1000 Tibetans
Following the request of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 2007, the Canadian government is facilitating the immigration of 1000 Tibetans living in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh to Canada over a five year period. We can help the families from this remote northeastern state of India achieve their dream by extending a hand as they start new lives in Canada. Wanting the very best for our children is something we all share, whether we live in Vancouver or 12000 kilometres away in the tiny Tibetan settlements of Arunachal Pradesh. This program is their chance to realize these dreams for themselves and us. The future of these new Canadians rests on your generosity today. www.tibet.ca/projecttibetsociety www.facebook.com/tibetresettlementproject ctcoffice@tibet.ca

former Minister Kirti Rinpoche says eight convicted Tibetans are innocent
New Delhi: - Speaking at a press conference held Saturday (2 February) in New Delhi, Kirti Rinpoche, the head lama of Kirti monasteries, where more than 30 of the 99 self-immolations occurred, spoke out against the recent conviction of eight Tibetans for allegedly inciting self-immolations. Kirti Rinpoche, a former minister of the Tibetan administration in exile strongly condemned the harsh prison sentences for eight innocent Tibetans in his homeland in Ngaba county, eastern Tibet. The six Tibetans were falsely accused of establishing links with outside groups and sending photographs of Tibetan self-immolators. Calling the sentences as unjustified and against international norms, Kirti Rinpoche said, the Chinese government is playing with the lives of innocent Tibetans and the world community should investigate what really is going on in Tibet. He said, the eight Tibetans convicted are innocent, adding that the Chinese government have arrested them only because they are relatives or friends with the Tibetan self-immolators. Kirti Rinpoche denied the charges leveled against the Tibetans and appealed the world media and international monitors to support their case and plead for justice. Eight Tibetans including Lobsang Tsering who was given a death sentence with a two year reprieve, were pronounced with varying prison terms by two Chinese courts in Ngaba and Labrang on 31 January 2013. When Rinpoche response to whyy are these self-immolation incidents concentrated in Ngaba ...

Feb13: Tibetan Independence day
Every country has an independence or national day regardless of its current political status and Tibet is no exception. February 13, 2013 will mark 100 years since Tibetans proclaimed the restoration of their independence. On Wednesday, February 13 (the 3rd day of Tibetan New Year), Tibetans and supporters worldwide will commemorate the centennial of Tibetan Independence Day -- a symbolic day that we pledge to mark every year. In occupied countries, observing independence day has become a powerful expression of a people's desire for freedom. For more info: www.sfthq.org Sign up your event today! sft.convio.net

Tibetans vs China's Xi Jinping: Gangnam Style
On the eve of the CCP's 18th Party Congress, Students for a Free Tibet and the International Tibet Network release a parody video titled "Tibetans challenge Xi Jinping - Gangnam Style." A takeoff of Korean star Psy's uber-popular Gangnam Style, the video features China's heir apparent as a dimwit -- a big-headed oaf whose only response to Tibetans' growing resistance is to arrest, beat and torture protestors. But Xi -- like the four generations of undemocratic CCP heads before him -- cannot stop Tibetans who are moving beyond fear and challenging the very foundations of Chinese rule in Tibet. Ultimately, the joke is on Xi Jinping, the soon to be leader of the unfree world and a remnant of authoritarian rulers of the past. Xi: Resolve the Tibet crisis now or Tibet will soon become your biggest headache. Join Tibet's Xi Challenge: www.xijinping-tibetchallenge.org About the making of this video: Using the power of humor and theater, this video highlights the cruelty and absurdity of the Chinese government's colonial policies in Tibet that have driven 63 Tibetans to set themselves on fire in protest of Chinese rule; 50 this year alone. It also depicts some of the creative protest tactics being used by Tibetans to challenge China's occupation, including a 2011 boycott of Chinese vegetable vendors. This video will be banned in China and Tibet but Beijing's censors cannot stop the truth from spreading: Xi Jinping, China's 5th generation leader will be the last to rule Tibet ...

