Bristol (i/ˈbrɪstəl/) is a city, unitary authority and county in South West England with an estimated population of 442,500 in 2015. It is England's sixth and the United Kingdom's eighth most populous city, and the most populous city in Southern England after London. People from Bristol are known as Bristolians. The city borders the counties of Somerset and Gloucestershire, with the historic cities of Bath and Gloucester to the south-east and north-east, respectively.
Iron Age hill forts and Roman villas were built near the confluence of the Rivers Frome and Avon, and around the beginning of the 11th century the settlement was known as Brycgstow (Old English "the place at the bridge"). Bristol received a royal charter in 1155 and was in Gloucestershire until 1373, when it became a county. From the 13th to the 18th century, Bristol was among the top three English cities after London (with York and Norwich) in tax receipts. Bristol was eclipsed by the rapid rise of Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham during the Industrial Revolution.

British automobile manufacturer Bristol Cars revealed its first car since the company was rescued from insolvency in 2011 on Thursday (July 28). The luxury car maker, which originally manufactured planes from 1916, has been making cars for 70 years. 70 models of the Bristol Bullet, with carbon-fibre bodies made in Chichester, southern England, are being released to celebrate the company's anniversary. The car's V8 'Hercules' engine, which can reach a top speed of 155 MPH, is manufactured by BMW. "It's a very emotional car for all of us. It's got the 70th anniversary of Bristol written in to it. It is writing the future of the history of the company as well," company director, Noman Siddiqi, told Reuters at a launch event in London. The Bristol Aeroplane Company developed its first car...

This is what we did when we were bored, and had nothing else to do.
A New Bristol Car is Finally Coming, Along With a Lot of Bristol Merchandise. It looked like the days of the eccentric British automaker Bristol Cars were over in 2011 when they went bust. But under new ownership, they're coming back next year with a new car. Bristol Cars announced Friday their first new car since 2003 would arrive next year. Working under the name "Pinnacle" right now, this is the first new product since Bristol was purchased in 2011 by Kamkorp. The new car is also being launched to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the company. Few details were released about Project Pinnacle, but Bristol did say they're working on a range-extender electric luxury sedan using Frazer-Nash technologies. That sounds interesting. Bristol is also making a big investment in its histori...
