Rajasthan: Despite fast-track courts, many still await justice
As a tribute to the Delhi braveheart and several others like her, CNN-IBN follows the Agenda for Change campaign focusing on curbing crimes against women. With fast-track courts in Rajasthan, it seems the high-profile cases have seen quick judgements, but the majority of cases are still awaiting justice. CNN-IBN met the family of the JC Bose Hostel gangrape survivor. The family that had to wait for a cruelly long 15 years before they got justice for her through what's known as a fast-track court. They told Cnn-IBN how it's been a continuing lonely battle through which they find themselves drained emotionally, psychologically, socially and economically.

We are targeting corruption, not Cong: Kejriwal on Vadra
Justifying his allegations against Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra in the real estate controversy, civil society activist-turned politician Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said that his party was targeting corruption and not the Congress by putting the facts in public domain. "We have just put some facts in public domain. Robert Vadra can reply to the charges levelled against him. Why can't Vadra speak himself, why is Congress defending him?" he said while speaking to Karan Thapar on Devil's Advocate.

Lt. Col. DPK Pillay- An Extraordinary Tale of Courage, Bravery & Patriotism
Another Tale of Courage - Colonel DPK Pillay is a brave heart in every sense !! Meet a soldier who took four bullets in his arm in a pitched battle with insurgents and saved the life of two critically injured children in Manipur. Eighteen years since the incident, Colonel DPK Pillay still shares a close bond with the people of the Manipuri village. Colonel Pillay recalls that fateful day in Longdaipabram village, which is 22 kms from the district Headquarters Tamelong in Manipur. "The militants were inside the room and rather than allowing them to pick and choose and fire us at will I had to intervene. I had to enter the room. I broke the door open and I got a burst of AK-47. The first burst came on my shoulder. I got three burst here and that guy corrected himself and he got a shot on my chest. One of them hurl a grenade, I don't know how I saw the grenade in the darkness but instantly I kicked the grenade and the grenade blew on my leg, taking a portion of my leg away," he says. This could have been every soldier's tale. But what he did next is what has brought him here today. Although wounded mortally in the gun fight, Colonel Pillay decided to evacuate and save the two children hit in the crossfire instead of his own. "The nearest hospital was about 6 hours. There's no way the children would have survived. I think I knew that I had 5 minutes of life left in me and I can hang on extra bit. So I told the pilot not to worry about me," he says. The village has not ...

Gujarat poll vote projection: Modi lords over the state
For more than a decade, politics in Gujarat has been synonymous with Narendra Modi. With the Assembly elections due in a few weeks, the scenario seems to no different. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) strongman, who has ruled Gujarat with an iron hand since October 2001, has swatted all opposition with such ruthlessness that today there is no virtually no leader in the state capable of challenging him. Modi has steamrolled the opposition, which is primarily the Congress, to win two back-to-back Assembly elections and 2012 looks no different. According to a pre-poll survey conducted by the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS) for CNN-IBN, Modi-led BJP is once again set to decimate the Congress and romp home with a thumping majority. The survey interviewed 3658 voters in Gujarat and found that almost 50 per cent of them were in favour of the BJP, while the Congress was way behind with just 36 per cent.

Debate on CNN-IBN About Robert Vadra - Subramanian Swamy
Dr Subramanian Swamy in debate over Robert Vadra issue on CNN-IBN. Congressi are questioning motive behind these attacks on Robert Vadra. Dr Swamy says that he is surprised that congress party never changes its defense. He says that SC has clearly said that motive does not matter. You have to go into facts and decide that FIR should be registered or not. 1) Robert Vadra got SPG coverage which private individual doesn't get. 2) He is not searched when he go through Airports which is not for private individual 3) He got house in Lodhi state, which automatically makes him deemed Public servant. Dr Swamy says he knew about the material which Arvind Kejriwal and Prashant Bhusan brought. CBI is not investigating the Uni-Tech money trail for the same reason. These documents should be given to CBI and CBI should be asked to register an FIR. Dr Swamy said that he himself made these allegation long time back in press conferences but Indian media did not cover this issue that time. Kanimozi got unsecured loan from Sahid Balwa and she spent months in Jail then why not Robert Vadra should be investigated for this unsecured loan from DLF? West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday stormed out of a CNN-IBN show on one year of Trinamool Congress rule, accusing the audience, which consisted of students, to be Maoists and CPM cadre. ibnlive.com Mamata Banerjee (Bengali: মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়, pronounced [mɔːmoːt̪ʰaː bɛːnaːrjiː] West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday stormed out of a CNN-IBN show on one year of Trinamool Congress rule, accusing the audience, which consisted of students, to be Maoists and CPM cadre. Mamata Banerjee (Bengali: মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়, pronounced [mɔːmoːt̪ʰaː bɛːnaːrjiː]; born 5 January, 1955) is the 11th and current Chief Minister of West Bengal. She is the first woman to hold the office. Banerjee founded All India Trinamool Congress in 1997 and became chairperson, after separating from the Indian National Congress.[2][3] She is usually called "Didi" (meaning elder sister). She is often cited by the media and critics to be as "megalomaniac, eccentric and populist politician".[4][5][6] Banerjee pulled off a landslide victory for the All India Trinamul Congress (AITMC ) or (TMC) in West Bengal by defeating the world's longest-serving democratically-elected communist government, the Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led Left Front government, bringing to an end 34 years of Left Front rule in the state.[7][8][9] Banerjee previously served as a Minister of Railways twice, Minister of Coal, and Minister of State for Human ...

India Sucessfully Test Fire Agni - 5 Missile
India has successfully test-fired Agni-V, its first Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM). The missile was launched from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Wheeler Island off the Odisha coast at 8:05 this morning. The test launch was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but was postponed due to bad weather. Designed and developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) scientists, Agni-V has a range of 5000 kilometres. The three-stage missile, once validated and inducted into the armed forces after several more tests, will be India's longest-range missile which can carry nuclear warheads. 17 metres tall and 50 tonnes in weight, Agni-V's three stages are powered by solid propellants. Gangrape: Delhi Police chief says he won't quit
Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar on Sunday ruled out his resignation over the brutal gangrape of a 23-year-old paramedical student and the crackdown on the protesters at India Gate, who were demanding justice for her and stringent punishment for the culprits. Speaking to CNN-IBN Kumar said that he "did not believe in quitting" and would continue to do his job even as he admitted that his force could have handled the situation at India Gate in Sunday in a better way. "I respect the Chief Minister's opinion and I don't believe in quitting. I will continue to see that this particular investigation is taken to its logical conclusion. I will see to it that the guilty are brought to book. I don't want to be a quitter. I will keep on doing my job till the time government keeps me there," said Kumar when asked about Sheila Dikshit's statement that the highest police officer of Delhi should take responsibility for the heinous crime.
