still alive-- contributing to the zombie lore, he commented. In the Caribbean, and later in such US cities as New Orleans and Charleston, the slave trade brought in the practice of voodoo, which combined elements of African religion with French and Spanish Catholicism, said Curran. He also touched on the Jewish legend of the golem, a zombie-like creature said to be made out of clay, and the "living mummies" of Japan, a group of Buddhists who slowed their bodies down through diet. Biography: Bob has traveled many parts of the world, exploring other people's cultures and traditions. Bob lives in ...

Astral Travel & The Energy Body
Mystic, author and speaker Robert Bruce returned for a discussion on astral projection and energy work. He began having spontaneous astral projections as a child, and later learned how to induce them deliberately. One of the purposes of such projections is to experience oneself existing separately from their body, he explained. In the lower astral realms one might encounter many beings (often other projectors) who don't seem very conscious, he detailed. Bruce spoke of astrally traveling to the edge of the universe where he reached a massive "brick wall."Able to press on past it, he described seeing exploding suns and massive meteors. A person maintains the original copy of their mind/spirit in their physical body, so they're not in danger of losing anything during astral projections, he noted. A nearly invisible energy filament (sometimes called the "silver cord") connects the physical body to the astral double, he added. Bruce presented some exercises that stimulate the "energy body" and can enhance a person's physical and spiritual well-being. One involved the mental creation of an "energy ball" that is passed back and forth between the hands. His newest book Energy Work delves into such methods in depth. Biography: Robert Bruce is an internationally respected author, mystic, and speaker. A true spiritual pioneer, the experiential depth and scope of his knowledge is remarkable. For over 30 years, Robert has explored the mechanics, energetics and dynamics of paranormal ...
