The Likoni Ferry is a boat service across the Kilindini Harbour, serving both the island city of Mombasa and the Kenyan mainland town of Likoni. Two double-ended ferries alternate across the harbour, carrying both road and foot traffic. The ferries are operated by the Kenya Ferry Services (KFS), and is the only remaining ferry service by KFS. The Likoni ferry started operting in 1937. Passenger services are free while vehicles have to pay a ferry toll.
The Mombasa side terminal of the Likoni line is located at the southern end of the Mombasa Island. The distance of the line is about 500 metres.
Apart from the main Likoni line, there is a passenger-only peak hour service between Mtongwe and Mombasa island next to Bandari College. It crosses the Kilindini Creek few kilometres west of the Kilindini line.
There are five operating ferries.MV Mvita and MV Pwani were bought in 1969 and 1974, respectively. MV Nyayo, MV Harambee and MV Kilindini were bought second hand in 1990. KFS is in process to buy two new ferries, but the order was repeatedly delayed. The two arrived in June 2010. They have been christened as MV Kwale and MV Likoni
Likoni ( /lɪˈkoʊniː/) is a division of Mombasa District, Kenya, and is located to the south-west of the island.
Likoni is the site of the southern terminus of the Likoni Ferry, a double ended ferry serving road traffic and pedestrians from both Likoni and Mombasa island. Likoni also has a high concentration of Boda-boda services. Matatus bound for the southern districts of Kenya use the Likoni Ferry to cross the Likoni Creek.
In the autumn of 1997, six policemen were killed when local raiders armed with traditional weapons and guns rampaged through the area. A police station and outpost were destroyed, along with countless market stalls and offices. Many non-local Kenyans were either killed or maimed, as the raiders targeted Luo, Luhya, Kamba and Kikuyu communities. It was estimated that ten police officers and thirty-seven raiders were killed in the clashes. The remainder of fatalities were in the local community
In the science fiction video game Halo 2, Likoni is the location of a 26th-century slum known as Old Mombasa. Although the area is heavily built-up with aging offices and apartments constructed centuries prior, the area also exhibits many examples of even older, more traditional Muslim and Portuguese architecture, a style modeled after Old Town Makadara on Mombasa Island.
Lucky (No Fear)

If there's a girl out there who could likely care
then there's still some hope for me.
But I'm a love lost cause so I'll stay indoors,
Oh and watching my T.V.
And I never get lucky, lucky, lucky. Oh no, not me.
For a night on the town you invited me round
for a party at your place.
But when I tried it on it all went horrible wrong
and now I'm sleeping with your cat.
Cause I never get lucky, lucky, lucky. Oh no, not me.
No, no, no, no say it's not me.
No, no, no, no say it's not me.
Lucky, lucky, lucky. Oh no, not me.
Well I was drinking red wine when I lost my mind
down the back of your settee.
You've got a really nice place but I'm off my face
and I can't stand up no more.
Cause I never get lucky, lucky, aww lucky. Oh no, not me.
No, no, no, no, no, no.
No, no, no, no say it's not me!
No, no, no, no say it's not me!
No, no, no, no say it's not me!
No, no, no, no say it's not me!
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no say it's not me!
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no say it's not me!
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no say it's not me!
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no say it's not me!
