Understanding Balinese Dance
From the www.VideoSource.com Global Village Travel Guide New HD program and Bali stock footage www.HDenvironments.com Transcript Peliatan, just to the south of Ubud, is an important center for dance. Nowhere else in Bali is so much energy concentrated on this form of expression. In addition to performing the traditional dances, to meet the needs of their community, dancers from Peliatan interpret the art form for visitors. For hands and fingers, 19 names; for the trunk , 14; For neck and shoulder movements, 20 names, and for facial expressions, at least 16. Each term defines a specific element of a rich and expressive language through which musician and dancer make visable the drama they're performing. The orchestra, known as a Gamelon, is often said to lead the dancers. But then, the most skilled ...

Traditional Balinese Dance HD
www.godsisland.tv Balinese dances are a very ancient tradition that is a part of the religious expression among the Balinese People. In Hinduism, dance is an accompaniment to the perpetual dissolving and reforming of the world. The creative and reproductive balance is often personified as Shiva's wife, Durga, sometimes called Uma, Pervati, or Kali. This has significance in Balinese Hinduism, since the common figure of Rangda is similar in many ways to Durga Bali dancers learn the craft as children from their mothers as young as age 10 (see a 11 years old dancer on the right). In Balinese dance the movement is closely associated with the rhythms produced by the gamelan, a musical ensemble specific to Java and Bali. Multiple levels of articulations in the face, eyes, hands, arms, hips, and feet are coordinated to reflect layers of percussive sounds.

Tari Manuk Rawa
This Balinese dance depicts a group of swamp birds ("Manuk"=bird, "Rawa"=swamp) from the "Wana Parwa" story of the Indian epic Mahabharata. Originally, this dance was part of a larger Mahabharata dance drama called "Bale Gala-Gala" which was performed in the Bali Arts Festival of 1980. The dance was coreographed by I Wayan Dibia and music was written by I Wayan Beratha.

Kecak Dance in Bali, Uluwatu
check this out guys - our video travelog from Asia!!! www.youtube.com I'm not really sure, should I translate in English other episods??? Kecak Dance at Uluwatu Temple, (Танец «Кечак» в Улувату) A Kecak performance is very simple. The men's chorus chants the words Cak ke-cak ke-cak ke-cak ke-cak ke-cak, in rhythm, over and over again, For this reason they are called the Kecak or Cak dance. The Kecak dances consist of about fifty men wearing only a loin-cloth, the upper part of their bodies left bare. They form rows of circles, in teh middle of which is a coconut oil lamp. The Kecak dance is performed for dance-dramas and the story presented is take from the Ramayana epic.
