Brenda (Bette Midler), Elise (Goldie Hawn), and Annie (Diane Keaton) were close friends in college, but 27 years after graduation they've lost touch with each other, and it's not until a mutual friend of the three commits suicide that they meet at the funeral for the first time in years. It seems that their friend grew despondent after her husband left her for a younger woman, and all three find themselves in similar situations. Elise is an actress who finds herself out of work now that she's seen the shady side of 40, and her husband and producer Bill (Victor Garber) is demanding a divorce (and half of her fortune). Brenda helped her husband Morton (Dan Hedaya) open a profitable chain of discount electronics stores, but now that his commercials have made him a minor celebrity, he's taken up with a much younger (and thinner) woman. In this version, Ichabod (Johnny Depp) is a New York City detective whose unorthodox techniques and penchant for gadgets make him unpopular with is colleagues. He is sent to the remote town of Sleepy Hollow to investigate a series of bizarre murders, in which a number of people have been found dead in the woods, with their heads cut off. Local legend has it that a Hessian ghost rides through the woods on horseback, lopping off the heads of the unsuspecting and unbelieving. Ichabod refuses to believe in this legend, convinced that there must be a logical explanation for the murders. The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao- Trailer Pitch
In The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, Oscar is a sweet but disastrously overweight ghetto nerd who—from the New Jersey home he shares with his old world mother and rebellious sister—dreams of becoming the Dominican JRR Tolkien and, most of all, finding love. But Oscar may never get what he wants in this story of love, loss, and most of all, fukú. Based on the critically claimed and widely-loved novel by Junot Díaz, this is a pitch-of-concept trailer I've created to express my interest in adapting the film to the big screen. I hope to some day present this pitch to Mr. Diaz and the novel's film-right owner, Producer Scott Rudin. The footage in this film was gathered from numerous other films, and their place in this trailer is no way meant as a means of copyright infringement, rather, as inspiration for my vision of the novel's adaptation. The song featured is performed by Katie Herzig, and it represents the fast-paced and enigmatic tone my adaptation of the film would have.
