20th Century World Leaders and His Difference...
en.wikipedia.org 20th Century Leaders and The Difference of Ataturk , Subtitles by Dizitube Mustafa Kemal Atatürk (b. 1881 in Selânik, Ottoman Empire -- d. November 10, 1938 in Istanbul, Turkey) was an army officer, revolutionary statesman, and founder of the Republic of Turkey as well as its first President. Mustafa Kemal established himself as a successful and extremely capable military commander while serving as a division commander at the Battle of Gallipoli. He later fought with distinction on the eastern Anatolian and Palestinian fronts, making a name for himself during World War I.[2] Following the defeat of the Ottoman Empire at the hands of the Allies, and the subsequent plans for its partition, Mustafa Kemal led the Turkish national movement in what would become the Turkish War of Independence. Having established a provisional government in Ankara, he defeated the forces sent by the Entente powers. His successful military campaigns led to the liberation of the country and to the establishment of the Republic of Turkey. As the first President of Turkey, Atatürk embarked upon a major programme of political, economic and cultural reforms. An admirer of the Enlightenment, Atatürk sought to transform the ruins of the Ottoman Empire into a modern, democratic, secular, nation-state. The principles of Atatürk's reforms are often referred to as Kemalism and continue to form the political foundation of the modern Turkish state. World War I II leaders countries england uk ...

FAMOUS TURKISH AMERICANS / TURKS IN AMERICA
History The presence of Turks in the Americas dates to the 17th century. However, there is little authoritative evidence for this claim other than archives dating from the Ottoman Empire. The biggest migration from the Ottoman Empire to the new continent was driven after slavery became illegal. It is known that approximately 7000 Turks mostly from the small Anatolian city of Elazığ worked on the Ford Motor Company assembly line in Detroit. The onset of World War I was a turning point for many Turks who had come to America. Several hundred Turks returned to Turkey and joined the Ottoman Army. Most Turks stayed in America and some Turks enlisted in the American military. However, upon knowledge of the allied occupation of Istanbul and Greek occupation of Izmir, fights broke out between Turks and Greeks in factories and streets and about half of the Turkish community in the United States returned to Turkey to fight against the invading foreign forces in what is now known as the Turkish War for Independence. A second exodus of Turks occurred during the Great Depression. Turkish President Mustafa Kemal Atatürk sent Turkish ships to America, offering free passage home to any Turk who would leave, so many Turks took up the offer and returned to Turkey. The second wave of migration came right after World War II when the United States accepted the Alien Registration Act. After this date, especially elite Turkish academics migrated to the United States for better educational ...

Azeri Folk Music, Ensemble Kür - Arası Ayırdılar
A song titled "They seperated Aras", which I dedicate to Azeri-Turkish nation that was divided by an agreement signed by two states which were not really representing the Azeris. Azeri Turks, the nation ruled Iran for centuries now have to live in two different countries: South Azerbaijan which is now under Iranian rule and North Azerbaijan that is an independent state got its independence from Russians in 1991 like many other members of USSR. Unfortunately, Iran's Azeri Turks aren't as lucky as their brothers and sisters live in independent Azerbaijan. The numbers are not very certain but with a realistic view, we can say: There are 30-35 millions Azeri Turks in Iran, much more crowded than North Azerbaijans Azeris (8 million) Most of Iranian Turks consider themselves as founders of Iran and they're very right in doing so. Cause they have a very long history still has a great influence in Iran. Ghaznavid Empire, Great Seljuq Empire, Safavid Empire... Iran was ruled by many Turkic dynasties. Iran's official sect, Shia, was accepted in era of Safavid Shah Ismail who was an Azeri Turk. Safavid Empire of Azeri Safavid dynasty lived about 250 years and left so many pieces in Iran. Even Iran name which means land of Aryans in Farsi, was given to Iran by Azeri Turks. In times of those Turkic dynasties all ethnicities lived in peace and they had no any troubles in speaking Farsi or Turkish or Kurdish..etc. But in Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavii's era, a kind of Persianization ...