The 22-year-old Tibetan girl showed true grit and stamina of steel to finish 14 seconds behind the new world record. Choeyang's performance at the grandest stage of all was also her career best. The Associated Press quoted Choeyang as saying that she as "extremely" honoured to have represented Tibetans at the games. "I'm extremely honored to take part as the first representative of the Tibetans at the Olympic Games and to win a medal," Choeyang was quoted as saying. A native of Tsochang in the traditional Tibetan province of Amdo, Choeyang, was ranked 10th in the world coming into London. Born on November 11, 1990, the Tibetan walking wonder began race walking in 2008. Two years later, she was selected in the Chinese national team. During the race, a number of Tibetan national flags could be seen flying along the 2 km course road. A banner reading, "You go girl...We Tibetans are with you," was also displayed. Soon after her win, Tibetans were abuzz on social network sites congratulating Choeyang and celebrating her achievements as a Tibetan.

China Focus - What's Behind the Sharp Rise in Tibetan Self-Immolations?
Since February 2009, 92 Tibetans have protested Chinese rule by setting themselves on fire. But amid increasing restrictions from Chinese authorities, the number of these self-immolations has increased dramatically in recent months, with 37 people self-immolating in just October and November. What's the reason behind the sharp spike in these protests? What has been the Chinese leadership's response? And is there anything that people outside China can do? Joining us on China Focus to discuss these issues is Tenzin Dorjee, the Executive Director of Students for a Free Tibet.

First representative of the Tibetans at the Olympic Games London 2012 - Qieyang Shenjie of Tibet
The 22-year-old Qieyang claimed bronze in the women's 20-kilometer race walk on Saturday, the first Tibetan athlete China has ever fielded in the Olympics. "I'm extremely honored to take part as the first representative of the Tibetans at the Olympic Games and to win a medal," said Qieyang. She comes from a family of Tibetan herders, started running as a kid on the Tibetan plateau and then joined a sports school. She said her name means "the sun" in Chinese. She said Tibetans in the London crowd encouraged her as she raced. "I heard it! Really. I heard a Tibetan cheering me on!" she said.

Tibetan Singer LOLO Arrested by Chinese Authorities for singing about Tibet's Independence
Share this Video to expose China's brutal occupation of Tibet *Click here for more Tibet videos www.youtube.com April 23, 2012: Chinese authorities in eastern Tibet have arrested a well-known Tibetan singer on suspected charges of singing songs calling for Tibet's independence. Lo Lo, 29, was arrested on April 19 in Yushul region of eastern Tibet. According to Lobsang Sangyal, an exile monk in south India, the singer's arrest came months after he released an album titled "Raise the flag of Tibet, sons of the snow." News Link: phayul.com The title song of the album calls for independence of Tibet and reunion of the Tibetan people -- messages that are common to the slogans raised by the 35 Tibetans who have self-immolated in Tibet since 2009. "To promote loyalty to the Land of Snows, For the complete independence of Tibet, With a realised understanding of our objectives, Raise the flag of Tibet- sons of the snow," a portion of the lyrics reads. In the song, Lo Lo further sings for the "return of the saviour" to Tibet and "reunion of the Tibetan people." Lo Lo's arrest is part of a wider crackdown on Tibetan intellectuals, writers, and artists, including singers and filmmakers. Tibetans promoting Tibetan national identity and culture have been the target of China's ongoing onslaught on intellectuals, especially after the 2008 Beijing Olympics. In mid February, another popular Tibetan singer, Ugyen Tenzin was arrested by the Chinese government for praising the His Holiness ...

Click here for more Tibet videos www.youtube.com The Beastie Boys perform live at the 1999 Tibetan Freedom Concert. 1999 © Home Box Office. * It is not hard to understand why Adam found inspiration in Milarepa. It is an understatement to say that Adam Yauch changed all of our lives because he changed us so completely--through his music, his activism, and his friendship. Because his presence in our lives was so large, so shall be his absence. And also his legacy. I find myself now remembering above everything else his tireless work for nonviolence & Tibet, of course, but also his amazing sense of humor. Those of us who were fortunate enough to work with him have likely never worked so hard nor laughed so much as we did when we were in his presence. Yauch also changed what it meant to be an artist-activist. I admit that when I met him, I was skeptical of him and his interest in my work (I was a human rights activist studying & living with Tibetans in Nepal; he was the guy that sang "Fight For Your Right to Party"). But I quickly realized that he was an artist and an activist in the deepest sense of the words. Himself a spiritual seeker, Adam turned his musical genius into a force for social and political justice. Taking on the biggest colonial empire on the planet, he became a fierce advocate of Tibetan freedom.
