The Hundreds was originally founded in Los Angeles in 2003 by Bobby Kim and Ben Shenassafar as a men's apparel company and online magazine. Inspired by a California culture, the brand is considered a 2 part lifestyle project influenced by a variety of California's defining traits from punk to hip-hop, skateboarding to surf. Now sold worldwide, including at four of its own flagship stores in the United States, The Hundreds has expanded beyond apparel, accessories and headgear to a print magazine, a footwear collection and eyewear line.
The Hundreds encompasses multiple facets including an apparel line, an online magazine, retail stores and a print magazine. The collection is currently available in 400 accounts worldwide. In 2007, the brand expanded into retail, opening their first flagship store in Los Angeles. This Los Angeles store is located at 7909 Rosewood Ave, as the address appears on multiple items of clothing from the "Rosewood" collection. The Hundreds followed in 2008 opening San Francisco and in 2010 New York. On April 1, 2011, The Hundreds opened their fourth retail store, this one located in Santa Monica, California.

KPWR (105.9 FM, Power 106) is a commercial radio station located in Los Angeles, California, broadcasting to the Greater Los Angeles area on an analog signal and in HD Radio. KPWR airs a Rhythmic Top 40 format playing hip hop and R&B with occasional rhythmic pop/dance titles. It is owned and operated by Emmis Communications and is one of its two flagship stations alongside WQHT ("Hot 97") in New York City.
KPWR's studios are based in the Los Angeles suburb of Burbank, and the transmitter is at Mount Wilson.
105.9 FM signed on as easy listening KFI-FM on July 15, 1946, later becoming KBMS in 1958 before adopting the KWST call letters and "K-West 106" moniker in 1969. During its years as KBMS and KWST, its format had been beautiful music prior to its flip to a rock format on January 1, 1975. K-West emulated the then-popular sound of KMET and KLOS. By 1981, though, the ratings had slipped and KWST had changed to a Top 40 format, and let all of their disc jockeys go. KWST eventually evolved into KMGG, or "L.A.'s Magic 106 FM" in summer 1982, and played upbeat Adult Contemporary music.

Say what you will about The Hundreds, but the brand's progression is completely undeniable. From humble beginnings in a studio in Venice Boulevard in Los Angeles, the brand has blossomed into a full-scale operation replete with its own marketing, design, sales, and editorial teams -- all hosted in-house. Founder Bobby Hundreds has been made an icon in streetwear for the brand's rampant growth, yet still yearns not to revel in the brand's ostensible success: "It's important for us to...have it be casual and inspiring -- especially for our creative team. Also, [it's important to] make work not feel so much like work." Accordingly, its current space in Vernon, CA boasts a mini-ramp, arcade room, and full-scale kitchen alongside clean workspaces -- a dream space for young creatives of all kind...

We sat with the pattern’s illustrator, Josh Clements, to find out where he pulls his inspiration from and got a firsthand look at the creative process of the satirical piece from start to finish. The “Crazin’” print features a number of The Hundreds’ personalities illustrated as marijuana buds in the style of the classic California Raisin cartoons. The print serves as commentary on how the marijuana industry has grown so rapidly that it has infiltrated the entire Californian agriculture industry’s output.
