Trabzon
Trabzon (see other names, Turkish pronunciation: [ˈtrabzon]) is a city on the Black Sea coast of northeastern Turkey and the capital of Trabzon Province. Trabzon, located on the historical Silk Road, became a melting pot of religions, languages and culture for centuries and a trade gateway to Persia (Iran) in the southeast and the Caucasus to the northeast. The Venetian and Genoese merchants paid visits to Trebizond during the medieval period and sold silk, linen and woolen fabric; the Republic of Genoa had an important merchant colony within the city called Leonkastron that played a role to Trebizond similar to the one Galata played to Constantinople (modern Istanbul). Trabzon formed the basis of several states in its long history and was the capital city of the Empire of Trebizond between 1204 and 1461. During the early modern period, Trabzon, because of the importance of its port, became a focal point of trade to Iran and the Caucasus. The population of the urban center is 1,254,350 (2011 census).

Trabzon (electoral district)
Trabzon is an electoral district of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. It elects 6 members of parliament (deputies) to represent the province of the same name for a four-year term by the D'Hondt method, a party-list proportional representation system.
Members
Population reviews of each electoral district are conducted before each general election, which can lead to certain districts being granted a smaller or greater number of parliamentary seats. Trabzon's seat allocation has fluctuated over the last thirty years between six, seven and eight seats. This was last revised downwards to 6 seats ahead of the 2011 vote.
There are currently six sitting members of parliament representing Trabzon: four from the governing party and two from opposition parties.

1461 Trabzon
1461 Trabzon is a professional Turkish football club located in the city of Trabzon. Formed in 1998 as Değirmenderespor, the club changed its name to Trabzon Karadenizspor in 2008. The club colours are maroon, blue and white, and they play their home matches at Hüseyin Avni Aker Stadium.
History
The club was founded in 1998 as Değirmenderespor and played in the Trabzon amateur league. After the club gained promotion to the 2.Lig in 2008, Trabzonspor bought the club as a local affiliate and rebranded the team Trabzon Karadenizspor. Because of this, the club is mostly made up of Trabzonspor A2 players on loan or former Trabzonspor A2 players.
The reason for the number 1461 before the club's name is that in the year 1461 Empire of Trebizond was invaded and occupied by the Ottoman Empire.
In the season of 2012–2013 the team has won the matches against both Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe in the Turkish Cup. Both matches were away games. 1461 Trabzon finished TFF First League in third place and gained rights to play in the playoff games for the promotion to the Süper Lig but were not allowed by the TFF because of being the local affiliate of Trabzonspor. In Turkish football league system reserve teams are not allowed to play in the same league as the main club.

Trabzon Turkey has blown us away with its natural beauty.
Trabzon is a city on the Black Sea coast of northeast Turkey. Built as a church in the 13th century, the city's Hagia Sophia has served as a hospital and a museum, but today is a mosque with restored ceiling frescoes.
We took the bus from: Otobüs Duragi (close to Fatih Park)
Over the 48 hours we spent:

Karşılaşmaya iyi başlayan bordo-mavililer, 8. dakikada Denis Draguş'un golüyle 1-0 öne geçti. Rumen futbolcu, Trabzonspor formasıyla Trendyol Süper Lig'deki ilk golünü kaydetmiş oldu.
İlk yarı sona ermeden penaltı kazanan Corendon Alanyaspor, 44. dakikada Hadergjonaj'ın kullandığı penaltıda skoru 1-1 yaparak devreye eşitlikle girdi.
İkinci yarıda daha etkili olan ev sahibi takım, 50. dakikada Augusto'nun golüyle 2-1 öne geçti ve karşılaşmadan 3 puanla ayrıldı.
Öte yandan karşılaşmanın 70. dakikasında Corendon Alanyasporlu futbolcu Yusuf Özdemir, ikinci sarıdan kırmızı kart görerek takımını 10 kişi bıraktı.
Trabzonspor'un 90+7. dakikada Enis Destan ile bulduğu gol, faul nedeniyle iptal edildi.
Bu sonuçla birlikte ligde puanını 14 yapan Akdeniz ekibi, 15. sıraya yükseldi. Trabzonspor ise 15 puanla 12. sırada kaldı.