OTTOMAN EMPIRE WAR SONG (MEHTER MARŞI) (الدولة العثمانية) (Ottoman Navy Pictures)
Ottoman History Picture Archives (Osmanlı Tarihi Resim Arşivleri) www.facebook.com History of the Ottoman Navy The Ottoman Navy was once the largest sea power in the Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea, Red Sea, Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean; entering the history books of many countries in distant lands such as the British Isles, Scandinavia, Iceland, Labrador, Gulf of Saint Lawrence, Newfoundland and Virginia in the west, to India, Indonesia and Malaysia in the east, and Madagascar in the south. In 1453 the Ottoman fleet participated in the historic conquests of Constantinople (Istanbul), Gökçeada, Lemnos and Thasos. In 1462 the Ottoman fleet conquered the Genoese islands of the northern Aegean Sea, including Lesbos. This was followed by the Ottoman-Venetian War of 1463--1479. In the following period the Ottoman fleet gained more territory in the Aegean Sea, and in 1475 set foot on Crimea on the northern shores of the Black Sea. Until 1499 this was followed by further expansion on the Black Sea coasts (such as the conquest of Georgia in 1479) and on the Balkan peninsula (such as the final reconquest of Albania in 1497, and the conquest of Montenegro in 1499). The loss of Venetian forts in Montenegro, near the strategic Castelnuovo, triggered the Ottoman-Venetian War of 1499--1503, during which the Turkish fleet of Kemal Reis defeated the Venetian forces at the Battle of Zonchio (1499) and the Battle of Modon (1500). By 1503 the Ottoman fleet raided the northeastern Adriatic ...

GREEK - TURKISH Turkish songs recorded by Greeks in USA (old)
A series of Turkish songs recorded in America by Greek immigrants in the 1920s. Marika Papagika was from the island of Kos (born when it was still Ottoman), Achilleas Poulos, who recorded mostly in Turkish, was from Bursa (maybe Bandirma), Amalia Baka was a Greek speaking Romaniote Jew from Yanina, Epiros who was known as Kyria Amalia in her earlier recordings, M. Cazes sang for most of the recordings by the Stamboul Quartet whose members were mostly Sephardic or Romaniote Jews. Most immigrants from the then Ottoman Empire were non-Moslem, but had a shared musical culture with Moslem Turks, especially urban music.

Özü Türk - (Karaim- Karaylar-Khazars- Qarays) Part 8
Khazars and Karaims Prince Bulan, the ruling Khagan of the Turkish Khazar Empire (not the whole Khazar population) was converted to Karaism by Isaac Sangari, whose grave is in the Karaim cemetery, Balti timez, in Josophate valley of Chufut-Kale (Qirq Yer) in Bakhchisarai, Crimea. There is another supposition that the conversion of local inhabitants of Crimea to Karaism occurred not in Khazar times, but later, during or after the Mongol rule, under the influence of the newcomers from Byzantium. This could explain the Turkish language of the local Karaites, their Tatar appearance and way of life, and the political independence of the Karaites of Chufut-Kale. However, the genetic studies, point to their Khazar origin. Today Turkic Karaims are nearly all from Crimea. Over the years, they moved and settled in Lithuania, Poland, other parts of Ukraine, Russia, Turkey, Israel, France, and the United States. It is assumed that the number of Karaims in the world is less than 5000 today.

GOD BLESS TURKISH MILITARY
The Middle East propaganda mills have focussed their benevolent attention these past two weeks on the activities of three hostile armies-- Russian, Turkish, and Syrian--currently maneuvering along frontiers where hostile armies have maneuvered for centuries. History offers all parties involved an ample list of unsettled grievances to justify their current posturing, but this time big- power involvement makes the stakes higher and more dangerous than ever before. In this unfunny game, Western political and military power is represented primarily by the large and well-trained Turkish army, built up by American aid and strongly committed to membership in NATO. The contrast between this tough atomic-age force and the red-hatted Janissaries of the Ottoman past represents one of the more startling recent transformations of a country driven by a compelling desire for social and economic progress. But the traditional discipline and wariness toward foreigners nonetheless remain the chief characteristics of the Turks, even while their scimitars and blunderbusses have given way to massive quantities of American-made mechanized equipment. Charged with holding NATO's southern flank and the entire Middle East from Communist penetration, the 500000-man Turkish army forms the largest national contribution to the West's European forces. Along with the somewhat less impressive army of neighboring Greece--currently distracted from full co-operation by the divisive Cyprus issue--the Turkish ...

