Mike Love- "No Regrets"- original music on ukulele!
theukulelesite.com - Mike has new songs every time I see him, and they're always a musical and thought provoking experience. This one is extra special because it is the first written by him on the uke. Seems like a natural combo. He's playing a Ko'olau T100 Ash. We do our setups and photo/video on the second and third level of Ko'olau's warehouse so we are always happy to walk down the stairs and get one for the store and TheUkuleleSite. Mike stopped by on his way up to Haleiwa to check on a custom guitar Noa is building for him. It's got milo sides and back..gonna be cool. In the mean time Mike's gigging guitar has become the 4-O Pono Cedar-Acacia. BTW, He's really gonna blow you away with his upcoming solo album. Guaranteed! Join our channel and stay tuned for more cool stuff. Thanks for watching, Aloha!

Mike Love w/ Samites- "Jahwakening" -
So Mike and Samites play O'Tools together every Thursday and I have been asking them to stop by and record. Mike has loads of incredible songs not yet released and they were on their way to a gig at Banzai Sushi in Haleiwa, so they stopped by and shared this. With this song both Mike and Sam start by live recording a loop through the mixer board, Mike plays the bass line with an octave pedal and Sam lays down the groove on his Cajon. They then layer off of that and do their magic. Hope you enjoy, we plan on releasing more live footage leading up to the release of -The Mike Love Band- first album later this year. Aloha from HMS!

Mike Love - Incredibly touching tribute to The Beach Boys (with California Saga) - Grammy Museum
This is, in all honesty, a video that every Beach Boys fan should watch. For as long as we've known the trials and tribulations of this band, no one has been more misunderstood and misproperly labeled as "the villian" as Mike Love has. The band's history is far too complicated to be summed up in one sentence or a quick overview. The truth is, none of us were there. We don't know what really went on. But these guys were. Mike was there. He saw it from the inside. While taking a few moments to say a few words about California Saga, Mike let's us all in and allows us inside to share some of the feelings that he's so carefully put away all these years. The emotions are raw and without filter. The entire evening was a product of the music healing old scars. That's what Beach Boys music does--it soothes and heals. Cal Saga came together to create a special moment by bringing their parent's obscurer songs back to life and in the process were able to bring in the late Carl and Dennis Wilson to join them in spirit. Everyone in the room felt their presence, no doubt. And this included Mike, as you can see here. After the show, a friend and I tried to articulate exactly why the evening moved us as much as it did. I think it was sort of a weird collection of confused emotions that we as fans kept locked away much in the same way that Mike Love seems to have done. As Mike started to get choked up, we all went there with him too. He needed to get through those feelings and so did we ...

The Holstee Manifesto is a call to action to live a life full of intention, creativity, passion, and community.
The LifeCycle Film came about as a desire to bring the energy and passion behind the Manifesto to life through something we love--biking. As we seek to live mindful lifestyles that leave a positive impact on the people and world around us, biking has become a passion that is much more than a transportation alternative. It is a way of fully experiencing the city we love and all of its details.
This Film is a celebration. It is a celebration of gatherings, of diversity, of life, and of the beauty of shared experience. We hope you enjoy.

This is SuicideGirls love letter to Belle and Sebastian. NSFW
I have been a HUGE Belle and Sebastian fan since my best friend put "The State I'm In" on a mix CD we played incessantly on a cross country road trip.
When their new album Write About Love came out and had a song called "Suicidegirl" on it, I had a complete fan girl moment which indie rockers are supposed to be too cool for.
When I told the other girls we were all so honored that we decide we had to do something to let them know how much we loved it. Carrina, Cheri and I got together with Mike Marshall who made our other movies and created our video ode to Belle and Sebastian.
Hope you like it!
xoxo

Nikon - WHY
Nikon D4 Release Video
It's here! The Nikon D4 has arrived and it is a freaking HOT camera! For the past months I have been working in silence with an amazingly talented crew and three of the best athletes on the planet producing my short D4 launch film "WHY". It was like Christmas morning when Nikon called and described the new camera and all of its incredible features. All I could think was that this is the camera we have been waiting for. Then the gift of all gifts... "Corey, dream up a film that you would like to shoot. You pick the topic. You pick the location. It's your film... only requirement is you show off the features of the new camera." My favorite quote from the call was "You have a blank white canvas and it's up to you to fill it". I had to pinch myself several times to confirm that the call was real. Everyone involved has been tight lipped about the project for months and today we can finally begin to share some of the assets and get fired up about the camera!!!
I have always been facinated by those people that are the best at what they do. Those that operate on the edge; scientists, artists, musicians, athletes, etc. Always the question that I find myself asking is "WHY"? What deep inside drives them? What does the world look like through their eyes? Those that live on the edge, push the envelope, redefine sports and industries operate in a space all to themselves. In my Nikon D4 launch film I wanted to visually portray the beauty and intensity of the athletes doing what they do best while also delving into their heads and answering the question "WHY"? There was a very simple list of criteria used when selecting the athletes for this film. 1. They needed to be the best in the world at what they do. 2. They needed to be true role modes / heros. (In short, no ego and just simply fantastic people). Dane, Rebecca and Alex fulfill the requirements in spades!
As it seems to be with many shoots, the schedule for WHY was INSANE! In just 13 days we went from Veracruz, Mexico to Moab, Utah to Joshua Tree, California. With a fantastic crew of eight amazingly talented people, three of the worlds best athletes, over 20 pieces of luggage, three D4 prototypes, an rc helicopter and enough RedBull and ClifBars to keep us awake and moving, the entire journey was epic! Huge days, little sleep, lost bags, crashed helicopter (the D4 lived), speeding tickets (talked our way out of both ;-), wicked mosquito bites, flu, and a trip to the urgent care - all the prerequisites for a great shoot. Just the way I like it!
Special thanks to everyone that helped on this production! Dane Henry, Shawn Corrigan, Rex Lint, Mike Hagadorn; you guys are studs! Blaine Deutsch and Marina Rich, thank you for keeping us all on track, organized, fed and looking good (and Marina, thanks for loving me and being the best wife in the world). Gen Umei, Soichi Hayashi, Jason Jenkins and Mike Corrado; thank you for the opportunity! Dane Jackson, Alex Honnold and Rebecca Rusch, you guys really made the film and answered the question WHY!!! Tommy Thompson and Chris McNamara; thanks for keeping us safe and getting me into the coolest camera positions possible! Amazing team and thank you everyone who helped!
When it is all said and done by far the most exciting part is the future. It's about the collective creativity and vision of the photo and video community and what we will all create when we get a D4 in our hands. One thing is for certain, WHY was just the tip of the iceberg!
