The NFL on Dial Global presented by Westwood One Sports (formerly known as The NFL on Westwood One and The NFL on CBS Radio) is the brand name given to weekly National Football League games carried on the radio over the Dial Global Radio Network. Dial Global's parent Triton Media Group purchased the Westwood One radio network and its properties in October 2011 and beginning in January 2012, the Dial Global name was attached to the broadcasts with the NFL coverage, along with Westwood One's college sports coverage, bearing the name "Westwood One on the Dial Global Radio Network". Prior to the acquisition of Westwood One Dial Global had distributed games for the Sports USA Radio Network, doing so from 2002 on under the Jones Radio Networks banner originally and keeping it until Westwood One assumed distribution rights in 2009. Prior to the Westwood One branding, all NFL broadcasts on the network carried the CBS Radio Sports branding.

The NFL on Westwood One package includes two weekly Sunday afternoon games, the Sunday Night Football game, the Monday Night Football game, the Thanksgiving Day games, Thursday Night Football (beginning in 2006), any late-season Friday and Saturday night games, the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game, the season-opening NFL Kickoff Game, all playoff games, the Super Bowl, and the Pro Bowl. These games are distributed throughout the United States, Canada (via TSN Radio), and (via BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra) the United Kingdom. (For special events such as the NFL International Series and the Super Bowl, the BBC uses its own announcers.)

Westwood One was an American radio network and was based in New York City. At one time, it was managed by CBS Radio, the radio arm of CBS Corporation, and Viacom (1971–2005) and was later purchased by the private equity firm The Gores Group. Due to purchases, mergers and other forms of consolidation in the 1980s and 1990s, at one time or another, it had ownership stakes in or syndication rights to some of the most famous brands in network radio, including CBS, NBC, Mutual, CNN, Fox and Unistar. The company was one of the largest producers and distributors of radio programming in the United States. It broadcast entertainment, news, weather, sports, talk, and traffic programming to about 7,700 radio stations across the United States. The company was the U.S.'s top provider of local traffic reports through its subsidiaries, Metro Networks, Shadow Broadcast Services, SmartRoute Systems, and Sigalert.com. Westwood One also offers weather services; originally using Accuweather, Westwood switched to The Weather Channel in 2009.

Tracy O'Neil Porter (born August 11, 1986) is an American football cornerback for the Denver Broncos of the National Football League. He was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He played college football at Indiana.

Porter attended Port Allen High School, where he played quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and cornerback. He earned first team All-District 3A honors in his first year of organized football as a junior and second-team as a senior after recording 93 tackles and 11 interceptions.

Porter played college football for the Indiana University Hoosiers from 2004-2007. During his senior year he earned All-Big Ten Conference first-team. He finished his career second in Indiana Hoosiers history with 16 career interceptions and first in interception yards with 413. He also became the first player in school history to return a punt, interception and fumble for touchdowns in his career. He finished his career with 212 tackles and 16 interceptions.

Marv Albert (born Marvin Philip Aufrichtig; June 12, 1941) is an American sportscaster. Honored for his work as a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, he is commonly referred to as "the voice of basketball." From 1967–2004, he was also known as "the voice of the New York Knicks."

Including Super Bowl XLII, Marv has called the play-by-play of six Super Bowls, NBA Finals and seven Stanley Cup Finals. He has also called the Wimbledon Tennis Championships for TNT with Jim Courier and Mary Carillo. He also worked as a co-host and reporter for two World Series (1986 and 1988).

Albert currently works for TNT and CBS. He is TNT's lead NBA voice, calls NFL games for CBS, and also calls NCAA tournament action for CBS and Turner Sports.

Albert was born to a Jewish family in Brooklyn, where he went to Abraham Lincoln High School. While growing up, members of Albert's family owned a grocery store on Brighton Beach Avenue between 3rd and 4th streets known as Aufrichtig's. He then attended Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communications from 1960 through 1963. He then graduated from New York University in 1965.

A sideline Reporter is someone, typically a professional journalist, who is a member of a broadcast crew for an event, who assists with additional coverage on the field, rink, pit, court or anywhere else. Often the sideline reporter makes special updates on injuries, breaking news and conducts interviews, since the play-by-play broadcaster and color commentator must remain in their main broadcast position.

Jim Lampley is largely considered, by most, to be the first sideline reporter.^[who?] In Lampley's telling, the job grew out of the wreckage of the 1972 Munich Olympics, where new wireless technology was put to such vital use in ABC's quicksilver coverage of the Israeli hostage crisis and the subsequent massacre. Says Lampley: "Months later, they asked, 'What else could we do? Would it work in a football stadium? Could we put someone on the sidelines?'" The first broadcast with a sideline reporter was the UCLA vs. Tennessee football game in 1974.

Most people^[who?] believe that sideline reporters are nothing more than a pretty face. After controversies with multiple sideline reporters such as Jenn Sterger, or Ines Sainz, that sterotype has been furthered. Sideline reporters are actually very hard working and knowledgable parts of a broadcast team. Lots of preparation and research is needed to be on the top of your game. Lampley's replacement in 1977 was Anne Simon. Many sideline reporters have moved on to have great success in the broadcast booth, studio jobs, commercials, acting roles.