And so as the last decade has seen an unprecedented dominance of a select few ‘big’ clubs winning almost every trophy available, we have missed out on those new stories that football so brilliantly tells.
So last season we sent Eli Mengem on a journey, to document the few ‘smaller’ clubs who somehow did have a chance at winning something, in order to share the new stories we’ve all been missing out on.
From the south of Spain to the north of Turkey to the south west of Germany, Once in a lifetime is a new series telling the story of three very different clubs made up of three very different people, in three very different places, that all share one thing in common. A very long wait to win something.
For Episode 2, we headed to Trabzon, home to Trabzonspor, the only non Istanbul team who had the audacity to consistently compete with the big Turkish clubs on and off the pitch.
With the club on the verge of winning their first 'official' title in 38 years, we headed to the city on the week of the deciding game. What we came across was a story, a fanbase, and a match day atmosphere that was as memorable as anything we have ever come across.

Trabzon (Turkish pronunciation: [ˈtɾabzon]), originally the Greek city known as Tραπεζούς in Greek, and Trebizond in English, is a city on the Black Sea coast of northeastern Turkey and the capital of Trabzon Province. Trabzon, located on the historical Silk Road, became a melting pot of religions, languages and culture for centuries and a trade gateway to Persia in the southeast and the Caucasus to the northeast. The Venetian and Genoese merchants paid visits to Trebizond during the medieval period and sold silk, linen and woolen fabric.
Both republics had merchant colonies within the city – Leonkastron and the former 'Venetian castle – that played a role to Trebizond similar to the one Galata played to Constantinople (modern Istanbul). Trabzon formed the basis of several states in its long history and was the capital city of the Empire of Trebizond between 1204 and 1461. During the early modern period, Trabzon, because of the importance of its port, again became a focal point of trade to Persia and the Caucasus.

Trabzon Turkey has blown us away with its natural beauty.
Trabzon is a city on the Black Sea coast of northeast Turkey. Built as a church in the 13th century, the city's Hagia Sophia has served as a hospital and a museum, but today is a mosque with restored ceiling frescoes.
We took the bus from: Otobüs Duragi (close to Fatih Park)

Trabzon
Trabzon (see other names, Turkish pronunciation: [ˈtrabzon]) is a city on the Black Sea coast of northeastern Turkey and the capital of Trabzon Province. Trabzon, located on the historical Silk Road, became a melting pot of religions, languages and culture for centuries and a trade gateway to Persia (Iran) in the southeast and the Caucasus to the northeast. The Venetian and Genoese merchants paid visits to Trebizond during the medieval period and sold silk, linen and woolen fabric; the Republic of Genoa had an important merchant colony within the city called Leonkastron that played a role to Trebizond similar to the one Galata played to Constantinople (modern Istanbul). Trabzon formed the basis of several states in its long history and was the capital city of the Empire of Trebizond between 1204 and 1461. During the early modern period, Trabzon, because of the importance of its port, became a focal point of trade to Iran and the Caucasus. The population of the urban center is 1,254,350 (2011 census).

Football, more than any other sport, is about sharing stories. Stories about places, stories about people, stories about culture.
And so as the last decade has seen an unprecedented dominance of a select few ‘big’ clubs winning almost every trophy available, we have missed out on those new stories that football so brilliantly tells.
So last season we sent Eli Mengem on a journey, to document the few ‘smaller’ clubs who somehow did have a chance at winning something, in order to share the new stories we’ve all been missing out on.
From the south of Spain to the north of Turkey to the south west of Germany, Once in a lifetime is a new series telling the story of three very different clubs made up of three very different people, in three very different places, that all share one thing in common. A very long wait to win something.
For Episode 2, we headed to Trabzon, home to Trabzonspor, the only non Istanbul team who had the audacity to consistently compete with the big Turkish clubs on and off the pitch.
With the club on the verge of winning their first 'official' title in 38 years, we headed to the city on the week of the deciding game. What we came across was a story, a fanbase, and a match day atmosphere that was as memorable as anything we have ever come across.
This is Once In a Lifetime.

Trabzon (Turkish pronunciation: [ˈtɾabzon]), originally the Greek city known as Tραπεζούς in Greek, and Trebizond in English, is a city on the Black Sea coast of northeastern Turkey and the capital of Trabzon Province. Trabzon, located on the historical Silk Road, became a melting pot of religions, languages and culture for centuries and a trade gateway to Persia in the southeast and the Caucasus to the northeast. The Venetian and Genoese merchants paid visits to Trebizond during the medieval period and sold silk, linen and woolen fabric.
Both republics had merchant colonies within the city – Leonkastron and the former 'Venetian castle – that played a role to Trebizond similar to the one Galata played to Constantinople (modern Istanbul). Trabzon formed the basis of several states in its long history and was the capital city of the Empire of Trebizond between 1204 and 1461. During the early modern period, Trabzon, because of the importance of its port, again became a focal point of trade to Persia and the Caucasus.