Roman Empire & Republic Conquests [509 BC - 476 AD]
Ancient Rome was a civilization that grew out of a small agricultural community founded on the Italian Peninsula as early as the 10th century BC. Located along the Mediterranean Sea, it became one of the largest empires in the ancient world. In its centuries of existence, Roman civilization shifted from a monarchy to an oligarchic republic to an increasingly autocratic empire. It came to dominate South-Western Europe, South-Eastern Europe/Balkans and the Mediterranean region through conquest and assimilation. The Western Roman Empire went into decline and disappeared in the 5th century AD. Plagued by internal instability and attacked by various migrating peoples, the western part of the empire, including Hispania, Gaul, Britannia and Italy, broke up into independent kingdoms in the 5th century. The Eastern Roman Empire, otherwise known as the Byzantine Empire, was governed from Constantinople, comprising Greece, parts conquered by the First Bulgarian Empire, Anatolia, Syria and Egypt, survived this crisis, and despite the loss of Syria and Egypt to the Arab Islamic Empire, revived and would live on for another millennium, until its last remains were finally annexed by the emerging Turkish Ottoman Empire. This eastern, Christian, medieval stage of the Empire is usually referred to as the Byzantine Empire by historians. Roman civilization is often grouped into "classical antiquity" with ancient Greece, a civilization that inspired much of the culture of ancient Rome ...

Byzantium, The Lost Empire: 1. Building the Dream
See all 4 parts of this series here: www.youtube.com For more than 1000 years, the Byzantine Empire was the eye of the entire world -- the origin of great literature, fine art and modern government. Heir to Greece and Rome, the Byzantine Empire was also the first Christian empire. After a year of filming on three continents, TLC unlocks this ancient civilization, spanning 11 centuries and three continents. Pass through the gates of Constantinople, explore the magnificent mosque of Hagia Sophia and see the looted treasures of the empire now located in St. Marks, Venice. Byzantium, brings to life an empire that, while seemingly distant, is very closely linked to the evolution of Western Civilization. Traces the growth of the first Christian empire, one that lasted for over a thousand years and the maturity and decline of Byzantium through its conquest by the Ottoman Turks in 1453. John Romer, the author and on-screen guide for the series, breathes life into the city and the powerful ideas that made the Byzantium a thriving cultural and commercial center while western Europe was slogging through the Dark Ages and the Middle Ages. At its height, Byzantium housed the most precious Christian relics, including a piece of Christ's cross. Located on the border of Europe and Asia, it ruled an empire that extended across Asia Minor and the Balkans. Then, after the rise of Islam, the empire shrank until little was left outside the city walls. Byzantium turned to Europe for help in ...

ANATOLIA, ANADOLU, LAND OF MOTHERS, FILLED WITH MOTHERS...
The name ANATOLIA (in Turkish it means "Land of Mothers" or "Land Filled with Mothers") comes from the Greek "Aνατολή" (anatolē) meaning the "East" or more literally "sunrise". ANTIQITY: Ancient regions of Anatolia: Eastern Anatolia contains the oldest monumental structures in the world. For example, the monumental structures at Göbekli Tepe (12.000 BC) were built by hunters and gatherers a thousand years before the development of agriculture. Eastern Anatolia is also a heart region for the Neolithic revolution, one of the earliest areas in which humans domesticated plants and animals. Neolithic sites such as Çatalhöyük, Çayönü, Nevali Cori and Hacilar represent the world's oldest known agricultural villages. The earliest historical records of Anatolia are from the Akkadian Empire under Sargon in the 24th century BC. The region was famous for exporting various raw materials. The Assyrian Empire claimed the resources, notably silver. One of the numerous Assyrian cuneiform records found in Anatolia at Kanesh uses an advanced system of trading computations and credit lines. Unlike the Akkadians and the Assyrians, whose Anatolian possessions were peripheral to their core lands in Mesopotamia, the Hittites were centred at Hattusa in north-central Anatolia. They were speakers of an Indo-European language known as the "language of Nesa". Originating from Nesa, they conquered Hattusa in the 18th century BC, imposing themselves over a Hurrian speaking population. During the Late ...
