Kama Sutra: Discussion (1/3)
Kama Sutra: Discussion (1/3)
*Discussion on the Kama Sutra, one of the most celebrated and often misunderstood texts of Indian literature. Probably composed during the reign of the Gupta dynasty around 1800 years ago, the work is a collection of writings about the art of love and sensual pleasure. Although it is best known today for a single chapter devoted to sexual pleasure, this important Sanksrit collection contains much besides. In particular it teaches the attainment of Kama (pleasure), one of the central goals of Hinduism. The Kama Sutra is a manual to a life of fulfilment, offering advice on such subjects as finding a spouse and how to behave in marriage; it has had a profound influence on Indian culture and thought.*

The Upperkot fort (Junagadh - Gujarat - India)
The Upperkot fort (Junagadh - Gujarat - India)
(EN) Junagadh is a city and a municipal corporation, the headquarters of Junagadh district in the Indian state of Gujarat. The city is located at the foot of the Girnar hills. Literally translated, Junagadh means "Old Fort". It is also known as "Sorath", the name of the earlier Princely State of Junagadh. An impressive fort, Uperkot, located on a plateau in the middle of town, was originally built during the Mauryan dynasty by Chandragupta in 319 BCE The fort remained in use until the 6th century, when it was covered over for 300 years, then rediscovered in 976 CE The fort was besieged 16 times over an 800-year period. One unsuccessful siege lasted twelve years. An inscription with fourteen Edicts of Ashoka is found on a large boulder within 2 km of Uperkot Fort. The inscriptions carry Brahmi script in Pali language and date back to 250 BCE On the same rock are inscriptions in Sanskrit added around 150 CE by Mahakshatrap Rudradaman I, the Saka (Scythian) ruler of Malwa, a member of the Western Kshatrapas dynasty Another inscription dates from about 450 CE and refers to Skandagupta, the last Gupta emperor. Old rock-cut Buddhist "caves" in this area, dating from well before 500 CE, have stone carvings and floral work. There are also the Khapra Kodia Caves north of the fort, and the Babupyana Caves south of the fort. The Maitraka dynasty ruled Gujarat in western India from 475 to 767 CE The founder of the dynasty, general Bhatarka, a military governor of Saurashtra peninsula <b>...</b>

Learn Siddham - Part 1
Learn Siddham - Part 1
Siddhaṃ (Sanskrit सिद्धं, "accomplished" or "perfected") — is the name of a North Indian script used for writing Sanskrit during the period ca 600-1200 CE. Descended from the Brahmi script via the Gupta script, which also gave rise to the Devanāgarī script as well as a number of other Asian scripts such as Tibetan script. There is some confusion over the spelling: Siddhāṃ and Siddhaṃ are both common. The script is a refinement of the script used during the Indian Gupta Empire. The name arose from the practice of writing the word Siddhaṃ, or Siddhaṃ rastu (may there be perfection) at the head of documents. World History Journey Across Time Chapter 6 Early India
World History Journey Across Time Chapter 6 Early India
World History Journey Across Time Chapter 6 Early India The subcontinent of India is home to five nations: India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh. Climate and geography influenced the rise of India's first civilization, which arose in the Indus River valley. The monsoon seasons dominate the climate. The Harappans—India's first civilization—were farmers. Their ruins suggest that they were both peaceful and prosperous. Around 1500 BC, the Aryans—a nomadic people—invaded and destroyed the Harappan civilization. The Aryans settled in India. They became excellent farmers, and they invented new farm tools using their ironworking skills. The Aryans also developed a written language called Sanskrit. Their presence in India brought other changes as well. The Aryans implemented a caste system, creating rigid social classes that could not be altered. Hinduism grew out of the ancient beliefs of the Aryans, and it changed over time as they adopted certain beliefs of the people they conquered. Siddhartha Gautama's lessons about the nature of suffering became known as Buddhism. An Indian prince named Chandragupta Maurya founded the Mauryan dynasty and India's first empire. Chandragupta established a centralized government and created a postal system. A Buddhist king, Asoka's efforts included the building of hospitals, stupas, and roads. After his death, the Mauryan dynasty fell apart. For 500 years, India was without a strong leader. When the Gupta empire was created, it <b>...</b>

Nalanda (University) - A Tamil Word
Nalanda (University) - A Tamil Word
Tamil Civilization is the earliest civilization not only in the Indian sub-continent but in the whole of the world. As Tamils has not ruled themselves for nearly 18 centuries, except brief interludes of Chola & Pandya kingdoms, Tamils had been successesfully fooled by invading rulers as the information sources had been controlled by them and by their political authority. With the advent of new information channels like internet & Cell phones, the present day Tamils have their own channels of communication, and hence these truths are out and spreading. We request the Tamils to propagate this info. among people to bargain and to safeguard Tamil's political rights. Tamils, with all urgency and sincerity, should start working to enable Tamilian Rule in Tamil Nadu. Every one of us should take this as our top priority. It is a shame that Tamils are ruled by the very small minorities who are invaders into our mother soil, that too in the so called democratic setup. What we lost due to this is simply unfathomable. We lost One Lakh and Fifty Thousand innocent Tamils in Srilanka, simply because, we were ruled by our invaders. Tamilian rule in Tamils Nadu is our top priority. Next rule in Tamil Nadu should be of Tamil rule. This is a Thamilarulaham Production.
